The political behavior of the religious elite; The role of the religious elite has legitimacy as a symbolic representation of the highest religious authority in society. The politicization of Identity at the local level has strengthened along with the presence of elite groups that participate in proclaiming the superiority of Identity, the spirit of communalism, feudalism, and regional issues in political events. This paper aims to analyze the relationship between the role and behavior of religious elites and identity politics in regional elections in the realm of politics at the local level. Based on the results of interviews, observations, and analysis of qualitative research data revealed: First, the dynamics of direct regional elections in Situbondo, Banyuwangi, Bondowoso, and Jember; second, the legitimacy of power and the political behavior of religious elites in regional elections; third, the current role of the elite mobilizes the masses and political campaigns and forth, the use of Identity Politics in regional elections. It relied on a quantitative method with a correlational technique and collected the data from a questionnaire using the Likert scale. {"title":"Semantic and Syntactic Anomalies of Arabic-transliterated Compound Shop Names in Saudi Arabia","authors":"Reima Al-Jarf","doi":"10.32996/ijahs.2023.3.1.1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32996/ijahs.2023.3.1.1","url":null,"abstract":"This study aims to explore the denotative meaning of compound shop names in Saudi Arabia, and identify the types of semantic and syntactic anomalies in the Arabic transliterations of English compound shop names. A corpus of compound shop names was collected from 12 major cities in a Saudi Mall Directory. After eliminating international shop names, pure Arabic shop names, single-word and duplicate shop names, a sample of 168 compound shop names consisting of locally-coined English shop names and mixed shop names was subjected to further analysis. In addition, a sample of students majoring in languages and translation took a compound shop name test where they had to judge the semantic and syntactic accuracy and acceptance of compound shop names. Results showed that 69% of the Arabic transliterations of the compound shop nouns in the sample have syntactic and/or semantic anomalies. 22% have syntactic anomalies as opposed 14% semantic anomalies and 23% have both semantic and syntactic anomalies combined. Some compound shop names are meaningless because the two elements of the compound are incongruous (Operation Falafel اوبريشن فلافل; Rude Shake (روود شيك. Others have faulty word order (Mama Batata  ماما بطاطا ; قوركان شيف) ; faulty use of the definite article ((المنيو دونتس; use of constituents in the compound with the same meaning from two foreign languages )THE BEAU WOW); the English plural /-s/ is added to the Arabic word ملهم in Max Molhams ماكس ملهمز; splitting words into syllables or two parts ) اكس و ريزAccessories(;  كلاي ماكس(Climax); combining two words and spelling them as one lexeme شرمبشاك)). Responses to the judgment test of the semantic and syntactic anomalies in shop names showed that the students could identify more semantic than syntactic anomalies (90% vs 80% respectively). They had difficulty understanding ماكس ملهمز- قوركان شيف - أوبريشن فلافل- شرمبشاك –ماما بطاطا that have both semantic and syntactic anomalies. They found them unacceptable and difficult to comprehend. The way people speak, move their bodies, gesticulate, and handle spatial relationships are important to all kinds of interpersonal communication. In most non-verbal communication situations, as experienced in the Nigerian environment during the Covid'19 pandemic, we observed that interlocutors, even in their silent states, use nonlinguistic forms to communicate meanings (through space and body language). This paper examined the imperatives of space and body language during the Covid'19 era. Much of what has occupied the interest of scholarship has been verbal (speaking and writing) rather than non-verbal communication. But the Covid'19 challenges have opened a fresh vista of attention to the other modes of communicating messages to a target audience. This paper wondered how easy and possible it was to employ appropriate multi-modal media of information dissemination targeted at controlling the ugly situation, saving the lives of people, and achieving fidelity of desired action in such a multilingual/cultural environment as Nigeria. This triggered the researchers' selection and evaluation of some of the communications made through space (proxemics), body language (kinesics), and other non-verbal symbolic modes, their imperatives, and challenges during this period. The analysis was anchored on the multimodal theory of discourse which is an approach that takes into account multiple modes of communication and how they interact with one another to produce meaning. The study is qualitative in nature and allows the interpretation of data according to the context of use. One type of reference focuses on the theoretical analysis of sound-color correspondences in compositions. On the contrary, in opposition to restricted colorful delineation, the other type of research examines the synesthetic ideas in music from the interdisciplinary domain of musicology through a composer’s imaginative utilization of cross-modal examples. This article takes Messiaen’s music as the synesthetic example and elaborates on the different opinions between Jonathan Bernard’s sound-color correspondences and B. M. Galeyev’s interpretation of color-hearing. Based on Mikel Dufrenne’s “Phenomenology of the Aesthetic Experience” and Messiaen’s interviews, the article explains the leading cause of the divergence between Bernard and Galeyev’s aesthetic experience. Besides, this research conducts an experiment that informally requests a non-synesthete audience to report their first impression of listening to Messiaen’s synesthetic music. Afro-American playwrights have focused on cultural identity, which directly leads to their heritage, as what has been done by Wilson, who exploited his talent in dramatizing the Afro-American people’s lives. Wilson used his play to demonstrate and defend the values and culture in conflict with American and white culture, as well as to demonstrate that Afro-Americans can produce the finest literary writing to enrich American literature. So, heritage is one of the reasons for preserving individuality, as people have no identity if they do not have cultural heritage. The Piano Lesson is looking for acceptance or recognition that African culture is a part of the world’s culture that should be respected. Moreover, it is proven that there is a direct connection between creativity and mental disorder, according to some modern studies by psychologists like Kay Redfield Jamison and psychiatrist Nancy Andreason. A major transport artery connecting east Asia, south Asia, west Asia, and Europe. There is a diverse population that lives and trades here, establishing the foundation for future diversification. The Dunhuang art is influenced by a wide variety of cultures and religions, but this paper will focus on the influences of Buddhism. Buddhist art was created with the purpose of pilgrimage and visual representations of Buddha. An ancient, local technique known as the Dunhuang color sculpture has been passed down from generations for thousands of years. Due to its malleability, this technique is stronger, more durable, and weather-resistant.
