Poor bone density (D3 & D4 type from Misch classification) is common in the maxillary jaw, especially in elderly patients which can create a hindrance to proper Osseo integration. A successful implant therapy would optimally re-create the lost mucogingival contours while maintaining their relationship to the prosthesis by replacing the tooth/ teeth. The time of implant placement plays a crucial role and is to be decided on a case-to-case basis. The present report describes a case of Osstem TS IV implant placement in the maxillary right premolar region with a delayed loading approach","PeriodicalId":13838,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Dental Sciences","volume":"104 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87495356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mandibular anterior teeth were lost due to osteomyelitis, leaving unhealed necrotic area. Curettage was done to salvage the remaining perfused bone. Use of a removable prosthesis with teeth on occlusal surface and silicone soft liner on intaglio surface, served the purpose of mastication and prevented the underlying operated soft tissues from further trauma. Major emphasis was given on keratinization of the soft tissues for preparation of a better foundation for placement of occlusal stress. Implant supported prosthesis was not opted for, to prevent the patient from the trauma of major surgical intervention. The removable prosthesis used in our case, served to fulfil the nutritional and aesthetic needs of the patient.","PeriodicalId":13838,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Dental Sciences","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83444800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Untreated caries causes progressive tooth destruction, which is frequently accompanied by considerable pain, lowering one's quality of life. Fluoride use so as to reduce the causation of dental caries has been widespread since a long time which involves nearly six to eight decades. Especially in those people who have got the specific type of caries which involve their smooth surfaces only, can have topical fluorides applied at their site, not only smooth surface but also those cases which involves a tremendously increased amount of caries can also have their remedy in the form of application of topical fluorides. In this review we’ll analyze the usage and variety of cases in which we can apply topical fluorides in a community and how this practice can help in treating several caries at a widespread level and thus this is how it helps in reduction not only at an individual but also at a community level.","PeriodicalId":13838,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Dental Sciences","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135672638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aim: To evaluate the effect of different air blasting pressure of PEEK on surface roughness and shear bond strength to adhesive resin cement. Materials and Methods: 24 discs of BioHPP PEEK (bredent, UK) were manufactured. Samples were air blasted with 110 μm Al 2 O 3 particles for 10 seconds at distance of 10 mm and divided into 3 groups according to pressure. Group A: 3 bar, Group B: 2.5 bar and Group C: 3.5 bar. Surface roughness was measured by SEM, Visio Link primer (Bredent, Germany) was applied and cured then G-CEM resin cement (GC, Japan) was applied and cured. Shear bond strength was measured using universal testing machine. EDX analysis was done, and failure mode was detected by stereo-microscope. Results: Statistical analysis showed that roughness average (Ra) increased by increasing pressure, Group B was significantly the lowest ( p < 0.05), while there was insignificant difference between other groups (P > 0.05). Regarding shear bond strength, Group A recorded (12.6864 ± 2.486 MPa), Group B (11.2842 ± 1.555 MPa) and Group C (10.1024 ± 2.317 MPa), there was significantly statistical difference between Groups A & C ( p < 0.05). The failure mode was mainly adhesive in group C and mixed in groups A & B. EDX analysis showed an increase in Carbon and Silica and a decrease in Oxygen and Aluminum weight percentages after the bond strength test. Conclusion: Increasing the air blasting pressure up to 3 bar increases the surface roughness and bond strength to resin cement, but more than 3 bar showed unfavorable surface roughness and decreased bond strength.","PeriodicalId":13838,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Dental Sciences","volume":"55 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87557992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

C shaped canal anatomy is most commonly seen in mandibular second molars and to some extent mandibular premolars. Such canals are difficult to negotiate, debride/disinfect and obturate due to its high incidence of fins, webs, lateral canals and anastomoses. Inability to identify and debride such canal anatomy may lead to endodontic failure. Case Report: These case series highlights on two different c shaped canals with two different obturation techniques. Conclusion: Complexity of C shaped canal morphology can be managed successfully with proper irrigation and obturation techniques.","PeriodicalId":13838,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Dental Sciences","volume":"241 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90376538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: A total of 22 patients were randomly selected from the dental implant clinic. Eleven patients for the study group received CAD/CAM immediate temporization and eleven patients for the control group received chairside immediate temporization in the maxillary aesthetic zone. Results: In each group, there was a statistically significant increase in PES by time (P-value = 0.001). The mean pink aesthetic score of the control group was 9.57(±1.22) immediately and increased to 11.71(±1.13), while the mean PES for the study group was 9.79(±1.19) immediately and increased 12.60(±1.86) f after 4 months. Between the two groups, there was no statistically significant difference in the mean PES. We recorded overall favorable peri-implant soft tissue conditions. The study group showed a higher mean ISQ value than the control group after 4 months (P = 0.019). Conclusions: Although the CAD/CAM immediate provisionalization technique showed better esthetic results in immediate implant placement in the esthetic zone, no statistically significant difference between mean PES in the two groups. The immediate provisionalization technique in the two groups represents a valuable treatment choice for the restoration of the immediate implant in the anterior maxilla.","PeriodicalId":13838,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Dental Sciences","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80974070","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
