The research study was undertaken in the purposively selected Dhemaji districts of Assam during the year 2022 with the objectives to study profile characteristics of Eri rearers and to explore the problems faced by them. A total of 120 farmers were selected as respondents and data were collected by following simple random sampling technique by the personal interview method using standardized structured interview schedule. Constraints faced by the Eri silkworm rearers were majorly categorized into five broad categories, viz., personal problem, non-availability of resources, problems during rearing of silkworm, marketing problems and problems related to post cocoon sector of sericulture Appropriate statistical tools viz. frequency, percentage, mean was employed to analyze the data. Findings revealed that majority of the respondents termed “lack of capital” (2.86), “unavailability of rearing equipment” (2.66), “could not get seed in time” (2.88), “involvement of middle men” (2.75) and “lack of availability of spinning machine” (2.73) as the most serious problem under each category.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88349033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aimed at developing and validating a multi-dimensional attitude scale on Conservation Agricultural practices based on Maheshwari–Kumar–Jhamtani– Bhaskaran–Dandapani (M-K-J-B-D) method. The steps included item collection, item selection, item analysis, conducting Principal Component Analysis to extract the underlying dimensions and finally calculation of attitude scores. A total of 75 attitudinal items were pooled initially covering various aspects of Conservation Agriculture (CA) and were subjected to item relevancy checking and item analysis. The final scale contained 25 attitudinal statements under eight sub-dimensions. The reliability of the scale was measured by using Cronbach’s Alpha and the reliability coefficient was found to be 0.80 which was satisfactory. The validity was assessed using content validity method by dispensing the finalized scale to 10 subject related experts. This standardized scale can be used by other academicians of related fields with or without modifications to measure attitude of farmers towards different aspects of Conservation Agriculture.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89333545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study was led in dry and wet agro climatic zones of Haryana in 2022 with an objective to assess the adoption of intercropping practices among farmers of Haryana. The primary data were collected personally from 120 respondents through a well-structured interview schedule. Findings revealed that nearly three-fifths of the respondents had medium level of adoption of intercropping practices and the farmers were adopting intercropping mainly in vegetables. Highly significant association was found between education, mass media exposure, inheritance with level of adoption of the intercropping system. A significant association was found between age, caste, annual income, land holding, extension contacts with level of adoption. The main reasons for adoption of intercropping were higher income and improved socio-economic status. The paper recommends on field training/demonstration for farmers who were adopting intercropping so that adoption of intercropping can be made efficient and from this more number of farmers will be encouraged to adopt intercropping.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81135248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted during 2018-19 in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Due to the district’s significant area under rice cultivation, Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh was chosen as the location of the research. For the sampling a total of 120 farmers, from five villages were selected randomly by using proportionate random sampling technique. ICT utilization among the farmers was the maximum and 45.83 per cent respondents were using ICT tools to a medium extent, and the mobile was the most utilized ICT tool, ranking first with a mean score value of 6.99. In contrast to age, caste, family type, social involvement, and material ownership, this showed non-significant and negative correlations with the extent to which ICT tools were used. The variable ‘education’ had a very significant and positive correlation with the use of ICT tools that mainly effect the utilization of ICT tools 19. The utilization extent of ICT tools was satisfactory but still there was need of awareness and educational programmes to be introduced in study area.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82784366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through focus group discussions, observations, and semi-structured interviews with 160 beneficiaries and 160 non beneficiaries of the farm pond programme, quantitative and qualitative data were gathered. The adoption and discontinuation of agricultural ponds were analysed using the rank-based quotient (RBQ) approach to find barriers and contributing variables. After consulting with subject matter experts, reading pertinent literature, and having a conversation with respondents, a list of constraints divided into four major categories-technical, economic, ecological, and personal constraints-and the perceived significant reason for the discontinuation of the farm pond was noted. Results revealed that the economic constraints were considered the most serious ones, with a mean RBQ value of 88.85. Followed by technological (78.25), ecological (61.82) and personal constraints (58.18). Draining the bore well or well to store water in the farm pond was considered as the most serious perceived reason to discontinue the farm pond with an RBQ value of 44.94, followed by a less productive period of farm pond reported by the respondents with RBQ values 40.38.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91380747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted during the year 2022-23. The topic “Photo-electric effect” of grade 12 was selected for KLA from feedback of 20 teachers and literature study. A sample of 50 students from two schools in Kolkata was taught the topic traditionally. Later the Kinesthetic learning activities were conducted in the classroom and school field. The data of pre KLA and post KLA were collected and analyzed using various statistical tools using SPSS software. The calculated value of t in paired t-test was 21.289 with p values 0.000 which clearly showed differences in pre and post-KLA and were highly significant. Ninety percent of the respondent students showed high satisfaction with KLA. Major improvement in post-KLA score was observed which increased from an average value of 8.00 to an average value of 15.12. Thus it is concluded that KLA was very effective in teaching the target topic. The learning from this study may be applicable across the disciplines including the field of agriculture extension to make an effective understanding of abstract topics in informal settings also.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135957719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study, conducted in 2023, encompassed all three agro-climatic zones within Telangana and employed an ex post facto research design. Data collection involved personal interviews with a sample size of 180 farmers, 30 input dealers, 30 extension personnel, and 30 scientists. The study found that more than half (57.04%) of the overall sample expressed favorable attitudes toward digital agricultural communication and services. Mean attitude scores varied, with scientists scoring the highest (172.87), followed by farmers (169.23), extension personnel (166.37), and input dealers (165.23). Regression analysis using selected independent variables produced R2 values of 0.789 for farmers, 0.805 for input dealers, 0.720 for extension personnel, and 0.870 for scientists, indicating the effectiveness of the chosen independent variables in explaining changes in the dependent variable. These findings indicate the favourable attitude of stakeholders towards digital agricultural communication and services, laying a strong foundation for advancing digitalization in agriculture. This could enhance information dissemination and service improvements in the agricultural ecosystem.","PeriodicalId":13471,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Extension Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135958097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
