The tendency to spontaneously involute differentiates this tumour from other vascular neoplasms. Though many treatment modalities have been described with advances in understanding of tumour pathology, it has been consistently found that minimal intervention under watchful observation offers the best chance of getting the best result in the long term. Though parents are extremely nervous, seeing the grotesque nature of these tumours, patient, firm counselling and reassurance is all that is required in most cases for successful management.","PeriodicalId":13287,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery","volume":"146 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76742806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The metabolic derangements in diabetes lead to secondary complications that affect multiple organ systems particularly on kidney. For early detection of kidney damage in T2DM patients are important by using certain type of urinary proteins. We aimed to evaluate the glomerular basement membrane damage and leaking of structural proteins in among different stages of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. A total 150 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients were included in the present study and again sub classified into 2 types (Normoalbuminuria 50, Microalbuminuria 50) based on their urinary ACR and also included 50 age, gender matched healthy controls. The FBS, PPBS, Urea, Creatinine, HbA1C, Urinary Albumin was analysed by using laboratory standard methods and Urinary Adiponectin was measured by using were collected from the all subjects. A statistical was performed by using SPSS Version 21.0 and P value considers < 0.05 is statistically significant. The significantly elevated levels of plasma FBS, PPBS, Serum Urea, Creatinine, HbA1c, Urinary albuminuria and Urinary Adiponectin observed in two groups of type 2 diabetes mellitus when compared to healthy controls. The Urinary Adiponectin was positively correlated with blood sugar levels and urinary albumin in two groups of diabetes mellitus. The data showed a significantly damaged foot process of podocytes and glomerular basement membrane leads to leaking of certain urinary proteins.The elevated levels of Urinary Proteins and HbA1c, Urinary Albuminuria directly indicate the damage of podocytes and glomerular basement membrane in the kidney. These studies suggest continuous monitoring of these parameters may helpful for progression of type 2 diabetes mellitus complications.","PeriodicalId":13287,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75089670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This defect usually affects either the left, right or in some cases both sides of the lip and is called a Tessier Type 3 cleft. Clefting of the face in the midline is exceedingly rare and such a case of a Median Facial Cleft Syndrome is being reported which occurs in nearly 1 in 1,000,000 live births. This was first described by Bechard in 1823 and can be sporadic or part of an inherited syndrome. The child had a median cleft of the upper lip, nose, and palate of a severe, complete variety, with absent philtrum of the upper lip, premaxilla, columella, nasal septum and vomer.","PeriodicalId":13287,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83959773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Blood supply of liver is significant for liver transplantations, radiological procedures, and laparoscopic method of operation and for the healing of penetrating injuries, including the space close to the hepatic area.The pattern of the normal vascular system of the liver comes from the common hepatic artery (CHA), originating from the celiac trunk. The gastroduodenal artery (GDA), right gastric artery (RGA) and proper hepatic artery (PHA) are the main branches of the CHA. After that, the division of the PHA composes the left and right hepatic branches.During a routine dissection with medical students from the Department of Anatomy, Parul institute of Medical sciences and research Vadodara, We found on one cadaver that the blood supply of the liver differed from a normal blood supply of liver.In one cadaver we found that liver is supplied by a direct branch from celiac trunk and in same cadaver liver is also supplied by proper hepatic artery. The knowledge about the variations in hepatic arterial anatomy is very important for surgical gastroenterologists and interventional radiologists for preoperative planning and intraoperative imaging during procedures like liver transplantation, cholecystectomy, gastrectomy, hiatal hernia repair, trans-arterial chemotherapy and hepatic arteriography.","PeriodicalId":13287,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88334826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Center of pterion is located 4cms above the midpoint of zygomatic arch and 3.5cms behind the fronto-zygomatic suture. Pterion is a reference landmark for many regions of the brain. Knowledge of various types of pterion is important in neurosurgeries as pterion keyhole approach has several advantages over traditional craniotomy; it has got radiological significance in interpretation of radiographs; in forensic medicine, it has been used for estimation of age and stature; and types of pterion has racial variations, hence it has got anthropological significance. Hence, the present study was taken to assess various types of pterion in South Indian adult human skulls. To classify the types of pterion based on Murphy’s classification and compare the right and left sides.The study was conducted on 100 adult dry human skulls collected from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences & Research center, Bangalore. The various types of pterion were noted. All the readings were tabulated and subjected to analysis. All measurements and frequencies of the data were tabulated. The mean, standard deviation for each of the measurements were assessed. Statistical software SPSS version 16 was used. Right and left side were compared using One-Way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). Various types of pterion were observed. Spheno-parietal was the most predominant (78%) type, followed by epipteric (16%), stellate (4%) and fronto-temporal (2%).: The results of the present study can be utilized by neurosurgeons, radiologists, anthropologists and forensic experts. The findings can be used in future for comparing various types of pterion from a different population, race or species altogether.","PeriodicalId":13287,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery","volume":"41 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90979929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
