So one of the most important goals of health care organizations is to assess, improve the quality of health care and increase patient’s safety. Therefore, this study was carried out to examine the degree of compliance with the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist in teaching hospitals of Jahrom. Methods & Materials: This is a cross-sectional study that was performed on all of the anesthesia and operating room nurses in educational hospitals of Jahrom University of Medical Sciences in 2016. Instruments of data collection in this research were \"demographic information and Surgical Safety Checklist\"of the World Health Organization in 2009. Results: In this study, 46/2 percent of participants were anesthesia nurses and 53/8 percent were operating room nurses. The average age of participants in this study was (31/06±6/16). The degree of compliance with the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist in anesthesia nurses was (14/27 ±1/57) and in operating room nurses was (14/76±1/96) and overall was (79/1±53/14). No significant relationship was observed between demographic variables and degree of compliance with the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist (p> 0/05). Conclusion: Considering the role and importance of Surgical Safety Checklist in increased patient’s safety, research should be conducted in order to identify obstacles in compliance with Surgical Safety Checklist to be able to take steps to resolve deficiencies and improve patients’ surgery safety.","PeriodicalId":134473,"journal":{"name":"Education and Ethics in Nursing","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130764679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
