The process of electronic marketing being new to the stakeholders, the awareness and constraints entailed herein are addressed. This study evaluates the extent of awareness among farmers about different processes of e-marketing, along with the determinants of their participation. A total of 240 farm households were selected randomly through multistage sampling for the primary survey. The result of the study infers that distance to the market and farm size of the farmers was the most important factors that determine farmers’ participation in e-marketing. Awareness about different e-marketing processes among farmers is relatively lower in Andhra Pradesh compared to Karnataka. The promotion of more participation to create an efficient marketing system there is a need for elaborated awareness about e-marketing among farmers and also increases the capacity building programmes to enhance knowledge about several process of trading.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135957907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has emerged as cost-effective farming improving soil fertility and providing chemical-free food. For determining factors for the adoption of ZBNF practices in the purposively selected Wardha district of Maharashtra, conducted during 2022-23, Logit regression and for analyzing the constraints, factor analysis was used. The study revealed significant factors like integrated soil fertility management practices, adoption of ZBNF practices and IPM practices. The scarce raw materials for input preparation, management of weeds and pests were identified as input related whereas, lack of knowledge about liquid fertilizers, insect pest and weed management practices were reported as technology constraints, in case of the constraints related to labour and machinery, non availability of the bullock, high demand of skilled labour and high labour wages were reported. In case of institutional constraints, higher conversion period, high demand of skilled labour, and high certification fee were found. The assurance of better prices, purchase agencies at distant places, and lack of proper market structure were reported as the marketing constraints. In the case of political and legal constraints, a lesser number of FPOs, the synergy of the ZBNF practices with mainstream agriculture, lack of globalized market, and the need for convergence were found significant.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135958493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A scale was developed to analyze the attitude of women farmers towards climate-resilient dairy farming practices. A list of 50 statements comprising both positive and negative statements were collated and refined based on Edward’s 14 principles and 35 statements were retained for administering to women farmers from non-sampling area for further analysis. Finally, “t” value for each statement, and found that 17 statements were having “t” value greater than 1.75. The 17 statements were rained for the final scale and administered for reliability and validity testing. Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.786 confirmed the internal consistency of the developed scale. The content validity of the scale was ascertained based on the judgment of the experts. The final developed scale can be used to measure the attitude of women farmers on climate-resilient dairy farming practices in the present context and beyond the study area with modifications.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":"76 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72671077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to understand the determinants of performance and the constraints faced by them, the study was undertaken by surveying 125 FPOs of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh during April-August 2022. It was found that most of the FPOs are engaged in input supply followed by produce aggregation. The FPOs with more number of enterprising activities were able to achieve higher turnover and better net profit. Multiple regression was used to identify the determinants of paid-up capital and turnover of FPO. Members number, BOD size and years of existence were found to be the determinants of paid-up capital of FPO. Paid-up capital was found to be significant predictor of turnover of FPO. Capital requirement was found to be the biggest constraint faced by FPO in achieving better performance. It was concluded that for increasing the turnover, the FPO should focus on increasing the paid-up capital as paid-up capital can be used for scaling up and expanding the business. Extending capital loan as well as working capital loan to FPO should be made easy.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74967317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In both irrigated and rain-fed environments, agroforestry is practised to produce food, fuel, fodder, timber, fertiliser, and fibre. It also contributes to nutritional and ecological security, supports livelihoods, reduces poverty, and encourages resilient and productive cropping and farming environments. Adoption of different practices of agro forestry systems is very much crucial for sustaining the livelihood of resource poor farmers particularly in rainfed area. The present study was carried out in 10 blocks of Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 to identify different bottlenecks encountered by farmers in adoption of different agro-forestry practices. Multistage random sampling method was used for selection of 160 respondents from study area. The results show lack of awareness, lack of structural market and lack of interactions with respective governmental organizations were the major bottlenecks in adoption of different agro forestry practices for sustainable livelihood generation.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":"3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76239522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results showed that the adoption of these technologies has reduced the cost and increased the profitability in wheat cultivation. However, the adoption of these technologies especially among small farmers remains limited. Financial constraints to the adoption of Happy Seeder and the longer duration for the decomposition of straw by PUSA decomposer were reported to be major hindrances in their adoption. Educating the farmers regarding the consequences of stubble burning and the potential benefits of adopting these technologies and addressing financial constraints and improving the efficacy of PUSA decomposer may be the potential options for sustainable management of paddy straw.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":"33 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77765409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is an instrument for elevating the vulnerable section of society, particularly the farm women. Farm women contribute diligently towards dairy activities. The study was conducted in the East district of Sikkim in the year 2021. A simple random technique was used for selecting four blocks, five villages from each block, and ten respondents from each village were randomly selected. A personal interview schedule was used for the collection of data. Data were collected from 200 dairy farm women owning at least one dairy cattle. The study analyzes the feedback of dairy farm women based on five aspects, i.e., economical, technical, administrative, information networking, and independent decision-making. The result revealed that the high cost of concentrate, feed, and fodder, delayed service of animal health officials, lack of financial support from the government, irregular information on government schemes on dairy, and non-availability of financial support to women farmers were some of the major feedbacks given by the respondents.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77885784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
