Abstract
In search of more light on multiple access schemes used in under water acoustic (UWA) communications, through this work, we try to investigate the possibility of using hybrid multiple access scheme, named single carrier frequency division multiple access-interleave division multiple access (SC-FDMA-IDMA). Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) concept is used to fight against long time-delay spreads at the same time interleave division multiple access (IDMA) has a simple multi-user detection (MUD) receiver structure. So OFDM combined with IDMA is a favorable technique for underwater channel. Aquatic transmissions are expensive in terms of power consumed so in this work SC-FDMA-IDMA is analyzed in terms of Bit error rate (BER). It is observed that SC-FDMA-IDMA performs quite near to other multiple access schemes. So SC-FDMA-IDMA is a better choice for Acoustic channel.
