Distance profile feature and background directional distribution features are used as the feature vectors for training the SVM classifier. A comparative study is made on the performance between profile feature and background directional feature efficiency using SVM. Then a hybrid feature is generated by combining these two features and comparison of accuracy is done with the existing feature. Isolated handwritten documents are collected in some forms and experiment is performed over this dataset. For training the system the collection of documents is done from people from varying age group with different work background, so that the system can work well if we take the testing dataset from real world documents.","PeriodicalId":131816,"journal":{"name":"2015 Communication, Control and Intelligent Systems (CCIS)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131209811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) concept is used to fight against long time-delay spreads at the same time interleave division multiple access (IDMA) has a simple multi-user detection (MUD) receiver structure. So OFDM combined with IDMA is a favorable technique for underwater channel. Aquatic transmissions are expensive in terms of power consumed so in this work SC-FDMA-IDMA is analyzed in terms of Bit error rate (BER). It is observed that SC-FDMA-IDMA performs quite near to other multiple access schemes. So SC-FDMA-IDMA is a better choice for Acoustic channel.","PeriodicalId":131816,"journal":{"name":"2015 Communication, Control and Intelligent Systems (CCIS)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115603022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Language Identification (LID) had been a science fiction in 1970's but today; it has been deployed in practical usage. The prosodic features of a speech are relatively simpler in their structure and are accredited to be very affective in some Language Recognition (LR) or LID tasks; irrespective of these features to be biased on numerous factors, as speaker's way of speaking, the culture and background of speaker. As because prosodic features is regardless very important, researchers against their heavy work have proven many methods for its normalization, making the feature inventory very large. In this book, we have used the maximum likelihood detector for the GMM-UBM based language model to analyze and identify various prosodic attributes in the LID tasks The entire wok includes a series of experiments on several speech corpus and different classification or/and identification technique. Constant increasing demand of cloud computing is equally popular in consumers as well as providers. But along with advancement every technology is also associated with some ill effects. On same path, cloud computing also accompanies a serious issue with it and that issue is energy consumption. In this paper Firefly Algorithm has been selected as a proposed bio-inspired approach to perform load balancing to reduce energy consumption in cloud data center. Further, the results are compared with Particle Swarm optimization Algorithm (PSO). The energy consumed in case of Firefly Algorithm is less than energy consumed in PSO Algorithm.","PeriodicalId":131816,"journal":{"name":"2015 Communication, Control and Intelligent Systems (CCIS)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115998425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using the coaxial probe feed 45° with respect to the axis of the two stub plane of the patch then excellent circular polarization (CP) is achieved. The antenna is designed with a double-layer structure, comprising a circular patch with two rectangular stubs along the diameter direction and two half parasitic rings right above it. Both patch are separated by a circular substrate FR-4 (εr = 4.3). The ground plane also defected; two circular slots are cut away at the ground plane. By using the defected ground structure (DGS) the band width also increased. This proposed antenna work at dual wide band that are 6.90 to 7.10 GHz (200 MHz) and 8.06 to 9.22 GHz (1.16 GHz). The % band width is 2.69% and 13.42% and Gain is 6.2 dB and 8.3 dB respectively. The return loss & gain of the proposed antenna show that it has promising characteristics for various C-band and X- band (7-12 GHz) radar and satellite applications. The design is being simulated using CST (computer simulation technology) software.","PeriodicalId":131816,"journal":{"name":"2015 Communication, Control and Intelligent Systems (CCIS)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124746102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of the high mortality rates of heart diseases faithful detection and classification of ECG arrhythmias is essential for the treatment of patients in the clinics. Arrhythmia classification is one of the most important research domains of computer aided medical systems. The authors have made an exploratory investigation of the classification of ECG signal. DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) method has been used to determine the wavelet coefficients which were associated with five features. The features were ranked by using class separability criteria.
