So, they should have the most updated knowledge and good attitude towards the disease. Hardly there is any study which evaluates the knowledge and attitude of healthcare professionals regarding Covid-19. This study assesses knowledge and attitude toward Covid-19 among HCWs across the country. Methods This was a multicentric cross-sectional study. It was performed from 10th-20th April, 2020. Convenient random sampling was used. Data was collected through self-administered questionnaire of knowledge and attitude of HCWs regarding Covid-19. Data was analysed to describe: demographic, mean knowledge and attitude score. Pearson correlation, Kruskal Wallis-H test and one way ANOVA were carried out to evaluate the relationship between study variables. Wherever required, post-hoc analysis was done using Tukey’s HSD method. Results Total 458 HCWs (56.8% were senior residents/postgraduate trainee) had mean knowledge score of 14.2±1.65 and mean attitude score of 3.80±0.52. 69.4% had sufficient knowledge but lack of knowledge was seen when Covid-19 infection rate and fatality rate was compared with seasonal flu. Nearly 85% didn’t know when to screen a patient and the components of Personal Protective Equipment. Significant difference in knowledge was seen between the junior residents/MBBS and senior resident/Postgraduate trainee, between nursing/allied sciences and consultants, and between nursing/allied sciences and senior resident/postgraduate (p-value <0.001). There was positive correlation between knowledge and attitude score (r =0.111, p =0.019). Conclusion Most HCWs had good knowledge and positive attitude but there were few lacunas. More frequent educational training programmes are required to overcome this chasm. It was conducted in six months. Simple random sampling technique was used for data collection. An Interview with the help of Predesigned Questionnaire along with detailed clinical Examination was done. Cutt off Limits of various Cardiovascular risk factors was set . . 300 Number of Patients were included in the study. \u0000Results: In both sexes, serum triglycerides and serum uric acid levels were strongly correlated (p < 0.001). In women, significant correlations (p < 0.01) were also found with almost all metabolic parameters except for alcohol consumption. In men, serum uric acid correlated with blood pressure, body mass Index and total cholesterol (p < 0.01). Age, triglycerides, BMI, alcohol consumption and hypertension were the major determinants of the variations in serum uric acid levels in both sexes. \u0000Conclusion: Hyperuricemia is also closely linked to the various components of the metabolic syndrome and in particular to serum triglycerides. Aim; The aim of this study was todetermine the prevalence of undictated hypoxaemia among children presentingto the children outpatient clinic of the department of paediatrics at theUniversity of Port Harcourt teaching hospital. Methods; This descriptivecross-sectional study of the prevalence of hypoxemia was conducted at thechildren outpatient clinic of the department of paediatrics at the University ofPort Harcourt teaching hospital. The room air oxygen saturations of paediatricoutpatients were measured at rest from May, 2019 to September, 2019 usingdigital pulse oximetry. Hypoxaemia was defined as SpO2 less than 90% inroom air at rest. Results; A total of 351 children were recruited for the study ofwhich 201 (57.3%) were males and 150 (42.7%) were females giving a Male:Female ratio of 1.34:1, 233(66.38%) were under-fives. Prevalence ofhypoxaemia was 40(11.4%). Acute respiratory infection (ARI) was thecommonest condition presenting to the children outpatient clinic in 119(33.9%)and it was also the condition with the highest prevalence of hypoxia 11(27.5%) of all the cases with hypoxia followed by malaria 4(10%) anddiarrhoea 4(10%) Oximetry finding enabled patient to be seen faster( accelerating triaging) and sent to the children emergency room for oxygentherapy amidst other treatments. In conclusions, there is a high prevalence ofhypoxemia among children presenting at the outpatient clinic of the departmentof paediatrics at the University of Port Harcourt teaching hospital. Thereshould be routine screening for hypoxaemia during emergency triage andassessment by the outpatient clinic nurses. Stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide causing 6.2million deaths in 2011. Relation of high total cholesterol and triglycerides withischemic heart disease is well established worldwide. High cholesterol level areestimated to cause 56% of ischemic heart disease. However, dyslipidemia as arisk factor for ischemic stroke has been quite controversial in recent times. Ithas been observed in several studies that higher cholesterol and triglyceridelevels are associated with better outcome after ischemic stroke.Aim:The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of serum cholesterol on themortality and morbidity of stroke.Materials and Method:We retrospectively included 100 consecutive patients over age 18 with Strokeor cerebrovascular accident or Intracranial Hemorrhage (ICH) who wereadmitted in Sree Mookambika Institute of Health Sciences, confirmed by CTwithin 12 hours after onset. Patients with traumatism, brain tumor, previousICH, hemorrhagic transformation of ischemic stroke, vascular cerebralmalformations, and patients who required neurosurgical procedures wereexcluded. Data was collected with meticulous history, clinical examination withdetailed neurological examinations along with appropriate investigations. Astructured questionnaire was used to obtain data on family history of diabetes mellitus, history of hypertension, past and present illness, dietary pattern,addiction and medication. NIH stroke scale (NIHSS) were evaluated atadmission. Descriptive and analytical statistics were performed by SPSSversion 16.IEC clearance and a written informed consent were obtained frompatient or patients attenders. A P value of less than 0.05 was consideredstatistical significant.Results:Out of the 100 patients that were included in the study, the average age was 58.6± 12.15. Male to female ratio was 3:1(75:25) which clearly states that men aremore prone to develop stroke compared to females. Among the patients who hadstroke, risk factors like hypercholesterolemia(75%), hypertension(65%),diabetes mellitus(24%), smoking(40%), alcoholism(40%) were identified.Regarding the stroke severity, 39% of the patients had a minor stroke, 44% hada moderate intensity stroke while 17% of the patient had a severe stoke. A highmorbidity rate i.e., 80% was seen in patients who had had high totalcholesterol(75%) then compared to patients who had normal lipid profile with asignificant p value (<0.02).Only 2 passed away who was also found to have highcholesterol and triglycerides.Conclusion:Our study concluded a positive correlation between serum total cholesterol.Thus early detection of dyslipidemia and treatment with drugs along withdietary modifications & lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of stroke.Keywords: ICH, Stroke, Total Cholesterol, Cerebrovascular accident","PeriodicalId":13590,"journal":{"name":"Innovative Journal of Medical and Health Science","volume":"22 1","pages":"697-701"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84146743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
