This process consists on separating a dataset blindly, according to the form defined by the data instances in the space. Data are discriminated in groups defined by their form. These approaches are usually focused on continuity-based methods where the manifold follows a continuity criterion. Currently, clustering techniques try to deal with the discrimination process, but there are a few algorithms that can generate an accurate and robust discrimination. This tutorial aims to present new different approaches, specially focused on Genetic Algorithms, which can deal with these problems.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121002215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conversational agents beneath these interfaces have become more sophisticated, being able to either perform a task in behalf of the user or give a precise response to a question as Question Answering systems do. When combining Conversational Agents with QA capabilities the maintenance cost exponentially increases. In this paper we propose a hybrid architecture for a Question Answering system that features social dialog. We claim that including social dialog in QA systems increases users satisfaction and makes them easily engage with the system. Finally, we present an evaluation that supports these hypotheses.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125623023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, careful assessment and evaluation should be taken when deciding to grant credit to potential borrowers. With the rapid growth of credit industry and the massive volume of financial data, developing effective credit scoring models is very crucial. The literature in this area is very dense with models that aim to get the best predictive performance. Recent studies stressed on using ensemble models or multiple classifiers over single ones to solve credit scoring problems. Therefore, this study propose to develop and introduce a systematic credit scoring model based on homogenous and heterogeneous classifier ensembles based on three state-of-the art classifiers: logistic regression (LR), artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector machines (SVM). Results revealed that heterogeneous classifier ensembles gives better predictive performance than homogenous and single classifiers in terms of average accuracy.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"399 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133564574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes the development of an environment to assess auditory emotional recognition based on a mobile application. The primary aim of this work is to provide a valuable instrument that can be used both in research and clinical settings, responding to the strong need of validated measures of emotional processing in Portugal. The secondary aim is to study behavioral features, acquired unobtrusively from the interaction of the participant with the device, in search for a relationship with medical conditions, cognitive impairments, auditory emotional recognition or socio-demographic indicators. This will establish the foundation for the prediction of such aspects based on the analysis of people's interaction with technological devices, providing new potentially interesting diagnostic tools.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133630877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a system can use the previous sensor readings for decision-making (decide which activity is performed), without the need to wait for future ones. This paper proposes an approach of human activity recognition on online sensor data. We present four methods used to extract features from the sequence of sensor events. Our experimental results on public smart home data show an improvement of effectiveness in classification accuracy.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"12 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131893032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The HS system is a modal logic of time intervals, with a rich set of ordering relations between intervals, which is potentially useful for temporal planning issues. Our extension may be exploited for a representation of both temporal relations and preferences, which adds some \"rationality' for this planning. The linearity relations of preferences (less or more preferable), when combined with time, often lose their sense, and become inapplicable. We intend to show the completeness of a preferential component of the system, w.r.t. the interval-based semantics and that its satisfiability property belong to the class of PSPACE problems.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124839175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a new SR approach based on block motion estimation (ME) with gradient magnitude and the block types. ME is applied between a reference and its neighboring frames. If the motion is estimated inaccurately undesirable results are occurred at high resolution (HR) output frame. So, adaptive and static thresholds are used to eliminate improper blocks in registration. Outlier pixel detection is applied in reconstruction step. Finally, a deblurring process is performed on the HR frame. Proposed method results are compared with different interpolation methods. In this study, we present a new approach for edge linking by applying the concept of the PCA on different types of images to determine the attractive edge segments. To determine the direction by using the angle information, the PCA decomposition is carried out on the block around the processed point. Specifically, the horizontal and vertical directions are taken into account by considering the angle between the eigenvectors corresponding to the largest and smallest eigenvalues. After making some experiments on noisy and noise free images, we have observed that the proposed method is robust to noise, preserves the structure of image and extracts well-localized and straight lines.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123566728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a classifier application for colorectal tumors based on the TNM-O ontology. It was developed in the JAVA using the OWL-API. The TNM-O uses the Foundational Model of Anatomy for representing anatomical entities and BioTopLite2 as a domain-top-level ontology. The classifier application processes input data via a user interface or tabular data. The classification starts with the creation of RDF Individuals for each pathological information item formally described in the ontology. These Individuals are then classified by the HermiT Description Logics reasoner by A-Box classification. A dataset with 382 entries was provided by the pathology department of a university hospital. It was automatically classified with regard to metastatic regional lymph nodes. Results or expert classification by pathologists and automatic classification were compared. The automatic process helped to detect and explain inconsistencies between expert and automatic classifications. This work, we demonstrate the use of semantic technologies in a TNM classifier application separating underlying medical knowledge represented in OWL from process logics. The presented prototypical TNM classifier application shows the potential to be integrated in larger software systems.","PeriodicalId":136707,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications (INISTA)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126960237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
