Although the formulation requires the discretisation of the entire volume, only unknowns placed in the scattering material (walls, etc) contribute to the scattered field. Consequently, unknowns placed in free space can effectively be removed from the update process in each iteration leading to rapid convergence. The model is validated against the Uniform Theory of Diffraction. Its computational efficiency and accuracy are compared with an alternate integral equation, the Surface Electric Field Integral Equation discretised by the Method of Moments and accelerated by the ML-FAFFA. Results demonstrating the propagation modelling capabilities of the model are demonstrated alongside a motivating example for the use of full-wave models over conventional approximate methods like ray tracing.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125399411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We studied in particular the broadcast mode where the relay node combines the bits received from the two users and retransmit the combined information to both users. Symmetric and asymmetric data rate transmissions are considered. We show that the performance of the JMR scheme that uses a higher order modulation is improved using asymmetric constellations. This was verified by calculation the capacity of the channel and by determining the bit error probability of an LDPC coded JMR scheme using Monte Carlo simulation. Moreover, increasing the degree of asymmetry will lead asymptotically to a lower order signal constellation as in a network coding scheme. Therefore, there's no need for a higher order modulation at the relay node in order to retransmit data but only to apply network coding and modulation using the constellation of the stronger link.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126352580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major disadvantage in studying this phenomenon is the difficulty to obtain the necessary data. This disadvantage is to the fact that the phenomenon is random and monitoring must be carried out for long periods of time. In these conditions the paper proposes a three-phase voltage dips software generator, by means of which voltage waveforms affected by dips are generated, wherein all the characteristic parameters can be set by the user or can be randomly generated. The tool is create especially for computer modeling research applications, but it can be used as input signal for a real voltage dip generator, taking into account the physical limitations of the hardware.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128117376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That is certainly the case with the ones related to the bathroom environment, where the strict respect of functional and privacy requirements are imposed. The paper proposes a monitoring system that is able to identify the bathroom activities taking into account requirements that an Ambient Assisted Living systems dedicated to older adults should satisfy. Proposed monitoring system consists of presence sensor, humidity sensor, and microphone-based sensor that provide autonomous and automated classification of different signals representing possible activities. Based on the sensors' data, an efficient reasoning module has been proposed, which is able to detect critical situations for user and home safety and to provide information for lifestyle pattern reasoning and daily function monitoring module.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132553478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, bandwidth fluctuations especially during peak periods can seriously impact the Quality of Experience (QoE) of users by causing intermittent freezing of the video. This paper proposes a client-oriented video streaming application which dynamically changes the video quality by using a bandwidth prediction mechanism. Bandwidth prediction is achieved by incorporating the moving average prediction algorithm in the application's logic. The application has been developed in Java and protocols such as the Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) and HTTP, as well as libraries of the System Information Gatherer and Reporter (SIGAR) and VLC media player have been integrated. Moreover, a new objective quality assessment metric, the freeze time, has been proposed to evaluate the performance of the scheme. The application was tested by streaming videos from YouTube in real time. Results show a major reduction in freeze time of over 60% and a gain of at least 2 dB is Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) as compared to static video streaming.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133833767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A state space representation and a method of the automatic development of the small signal model of the hybrid ac/dc system is achieved. The methodology to develop the small signal model is composed of four steps being construction of sub system units; development of state space models for each unit; linearization of nonlinear models and integration of all linearized models. The control architecture schemes for VSC systems are also presented in order to obtain control objectives such as control active and reactive power, and dc voltages. A multistage hybrid method based on Evolutionary Algorithms (EA) and an Interior-Point algorithm is used for the profile reconstruction. The purpose of this approach is to reduce the required amount of information as well as improving the convergence capabilities, specially when the object has a large electric size. The inverse problem is recast as a nonlinear optimization problem minimizing the difference between the measured and the estimated scattered field on an observation domain. The reconstruction of scatterers with different shapes and sizes is carried out to verify the accuracy of the method. In addition, two different EA are examined: Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). Numerical results show that a high reconstruction accuracy can be achieved, even when the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is low.","PeriodicalId":133824,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2015 - International Conference on Computer as a Tool (EUROCON)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115705695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this goal there were used the phase impedances respectively admittances matrices, determined by Kron's reduction method, applied to the primitive admittances respectively impedances matrices, the construction of which is based on the modified Carson's equations.
