Also, doxorubicin causes deterioration in hepato-renal\u0000function. It significantly increases the levels of blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, alanine transaminase, and\u0000aspartate transaminase distortion in normal renal and hepatic histology. The present study was undertaken to\u0000find out the protective role of beta-caryophyllene (BCP), an anti-oxidant against doxorubicin-induced multiple\u0000organ toxicities in experimental animals. In this study, male Wistar rats were divided into four groups. The first\u0000group, control group, was administered with vehicle (2.5% tween 20); the second group received doxorubicin\u0000(15 mg/kg intraperitoneally at a single dose), third and fourth groups (treatment groups) received BCP plus\u0000doxorubicin (15 mg/kg) at doses of 100 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg respectively. BCP was given orally for 15 days and\u0000doxorubicin was given on 13th day of treatment. Cardiac function was assessed by measuring electrocardiogram\u0000changes and cardiac biomarkers—doxorubicin-induced significant lengthening of QT-interval and ST-elevation,\u0000which was completely prevented by BCP treatment. Doxorubicin caused oxidative stress as indicated by a significant\u0000decrease in reduced superoxide dismutase, glutathione level, and catalase activity with an increase in\u0000malondialdehyde compared to control. Doxorubicin and BCP significantly reversed these values compared to\u0000doxorubicin in heart, kidney, and liver. The histopathological examination has also shown signs of toxicity in\u0000doxorubicin treated groups, and healing effect was noticed in treatment groups.

The skin disease comes in two forms. The most well-known form is Acne vulgaris (referred to as acne), which mostly manifests in teens but may continue into the early 20s. The second form is called Acne rosacea (referred to as rosacea) and mostly affects 30- to 60-year-olds. The two forms, despite sharing a common prefix, are quite unrelated in their respective pathophysiology, have different approaches to treatment and hence are considered two separate conditions. The conventional drug delivery system is efficient in the management of acne but poor patient compliance and adverse effects limit its efficacy. Lipid nanoparticles are novel nano lipid carriers made from biocompatible lipid which reduces toxicity; improve physical stability, skin hydration, and film formation. Furthermore, lipid nanoparticles protect the encapsulated drug from degradation. Thus current review focused on the potential use of lipid nanoparticles for the management of acne.

Repaglinide is a novel oral hypoglycemic agent chemically unrelated to sulphonylureas, metformin or acarbose used for the treatment of type II diabetes. Nevirapine is widely used non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors for the treatment of HIV infection. Objective: The objective of this study was to examine the effect of oral administration of nevirapine on blood glucose and investigate their effect on the activity of repaglinide and to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the combination. Materials and Methods: Studies in normal, diabetic rats and normal rabbits were conducted with oral doses of repaglinide, nevirapine and their combination. All the animals were fasted for 18 h prior to experimentation; during this period the animals were fed with water ad libitum. The blood samples were collected at 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8hours in rats by retro orbital puncture and by marginal ear vein puncture in rabbits at different time intervals. Further, the samples were analyzed for glucose by glucose oxidase/peroxidase (GOD/POD) method. The rabbit blood samples were analyzed by HPLC for serum repaglinide concentration. The serum repaglinide levels and pharmacokinetic parameters of repaglinide were evaluated with multiple dose treatments of nevirapine in rabbits. Result and Discussion: Nevirapine alone have no significant effect on the blood glucose level in rats and rabbits. Repaglinide produced hypoglycemic and antihyperglycemic activity in normal and diabetic rats with peak activity at 2 h and hypoglycemic activity in normal rabbits at 1.5 h. In combination, nevirapine reduced the effect of repaglinide in rats and rabbits. The interaction was found to be significant at both pharmacodynamic as well as at pharmacokinetic levels. Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that the combination of nevirapine and repaglinide may need dose adjustment and care should be taken when the combination is prescribed for their clinical benefit in diabetic patients. However, further studies are warranted.

It also lays emphasis on the fact that health (more importantly reproductive health) of the present generation has an everlasting effect on the overall health of the next generation and that both are of crucial importance for socio-economic development. Reproductive health need of young people especially for young girls and women includes needs for reproductive health care, family planning, HIV/AIDS information, safer sex, unwanted pregnancy, early pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), safe abortion and safe motherhood. Recently a number of programs for school going adolescent in India have focused on information, education, and communication with a limited focus on the provision of clinical and counseling services on reproductive health. Educational programs can increase awareness about reproductive health but this awareness may not always translate into appropriate help-seeking behavior by adolescents. The limited knowledge about reproductive health issues makes young girls vulnerable to various diseases and infections including HIV/AIDS/STDs, substance abuse, sexual violence, and exploitation. In this paper, we would briefly focus on various aspects of reproductive health.

An imbalance in the monoamine neurotransmit¬ters leads to depression. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors drugs are the generally recommended anti-depressants as they enhance the levels of serotonin in the brain. The efficiency of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) in mild or moderate cases of depression has been disputed. In this study, co-administration of piperine, along with citalopram, was evaluated. Citalopram, in combination with piperine, possesses effective potency to improve the behavioral imperfections through forced swim test (FST), tail suspension test (TST), and acto-photometer behavioral tests. Thus, the results revealed that a combination of piperine with citalopram has excellent beneficial effects than an individual in the treatment of depression. This synergetic effect of piperine with citalopram may attribute to their inhibitory activity of the CYP450 enzymes.

The effect of leaves and stem bark extract of Diospyros malabarica on human blood coagulation was investigated using Lee and White method at Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute in Sri Lanka. A total of 20 healthy individuals representing both sex were included in the study. For the test group, three tubes containing a volume of 0.5mL of stem bark extract were allocated, and the sap was replaced with normal saline for the tubes of the control group. A volume of 1mL of drawn blood was quickly added for every six tubes in situ, and all were incubated in a water bath at 37˚C. Every tube of two groups was observed carefully for a clot to measure the average clotting time of each group separately. Above procedure was repeated to all the fresh juice samples of stem bark and the leaves of Diospyros malabarica. The statistically significant reduction of average clotting time has proved that the stem bark of Diospyros malabarica and leaves of Diospyros malabarica have a highly significant effect on clotting cascade.
