This paper discusses the available solutions in the market and then proposes a new design for prosthetic hands, incorporating the morphological features of the actual human hand. Each finger, actuated by a slider mechanism, has a single degree of freedom. While the thumb design utilizes worm gear driven mechanisms to feature a double degree of freedom. The morphology of the developed device is that of the adult male human right hand. The motors for actuation are installed inside the palm of the hand while the overall weight of the prosthetic device is 453 g. The control is generated by the forward kinematics model assessing the relation between the slider position and the rotation angles of the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints of the individual fingers. A feedback control loop provides the adaptive grip. The developed prosthesis design can be used to interface with either an EMG or EEG-based control scheme.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126426595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to proceed with the problem, we propose a hybrid approach based on fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for goal seeking behavior and Deformable Virtual Zone (DVZ) reactive algorithm to address 3D obstacles avoidance. We suggest a practical solution to combine both controllers. The proposed approach has been successfully tested in different configuration on simulation.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126335805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, in an scenario of variable electricity prices in an hourly basis, we apply different EAs, nested, to obtain optimal values for the sizing of generators and Energy Storage System (ESS), also to obtain the optimal values for each access tariff periods (structure part of the MG), and ESS scheduling (operational part of the MG). The proposed nested EAs starts from an initial solution for the ESS scheduling given by a deterministic approach (DA algorithm), from which an initial structure part is obtained by means of a first evolution. This part is set, and a different EA is then applied to obtain an improved ESS scheduling, which will be set to apply a different EA for the structure part. This scheme is applied in a sequential fashion for a number of evolutions. We will show that the proposed evolution scheme is able to obtain excellent results in terms of MG design, better than those by a single EA with the same number of function evaluations.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"187 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121081057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For example, persons suffering from the locked in syndrome or ALS. Many researchers use the eye tracking or the brain signals as alternative ways to control the EPW. The goal of this paper is to illustrate the EPW control performance amelioration when using multi sources compared to single source control. The first part is to elaborate separate control techniques using ElectroEncephalography (EEG) then eye tracking technologies. The second part, is combining these techniques using data fusion algorithms. Finally, testing the control performance with EEG, Eye tracking and EEG/Eye tracking.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132747986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, constructing a knowledge base often involves great cost and substantial effort on the part of human experts in the target domain. In this paper, we present an approach that harnesses the power of casual users to construct the knowledge base. The users answer a simple series of questions and, by aggregating their answers, we obtain the information necessary to augment and refine the knowledge base. To motivate the users to engage in the process, we presented the questions via a gamification approach. Our experiments with the knowledge base of an Apartment FAQ system substantiate the potential of our proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127558302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The detection of appropriate depth of anesthesia is a matter of great importance in surgery. Too deep or too little anesthesia implementation may lead to many psychological and physical disorders on patients. Therefore it is necessary to keep the patient at the most appropriate level of anesthesia. This process is important and challenging operation. In this study, a system is proposed which can be used to determine the depth of anesthesia in order to assist physician. Anesthetic substances significantly affect the cortex of the brain. There are studies for determination of depth of anesthesia by monitoring of brain activity. In this study, EEG signals that reflect the brain activity are utilized to measure the depth of anesthesia. The study consists of feature extraction and classification stages of the EEG signal. In the feature extraction stage, a new attribute set consisting of 44 attributes in different categories was obtained. In this way, it is aimed to create an effective set of attributes that can represent EEG signals. The obtained attributes were used as input parameters for classification algorithms. In classification stage, the classification problem is classified by seven different classification algorithms. In this way, comparison of calculation time and accuracy for obtained results in different classification algorithms was provided. With the proposed method for the determination of different depth of anesthesia, 98.169% classification accuracy was achieved.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129987108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the first integer linear programming model for this problem. Moreover, a simple greedy heuristic and a more sophisticated extension, namely a greedy-based pilot method, are proposed. Experiments show that, as expected, the greedy-based pilot method improves over the greedy strategy. For problem instances of small and medium size the best results were obtained by solving the integer linear programming model by CPLEX, while the greedy-based pilot methods scales much better to large problem instances.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130944519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, precise prediction of the measure of increase or decrease of stock prices also plays an important role in buying/selling activities. This research presents a specialised extension to the genetic algorithms (GA) known as the genetic programming (GP) and gene expression programming (GEP) to explore and investigate the outcome of the GEP criteria on the stock market price prediction. The research presented in this paper aims at the modelling and prediction of short-to-medium term stock value fluctuations in the market via genetically tuned stock market parameters. The technique uses hierarchically defined GP and GEP techniques to tune algebraic functions representing the fittest equation for stock market activities. The proposed methodology is evaluated against five well-known stock market companies with each having its own trading circumstances during the past 20+ years. The proposed GEP/GP methodologies were evaluated based on variable window/population sizes, selection methods, and Elitism, Rank and Roulette selection methods. The Elitism-based approach showed promising results with a low error-rate in the resultant pattern matching with an overall accuracy of 93.46% for short-term 5-day and 92.105 for medium-term 56-day trading periods.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130329177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method consists of three stages. In the first stage, 3-D surface model of an industrial part is obtained by using a laser profile sensor mounted on the tip of the robot manipulator. In the second stage, the 3-D model is visualized to enable the operator to select operation points from the visual of the part. The last stage includes obtaining the motion plan for the selected points and moving the robot manipulator along the planned trajectory and performing industrial operations on the selected points. A real application is given to proof the feasibility of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"803 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133795507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
