One of such tasks is orientation. It is crucial for the autonomy of an individual and, at the same time, it is one of the most challenging tasks for an individual with cognitive disabilities. Existing solutions that tackle this problem are mostly concerned with guidance, tracking and the display of information. However, there is a dimension that has not been the object of concern in existing projects, the prediction of user actions. This work presents a Speculative Module for an orientation system that is used to alert the user for potential mistakes in his path, anticipating possible shifts in the wrong direction in critical points of the route. With this module, it becomes possible to issue warnings to the user and increase his attention so as to avoid a deviation from the correct path.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116765160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Naïve Bayes has mainly two event models used for text categorization which are multivariate Bernoulli and multinomial models. A very large number of studies choose multinomial model and Laplace smoothing just based on the assumption that it performs better than multivariate model under almost any conditions. This study aims to shed some light into this widely adopted assumption by analyzing Naïve Bayes event models and smoothing methods from a different perspective. To clarify the difference between events models of Naïve Bayes, their classification performance are compared on different languages - English and Turkish - datasets. Results of our extensive experiments demonstrate that superior performance of multinomial model does not observed all the time. On the other hand, multivariate Bernoulli model can perform well when combined with an appropriate smoothing method under different training data size conditions.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116496430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All data were obtained from wastewater treatment plant of Konya during daily records over four month. Treatment efficiency of the plant was determined by taking into account the input values of pH, temperature, COD, TSS and BOD with output values of COD. To compare the performance of the model, coefficient of determination (R2) and Mean Squared Error (MSE) were used. In Multilinear regression method, to understand the effects of the tested parameters, regression function was developed. The highest prediction efficiencies was obtained two hidden layers in Artificial Neural Network models. According to the modeling study, Artificial Neural Network models responded more satisfactory results than Multilinear Regression model.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121805583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, a research line of increasing interest during the last decade focuses on the derivation of intelligent solution encoding strategies capable of 1) capturing all topological constraints of this particular class of graphs; and 2) preserving their connectivity properties when they undergo combination/mutation operations within approximative evolutionary solvers. This manuscript takes a step over the state of the art by shedding light on the heri-tability properties of the Dandelion tree encoding approach under avant-garde stochastically-controlled evolutionary operators. In particular we elaborate on the topological heritability of the so-called Harmony Memory Considering Rate (HMCR) exploitative operator of the Harmony Search algorithm, a population-based meta-heuristic algorithm that has so far shown to outperform other evolutionary schemes in a wide range of optimization scenarios. Results from extensive Monte Carlo simulations are discussed in terms of the preserved structural properties of the newly produced solutions with respect to the initial Dandelion-encoded population.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123967971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A well-established fingerprint database plays an important role in positioning, especially enhancing positioning accuracy. In literature, there are studies that consider only one type of measurements such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth RSS, but these values are not sufficient alone to overcome the problems in dynamically changed environments. In order to deal with this, we propose a novel fingerprint database that contains both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth RSS values in addition to magnetic field measurements obtained from mobile devices. In addition to this, the proposed database also contains Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (BT) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) RSS values obtained from preplaced sensor nodes in the experimental environment. The aims of this fingerprint database are to enhance accuracy, precision, and robustness of the location estimation system to dynamically changed environment and to satisfy researchers' needs who are deal with different problems in indoor positioning.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115135826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Exploration for autonomous mobile robots is closely related to mapping, navigation, localization and obstacle avoidance. In this study an autonomous frontier-based exploration strategy is implemented. Frontiers are defined as the border points that are calculated throughout the mapping and navigation stage between known and unknown areas. Frontier-based exploration implementation is compatible with the Robot Operating System (ROS). Also in this study, real robot platform is utilized for testing and the effect of different frontier target assignment approaches are comparatively analyzed by means of total path length and thereby total exploration time.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126350772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cruising and coasting, two basic motion phases of train, should be taken into consideration in order to decrease energy consumption. Determining the optimal switching points from one motion phase into another is key in the energy saving. It is shown that, genetic algorithm and simulated annealing, when employed in a hybrid algorithm, complement each other in finding such switching points. For a performance verification of the hybrid optimization approach, multiple test tracks with different lengths are considered. Also certain real life constraints are taken into account such as punctuality and maximum speed limit. Obtained results are compared to the single genetic algorithm and it is shown that the hybrid algorithm built as a cascade combination of genetic algorithm and simulated annealing can reach optimum solution with better accuracy and lower time consumption.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125970349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
