In light of econometric hypotheses, this paper explained the comovement mechanism of global stock markets, made descriptive statistical analysis to the market returns of sample countries with VAR and DCC-GARCH models, and examined the comovement of market returns. The result shows that stock market in Brazil was the most volatile among all sample countries. Meanwhile, after the outbreak, VIX and WTI’s influence on dynamic correlation coefficients increased, showing a positive and significant impact and thereby strengthening the comovement of global stock markets.  ","PeriodicalId":13861,"journal":{"name":"International journal of business research","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89047015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motivation is a self-initiated behavior that influences organizational citizenship behavior. However, empathy remains a vague psychological construct that requires research into different forms of empathy. This study applied illocutionary (empathetic) speech to determine the ability to predict organizational citizenship behavior in the leader-member exchange relationship. Additionally, locutionary (meaning-making) and perlocutionary (direction-giving) speech was introduced to establish factors that may strengthen that relationship. The study consisted of three hundred nine full-time employees and revealed that illocutionary (empathetic) speech significantly predicted organizational citizenship behavior. Locutionary (meaning-making) and perlocutionary (direction-giving) speech strengthened that relationship and are consistent with felicity conditions. Therefore, leaders, managers, and supervisors should attend workshops or executive coaching to develop communication strategies based on empathetic, direction-giving, and meaning-making speech to motivate employee organizational citizenship in leader-member exchange relationships.","PeriodicalId":13861,"journal":{"name":"International journal of business research","volume":"31 2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77992044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The four pillar industries of Hong Kong are financial services, tourism, trade and logistics, professional services, and other industrial support services, while in the past the major industrial sectors, except for finance, have encountered bottlenecks in the development of major industries, which have less impact on the development of Hong Kong. The inherent contradictions of our capitalism are becoming increasingly prominent, and our development approach is in urgent need of transformation and upgrading. The violent impact of infectious diseases has caused dramatic changes in the economic structure of Hong Kong. To promote the sustainable development of our economy, it is necessary to improve the rigidity of the industrial structure, reduce the gap between the rich and the poor, and develop an innovative economy.","PeriodicalId":13861,"journal":{"name":"International journal of business research","volume":"2008 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82580132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many consumers seek out pirated content and the majority of them do not perceive it as something that could eventually harm the creative industry or perceive it as a wrong practice. Therefore, the problem of online piracy becomes rampant. This research investigates the direct and indirect relationships between deviant peer associations, perceived benefits, attitude towards digital piracy, subjective norms, self-efficacy, digital piracy intention and actual digital piracy behaviour. A total of 450 samples were gathered via an online self-administered questionnaire survey. The data was evaluated by structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). According to the statistical findings, all of the direct and indirect relationships among the seven variables are significantly supported. This study provides theoretical and managerial implications by demonstrating that digital piracy intention has a significant relationship on actual digital piracy behaviour as well as deviant peer associations have a significant relationship on an individual’s attitude towards digital piracy. This study concludes with some limitations and recommendations for the future digital piracy research.","PeriodicalId":13861,"journal":{"name":"International journal of business research","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79173738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Saudi Arabia has witnessed a growing number of hotel projects of new international chains and domestics hotels. Studies relevant to career competencies topics are relatively scarce among the first-line staff in Saudi’s hotels industry. This study seeks to examine the relationship between career competencies and job performance among frontline staffs at luxury, mid and upper mid-scale hotels in Riyadh and Makkah regions of Saudi Arabia. This study used online questionnaire method and was sent to 700 different hotels with a response rate of 76% (n=499). Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for data analysis. Results showed that reflective, communicative, and behavioral career competencies have a statistically significant positive influence on individual work performance with values of (B=0.3, p<0.01), (B=0.34, p<0.01), and (B=0.21, p<0.01) respectively. A number of practical implications along with the research limitations were discussed.","PeriodicalId":13861,"journal":{"name":"International journal of business research","volume":"44 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73383338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
