This study examined the impact of sexual harassment on the overall well-being of female senior non-teaching workers of public tertiary institutions in Ogun State, Nigeria. Three research hypotheses were formulated and a descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population used was 150 female senior non-teaching workers from the selected public tertiary institutions in Ogun State, Nigeria. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used to select 50 samples from each of the selected tertiary institutions. The data collected was analysed using descriptive statistic of frequency and percentage while inferential statistics was used to test the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that sexual harassment has a significant impact on the overall well-being of female senior non-teaching workers. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended that the proprietors of these public institutions should make relevant legislation and regulations to guide against this as there seems to be no specific punishment for sexual harassment in the code of conduct of these institutions aside from lumping it up under general misconduct.","PeriodicalId":133905,"journal":{"name":"Interdisciplinary Journal of Education","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130101406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It adopted a descriptive survey design and was guided by four research questions. The sample for this study was 300 undergraduates using multistage sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire. Frequency count and percentage were used to analyse the questions raised. The findings revealed that misconduct of various degrees is prevalent among university students and that the prime factors such as poverty, negative peer influence, parents’ divorce and many more are responsible for illicit behaviour. The outcome of the study further revealed that if the menace still continues it can degenerate into loss of intellectual property and hurt graduates’ future employment prospects. It was recommended among others that school authorities and lecturers in higher institutions should intensify efforts in educating students on moral values that will enable them acquire a set of beliefs and values on what is right and wrong which will make them excel in their academic career rather than pursue activities and characters that would not make them relevant in the society.","PeriodicalId":133905,"journal":{"name":"Interdisciplinary Journal of Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131017081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proliferation and high- rate competition among private universities has warranted the adoption of marketing communication strategies that could capture and retain the attention of prospective students and their sponsors. The main objective of the study was to examine the influence of brand image and promotional appeal on students’ enrolment decisions into Nigerian private universities. To accomplish this goal, a survey research design was adopted and 354 undergraduates from two (2) purposively selected private universities were sampled, using simple random sampling. data was collected using a structured questionnaire. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Regression, were used for the data analyses. The results show positive significant influence of university’s brand image on students’ enrolment at F= 84.714, df= 353, sig. at 0.000. Similarly, the finding also shows that promotional appeal influences students’ enrolment at F= 291.125, df = 353, sig. at 0.000. This study contributes to the exiting knowledge in the area of brand image, promotional appeal and students’ enrolment. The insights discovered from this study would help to facilitate, develop and focus on building corporate brand image that will encourage students’ enrolment. This will also be useful for universities that wish to improve on the level of students’ subscription into different programmes offered by the institutions.","PeriodicalId":133905,"journal":{"name":"Interdisciplinary Journal of Education","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127982492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives of the study were to: examine the level of staff compensation; investigate the level of workplace behaviour; examine the level of personnel job performance; and examine the relationship between compensation and workplace behaviour, and personnel job performance. The study was a descriptive research design of correlation type. Multi-stage sampling technique was used to select three out of the six states in the Geo-political Zone and purposive sampling technique was used to select all the three state ministries of education in these states. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 503 out of the 878 staff in the state ministries of education, and 145 principal officials (Directors, Assistant and Deputy Directors) out of the 243 in the states which constituted 60%. “Compensation Questionnaire” (CQ), Workplace Behaviour Questionnaire” (WPQ) and “Personnel Job Performance Questionnaire” (PJPQ) were used to collect data for the study. The reliability coefficients for CQ, WPQ and PJPQ were 0.67, 0.75 and 0.86 respectively. Data was analysed using Mean and Standard Deviation while Multiple Regression was used to test the hypothesis at .05 alpha level. The coefficient of multiple regression (R) of 0.72 and multiple correlation of square (R2) of 0.052 were realized. The study concluded that effective compensation and efficient workplace behaviour play significant roles in enhancing personnel job performance in the ministries of education in North-Central States, Nigeria. The study recommended that, state governments should intensify their efforts by paying more attention to staff compensation through prompt payment of attractive salary, timely promotion, provision of affordable health services and improved training opportunities; and also ensure that staff maintain workplace behaviour through strict implementation of staff code of conduct and that appropriate sanctions are carried out on defaulters.","PeriodicalId":133905,"journal":{"name":"Interdisciplinary Journal of Education","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116925835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sample for the study consisted of 400 pupils, 188 males and 212 females, aged 6 -12 years, randomly selected from 16 rural/urban primary schools in Lagos State. Knowledge Prevalence and Pattern of Sexual Violence Questionnaire (KPSVQ) was used for data collection. Four research questions guided the study to examine the differences, knowledge, prevalence, pattern, and experience of pupils on sexual violence across age, sex, school type and setting. Results show that pupils in primary schools are well informed of sexual violence and its form; verbal, physical, non-verbal and quid pro quo. Majority of the respondents (79.5%) affirmed that girls are major victims and their major source of information is the media.  Strangers (60.1%), were identified as major perpetrators and willingness to report had a significantly high percentage (59.3%). Significant difference exists in sex and setting on knowledge of child abuse (t (398) = 2.21, p = .03 & 4.68, p = .00 < 0.05) but no age difference (t (398) = .55, p = .59 > 0.05) and no difference was found across sex, age and setting on the experience of child abuse (t (398) =.63, p = .53 > 0.05). No significant difference was also found between setting and reporting (t (398) = 1.63, p = .10 > 0.05). Based on the findings, it was recommended that the community must rise up to the zero-tolerance policy for all forms of sexual violence, government should ensure the enforcement of all laws on sexual violence particularly that of treating sexual violence as a criminal offence. Since the media is the major source of information, the media should be used for the education and public enlightenment programmes on sexuality education, preventive/defensive strategies, the government must ensure improved power supply to facilitate coverage and every individual must be willing to provide a safe and caring environment for every child.","PeriodicalId":133905,"journal":{"name":"Interdisciplinary Journal of Education","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114728674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
