The cross section of the beam is analysed in terms of its rigidity and dimensions with respect to the span of the crane. When optimizing to reduce overall weight, recommendations are given to address the issue of cross-sectional stability. An iterative procedure for the design of the cross-section of the beam at the specified load capacity of the crane and its span is proposed. In the article, only a theoretical analysis of the issue for the selection of suitable cross-section parameters of the crane girder for optimization needs is made, with the indication of another possible procedure for the optimization process itself aimed at minimizing the weight of the bridge crane girder.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129699509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is based on the set of experimental static strength tests of the single lap shear adhesive joints. It has been shown that a slight increase in load capacity is possible by using adhesive-filled notches. However, this structural modification leads to an increase in the standard deviation of test results. Based on the fatigue strength tests done at the limit number of cycles equal to 2×10 6 , it was shown that the use of notches on the front edge of adherends, which are filled with adhesive, can significantly increase the fatigue lifetime of the joint. The effect is shown in the area of low-cycle fatigue, where for fatigue stress with a maximum value of 11.5 MPa, an increase in the average value of fatigue lifetime by 481.5% was shown for joints with notches. On the basis of fractography analyses using SEM microscopy, it was shown that the positive effect of the notches is caused by the absorption of some energy by the adhesive filling the notches, due to the increased susceptibility of the adhesive in this area to elastic deformations.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116937245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fluidic oscillators produce an active-type mixing enhancement but in a passive manner as they do not require any moving parts. They convert steady pressurized inlet flow to oscillatory or pulsatile flow at an outlet without the need for external power. In general, there are many types of fluidic oscillators, categorized by the underlying mechanism to create oscillatory output behaviour. The fluidic oscillator with the single feedback loop is analysed in this paper. A numerical simulation of oscillating flow is performed and two approaches for modelling flow, RANS, and LES are applied especially. The results of numerical simulation are compared with experimental measurement. The analysis is focused on pressure drop and oscillation frequency dependent on the inlet conditions. The energy spectrum of oscillating flow is analysed using discrete Fourier transform.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133606558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ability to quickly and easily produce almost any shape using the Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) method is used in almost every industrial sector, science and research. Materials for the FFF method can be divided into two groups, namely rigid and flexible. Flexible materials, in combination with pneumatics or hydraulics, offer a wide range of applications. However, in the FFF method, where individual fibers are stacked on each other and side by side, the question arises of whether the fibers will bond sufficiently to prevent water or air from passing through. This paper aims to design a methodology for the printing parameters of an FFF printer when printing from flexible materials to ensure that the filaments bond sufficiently for the printed part's water and air tightness. The proposed methodology is verified on printed samples by two tests, namely waterproof and airtightness tests. Two of the most commonly used highly flexible materials, namely TPU 30D and TPE 88, were selected for testing. The results of the work are intended to help the designers and technologists to calibrate the printing parameters for the printing of flexible materials for use in pneumatics or hydraulics.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131357240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This fact initiated the infamous \"dieselgate\" affair. It is a well-known reality that the current emission limits are very strict and therefore a serious problem arises for the motor car producers to meet the demanding emission requirements. The main task of the presented research work was testing of 10 passenger cars with regard to true values of their exhaust gas emissions. These cars were equipped with the diesel engines and gasoline engines that officially meet the Euro 4-6 standards. Based on the measured results it was found that the real NOx emissions of the diesel engines significantly exceed the values measured by NEDC. The results obtained using the NEDC cycle also contradict the findings from two alternative driving cycles: CADC (Common Artemis Driving Cycle; Artemis - Assessment and Reliability of Transport Emission Models and Inventory Systems) and WLTC (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Cycle).","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125307274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its primary purpose is to provide online information about ongoing production processes at monitored workplaces. The system will make it possible to monitor the usability of the machines and the load on individual machine elements to increase production efficiency and prevent machine breakdowns. Furthermore, it will allow to monitor the load on the tool and predict its wear in order to prevent irreversible damage and the production of scrap. To test the applicability of the system on a milling machine, a sample was designed, the elements of which were produced in two ways - HPC and trochoidal milling. With these methods of milling, different manifestations of the tool load were assumed. The experiments proved the functionality of the system. The method of transmission, recording and storage of data has proven to be fully functional. The additional results were knowledge of machine load during both milling methods.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116516760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
