However, few scholars proposed a method of political action to erase the thumbprint of hegemony found in many translated works. In my opinion, the concept of “cannibal translation” developed by Haroldo de Campos is an exception (De Campos & Wolff, 1986). This form of translation is a way to regain control over the meaning of existing discourses and of the systems of representations that govern our daily lives. This paper will rely on a strong theoretical background, in order to argue for the realization of a form of militancy within the boundaries of the systems of representations of language itself, in order to stop seeing the world with the “imperial eyes” (Mary Snell-Hornby, 2006) of cultural hegemony, namely of English tongue and culture in Canada and its industries in Colombia. Finally, I will approach militant translation as a method of “ideological criticism,” as understood by Slavoj Žižek. who defines ideology as a “unconscious fantasy that structures social reality” (Garcia & Sanchez, 2008).","PeriodicalId":135226,"journal":{"name":"Linguistics and Literature Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124084370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transitivity analysis was carried out by using AntConc 3.5.7 corpus analysis tool software, through which the text of the novel was first tagged and then analysed. This was clause analysis and all the types of processes, participants and circumstances were investigated. As developed by Freud, psychoanalysis provides an insight into the conflicts that are believed to lie at the roots of people’s problems. His discovery of the unconscious mind led him to believe that all dreams, jokes, slips of tongues, thoughts, behavior and action have hidden meanings, and suggest the psychic structures of the mind shape the personality. The researcher uses this theory to explore the symptoms of Electra complex in Benazir’s personality. This paper proves that Daughter of the East contains evidence of certain symptoms which prove that Benazir suffered from Electra complex. Specific strategies of narratological analysis are selected for analyzing and interpreting textual evidence. This paper throws light on the deep-seated anxieties that exerted continuous pressure on Benazir’s mind. Through this analysis, the researcher has found symptoms of Electra complex in Benazir Bhutto. Benazir was so deeply in love with her father that she was unable to focus on her own life in her autobiography. She was obsessed with her love for her father and revered him as a saint. Benazir even developed a sense of competition with her siblings for the love of her father. The researcher argues that Benazir recreated her traumatic past, her father’s images, and his memories by writing her autobiography.","PeriodicalId":135226,"journal":{"name":"Linguistics and Literature Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116945328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this research is to investigate the discursive practices in the form of linguistic devices employed by PM Imran Khan to construct the discourse of economic recovery for Pakistan. A qualitative content analysis of data (collected from a sample of three speeches during his official visits to Saudi Arabia, China and Turkey) was conducted to address the underlying research questions. Frequency of recurring words was also measured to find the variation in their use. The findings unveil that a discourse of hope regarding economic recovery of Pakistan, was constructed by the Prime Minister successfully manipulating a variety of discursive practices including the use of specific terminology, repetition, constructive self-impression, figurative expressions, active voice, cohesiveness and allusions for attracting the foreign investors and giving a ray of hope to the Pakistanis back home.","PeriodicalId":135226,"journal":{"name":"Linguistics and Literature Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126379779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The religious discourse analysis is the framework and methodology of the paper. Religious polemics are categorized on the basis of spirituality present in them in contrast to the political discourse that constructs the rule of power. For analysis of the religious discourse on blasphemy case of Aasia Noreen Bibi, five speeches of the prominent religious figures of right and left wing have been selected and analysed on the basis of intertextuality for authenticity, affective, logic and lexical and syntactic construction to perpetuate the discursive practices in the realization and legitimization of the power of ideology of the actors through language. The paper delimits its scope to the case of Aasia Bibi, The study explores the relationship between religiosity and the discourse and it seeks to answer the following questions pertaining to religious discourse: What are the characteristic features of a religious discourse? What discursive practices have been employed by the religious scholars to authenticate their ideology? What lexical and syntactical forms are at work in religious discourse on apostasy that determines the demand of extremist actions from the listeners? Does religious discourse of the scholars exert power like the political discourse and accuse the opponents? The paper focuses on the creation of a religious discourse which exerts its power of ideology like a political polemic through raising sentiments employing affective construct to legitimize extremist and accusative discourse.","PeriodicalId":135226,"journal":{"name":"Linguistics and Literature Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131044623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

He used the voice of women to denote his divine love in the traditions of Ibne Arabi but he strongly condemns the patriarchal repressive traditions through his poetry. He raises his objection through the archetypical characters against the mal-treatment of the women. The women have the quality of the divine love and devotion towards their loved ones but the society does not acknowledge their elevated status. This research tries to find out the ways through which he determines the roles of women in his poetry, using the archetypes from the local folk lore for his mystical love. This will also discover how Baba Bullay Shah objects to the treatment of women in its class and caste system divisions.
