Twenty-five points were systematically chosen within the North campus of the Federal Polytechnic and its environs, and assessed for aquifer’s groundwater potentials, groundwater development, and reasons for the failure of some abandoned wells within the study area. The study was conducted using some geological investigations and electrical resistivity methods such as horizontal profiling and vertical electrical sounding using the Wenner array and Schlumberger configuration. Indications from the result show that the electrical resistivity values of the study area range from 40 to 85Ωm, 90 to 120 and 120 to 1,230Ωm. Further analysis of the result using specific interpretative models classified the study area into three potential groundwater zones, namely high groundwater potential terrain, low to medium groundwater potential terrain and poor to lean potential groundwater terrain. The investigation also revealed that the failure of the boreholes situated within the sports complex beside the rector’s office and the one at the staff club were the result of sinking the boreholes in a poor to lean potential groundwater terrain. Similarly, boreholes sank within the high groundwater potential and sourced their water from the weathered and fractured zone, which formed the aquifer within the basement complex of the study area.","PeriodicalId":13763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90404300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of three pineapple plantation in Pontian was chosen for this study. BiologEcoplate™ system was used to evaluate microbial functional diversity. The enumeration of aerobic culturable microorganism was performed using total plate count. Microbial activity, species richness, and aerobic culturable bacteria of PM1 were higher than PS. Microbial catabolic diversity was found not significant in the sampling location. Correlation analysis showed that microbial catabolic diversity was strongly associated with pH. The abundance of aerobic culturable fungi was also strongly associated with culturable actinomycetes. It is concluded that pH shaped the microbial functional diversity in peat by shifting the microbial community through selection and adaptation of microbes that can function in peat.","PeriodicalId":13763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82710143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A review of the literature shows that traditional retail businesses used to supply goods, products and services to people who live and work at Tembisa Township before the mid-1990s. Since then, large retailers and shopping malls have opened up shops at Tembisa Township, thereby competing against traditional small scale retail businesses. A significant market share has since been lost to large retailers and shopping malls by traditional small retailers and businesses. The results showed that some of the traditional retail businesses had managed to survive by using innovative marketing and networking techniques. The key attributes of resilient businesses were keeping very close working relationships with their historical customers, comparing selling prices on a daily basis, actively encouraging customers to keep supporting their businesses, opening up their shops earlier than 9:00 AM each day, staying very late in the evening at work, working extended hours, the use of social media platforms, selling on credit and ordering merchandise in bulk and on credit.","PeriodicalId":13763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83145320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motivation is a crucial component of learning and is critical in determining students’ achievement. It is an internal process that activates the learners’ behavior to engage in science learning activities that is purposely designed in a form of learners’ material. Specifically the study aimed to identify six (6) motivational constructs as exposed to Brain-based Blended approach and find out the significant difference on students’ level of motivations and Brain-based Blended approach. The use of KACIE Model built on multiple Brain-based protocols on a web interface exposure was employed and Science Motivation Survey questionnaire was used with a reliable Cronbach alpha of 0.78. One shot pre experimental pretest-posttest research design was employed. Findings of the study revealed that students’ exposure to Brain-based Blended approach exhibited high motivations in their order of preferences such as control of learning beliefs, task value, extrinsic goal orientation, intrinsic goal orientation, self-efficacy for learning, and test anxiety. Further results show a significant difference between to students’ motivations and Brain-based Blended approach. A reflective analysis indicated that students valued and enhanced their learning in Physical Science.","PeriodicalId":13763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90802219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to determine the degree of self-regulated learning strategy in a flexible learning environment with regard to affective, cognitive, metacognitive, and motivational strategy; ascertain the level of students’ academic performance in flexible learning; assess if there is a significant relationship between the students’ academic performance and the self-regulated learning strategies; and find out which variable, singly or in combination, predicts students’ academic performance. The study used a descriptive quantitative correlational design. The study is conducted at Valencia National High School, Valencia City, Bukidnon. The research respondents were 150 Grade 10 students. The reseachers used descriptive statistics to determine the level of each sub-variable of self-regulated learning strategies and the students’ academic performance. The relationship involving self-regulated learning and students' mathematical performance is examined using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Finally, to predict which sub-variables predict students’ academic performance, it utilizes regression analysis. Results showed that students are indicated positive about self-regulated learning. The student's academic performance is rated as very satisfactory. Henceforth, there is a significant correlation between students' academic performance and their use of a self-regulated learning strategy. Lastly, the sub-variable that predicts students’ academic performance is the metacognitive strategy.","PeriodicalId":13763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research","volume":"147 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73682925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Distribution of some insects observed in moss cushions ecosystem was conducted at Cinchona Forest Reserve, Lantapan, and Bukidnon, Philippines. Insects are arthropods that inhabits in moss cushions with their associated bacteria, and fungi which provide nutrients for most fauna. The study aimed to determine insects associated with moss cushions in Cinchona Forest Reserve, Mt. Kitanglad, Lantapan,Bukidnon. The forest has an average elevation of 1,223 meters above sea level. Field sampling through opportunistic survey was employed by recording all the insects observed in moss cushions. Findings revealed a total of 12 families and 21 genera of insects which include the families of Formicidae, Curculionidae, Gryllidae, Blaberidae, Chrysomelidae, Tenebrionidae, Tetrigidae, Cicadelidae, Drosophilidae, Heteropterygidae, Porcellionidae, and Termitidae. Of these, the associated moss families for which insects were observed indicate a total of 7 families, 11 genera, and 18 species.Further, Bryofauna such as insects include organisms that live and eat almost the moss floral species. In tropical regions, numerous moss plant influenced the abundance and distribution of some insects such as the provision of a water refuge to protect from predators. Data suggests some specificity of bryofauna in Cinchona Forest Reserve.","PeriodicalId":13763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87632526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
