BACnet (building automation and control networks) is a standard data communication protocol designed specifically for building automation and control systems. BACnet adopts master-slave/token-passing (MS/TP) protocol as one of its field level networks. In this study, we introduce a method of implementing bandwidth allocation scheme in the MS/TP protocol. The bandwidth allocation scheme improves the capability of real-time communication of the original MS/TP protocol. The bandwidth allocation scheme introduced in this paper can be easily implemented in the existing MS/TP protocol with a slight modification. In this study, we actually developed the hardware and firmware of MS/TP module in which bandwidth allocation scheme is implemented.","PeriodicalId":136064,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004. These surfaces are composed by areas with different depths, corners and specular surfaces. To minimize the constraints of sonar sensors, it was developed dedicated software and hardware, as well as an empirical model was obtained from real data. This model is based in two proposed concepts: points of constant depth (PCD) and areas of constant depth (ACD). Having this sonar model in mind, four multisensor fusion techniques are used separately to validate the PCDs and decide the ACDs: average and variance, fuzzy controller and heuristic method based in rules. In this work a PUMA 560 manipulator was equipped with a CCD video camera and four ultrasonic sensors on the wrist, to acquire data for internally representation of the geometry of the part's surface, exploiting the mobility of the robot. The CCD camera view defines the working area while the ultrasonic sensors enable the acquisition of the surface profile.","PeriodicalId":136064,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004. The quality of the synthetic speech is the main reason, why they must take into account not only technical equipment but also phonetic and phonological rules. Several years ago only the ability to understand was the main goal of speech synthesizers, whereas today synthesizers output must be as close to natural language as possible. It is a very difficult task to fulfil this requirement because the speech signal is the conjunction of several influences, physiological, technical and linguistic ones. The last two domains are the subjects of this paper.","PeriodicalId":136064,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004. Previously, many researches have been done on this algorithm in static modeling problems, but not in dynamic ones. In this paper, we try to solve these problems. Through researches, we propose a new kind of online modeling algorithm based on time window in LS-SVM and use it for modeling of complex nonlinear processes. The purpose of this paper is to show its powerful identification performances. The paper first presents the main mechanism of LS-SVM, and then discusses the optimization algorithm of time window and describes the key action of Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimization condition to this algorithm. The current feature of the model has strong relationship with L updated data. KKT optimization condition decides whether to do the retraining at each updating procedure and avoids unnecessary recalculations. LS-SVM provides great help for increasing the speed during the online modeling. Finally, this algorithm is applied to solving a multivariable modeling problem of a typical complex process in calcination kiln. The simulation results show the good prospect of this algorithm on dynamic identifications of complex nonlinear processes.","PeriodicalId":136064,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004. Such a system is able to perform both monitoring and long-distance transmission of key signals that are used as pre-fault and fault indicators. The system, moreover, may detect several anomalous working conditions by means of reliable diagnosis procedures and carries out actions to protect the electrical drive and to drive the disabled people in safe conditions. In particular the design, the realization and the performance analysis of the new dedicated diagnostic system, which exploits a programmable logic controller (PLC) as DPS hardware, are described and discussed. The effectiveness of the realization has been validated by experimental tests carried out in a laboratory test rig that has been purposely settled up. The experimental results show that the proposed DPS, thanks to the PLC performances, is able to detect the considered anomalous working conditions of the electric drive. Moreover the system is able to choose the correct protective action and to dialogue with a remote control center with trained people able to give first-aid support both in the medical and the technical fields. The information to the disabled people is supplied by means of telediagnostic facilities. The DPS is robust and friendly to use, flexible to program and easy to put on board in a wheelchair.","PeriodicalId":136064,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004. That is, how to integrate and exchange product data throughout the entire product lifecycle, ranging from design, to operation and destruction. This paper presents two approaches studied in the context of mechanical products: the meta-data approach to show how data exchange is performed in a way that guaranties best interoperability, and the features approach to illustrate a good mechanism for data integration. The study is mainly based on some examples of activities (or phases) taken from the product development lifecycle: including the entire set of activities is out of the scope of this paper, nevertheless, the proposed approaches show enough flexibility and potential to be generalized quite easily to other phases.","PeriodicalId":136064,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004. Therefore, this paper proposes auto-correlation, cross-correlation and weighted average fault diagnosis methods based on wavelet transform (WT) de-noising which combine correlation analysis with WT for the first time. These three methods compute the auto-correlation, the cross-correlation and the weighted average of the measured vibration signals, then de-noise by thresholding and compute the auto-correlation of de-noised coefficients of WT and FFT of energy sequence. The simulation results indicate that all methods enhance the capabilities of fault diagnosis of rolling bearing and pick up the fault characteristics effectively.","PeriodicalId":136064,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004.
