It is one of the important elements of Industry 4.0 strategy, supporting human in making decisions especially based on large sets of input data. Also in length and angle metrology, opportunities are opening up to use artificial intelligence to solve technical issues. This is not only related to technology, but also to the social factor. With increasing problems related to the availability of highly qualified staff, the use of artificial intelligence methods in the selection of measurement strategy, measurement conditions, filtration techniques and other elements affecting the implementation of the measurement process and obtaining a correct measurement result, becomes a necessity. This paper discusses the possibilities of using artificial intelligence in length metrology. In the macro scale the selection of the measurement strategy and measurement conditions for contact and non-contact technology devices is presented. On a micro scale, the possibility of selecting filtration techniques and unevenness parameters for functional applications is shown.","PeriodicalId":130801,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Instrumentation and Measurement (NanofIM)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123354444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The crystallinity of the nanosheets with the stacking of the B and N honeycomb lattice was validated by the XRD, while the TEM disclosed the specimen orientations and chemical compositions of phases with the number of layers of a planar honeycomb BN sheet. The FTIR, RM and the UV-vis expressed the formation of the in-plane, out-of-plane h-BN vibrations and, the nature of the surface with the thickness together with its optical properties. BET examined the surface properties of the h-BNNSs. The gas sensing properties of the 2D h-BNNSs were also investigated on hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon monoxide (CO). The fabricated sensor based on 800 - $boldsymbol{900}^{circ}mathrm{C}$ h-BNNSs showed good sensitivity towards ppm of H2S at $boldsymbol{250}^{circ}mathrm{C}$. The excellent gas sensing properties could be attributed to high surface area, small crystallite size, defects of h-BNNSs. Overall, the h-BNNSs were found to be more sensitive to H2S than CO.","PeriodicalId":130801,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Instrumentation and Measurement (NanofIM)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127320851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis of linear correlation between parameters is helpful in selection of parameters. In this work one hundred surface textures after five machining treatments (grinding, polishing, vapor blasting, milling and one-process honing) measured by white light interferometer were analyzed. Additionally, selected twenty one-process surfaces after various treatments were studied. On the basis of correlation and regression analyses, sets of parameters describing individual surface groups and generally one-process surfaces were determined. It was found that one-process surfaces can be characterized by parameters: Sq, Sal, Str, Sdq, Sq/Sa and Sp/Sz. The extended characterization contains also parameters: Ssk, Sku, and Spd. Machining process can be identified based on the following pairs of parameters: Sq/Sa and Sp/Sz, Sdq and Sal as well as Str and Spd. Sq/Sa and Sp/Sz ratios were found to better characterize ordinate distribution of one-process surface texture than Ssk and Sku.","PeriodicalId":130801,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Instrumentation and Measurement (NanofIM)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128466210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The phenomena studied included current leakage of an insulated plate, ionization phenomena of gases surrounding the plate, optical phenomena accompanying ionization, and detection of gases synthesized under high voltage. The tests were conducted in a gaseous environment with proportions matching the composition of air at normal conditions and at reduced pressure. For comparison, the series of tests was repeated for conductive metallic wafers without the addition of nanostructures. The aim of the study was to analyze the application of nanocarbon structures for the construction of more efficient electroadhesive pads with lower power losses related to current leakage, electroadhesive pads with higher generated electrostatic force and a wider range of applicability for the attraction of different materials. The application of the nanocarbon structure on the electroadhesive pad resulted in the generation of corona discharges in the form of electric arcs and a violet-pink glow.","PeriodicalId":130801,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Instrumentation and Measurement (NanofIM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134155575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We researched how breathe acetone derived glucose levels compare to serum glucose and capillary glucose measure on two commercial glucose meters in diabetes mellitus patients at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Breath acetone samples were collected in 127 patients from a diabetes clinic which was compared to lab analysed glucose and other 2 commercial glucose meters in a cross-sectional study. 69% $boldsymbol{(mathrm{n}=87)}$ of participants had type 1 diabetes. The majority of the diabetes patients were African 49 (58.34%). The mean acetone derived glucose level was $boldsymbol{9.3pm 4.3}$ mm whereas laboratory glucose mean was $boldsymbol{9.5pm 5.3}$ mmol/l, Accu-Chek meter mean was $boldsymbol{10pm 4.3}$ mmol/L and On Call Plus meter mean was $boldsymbol{9.8pm 5}$ mmol/L. After adjusting for body mass index, sex, race, age and other variables, there was no difference between breath acetone and laboratory glucose measurements (coefficient 0.20, confidence interval-0.41 to 0.81 and P-value 0.511). Our study reports that breath acetone glucose is comparable to laboratory glucose measurement and the 2 glucometers used for monitoring in diabetes mellitus. Therefore, the device could be of clinical importance in the monitoring of glucose in diabetics. Further exploration of its use on screening for elevated glucose or criticalcare is suggested.","PeriodicalId":130801,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Instrumentation and Measurement (NanofIM)","volume":"308 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121164943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The change of the measured capacitance value causes the unbalance of the active bridge, and the circuit converts the change of the capacitance value into the change of the output frequency. A diode is used to adapt voltage levels to the microcontroller (Arduino UNO). In addition, every 1000 frequency cycles are measured and averaged to reduce the effects of direct current (DC) errors and the jitter. The selection of LT1028, as the oscillator part's amplifier, improved measurement accuracy where the simulation result error is less than 1%, and the final measurement accuracy is below 3%. The design of a smaller PCB, adding a wireless module, and realization of Android App to control and switch the reference capacitance and using the LCD make it portable and IoT compatible. The experimental results of the circuit show that under the five different reference capacitors, accurate capacitance measurement is achieved from 80 pF to 900 pF, and the frequency range is between 9 kHz and 13 kHz. Furthermore, this circuit has good linearity. Therefore, it has the potential as a portable capacitance measurement device, which can be used in a dedicated capacitance measurements for example nanomaterials based capacitive sensors.","PeriodicalId":130801,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Instrumentation and Measurement (NanofIM)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117318541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers have focused on a variety of issues concerning the performance and application of nanofluids in MQL processing. This review effort attempts to evaluate some of these researches in order to understand the influence of nanoparticles, as well as the kind and on the machinability performance of metallic materials. Furthermore, it has been found that the rise of unique types of nanoparticles and/or nanofluids combined with other types of nanoparticles considerably alters MQL processing performance (hybrid nanofluids). It has been observed that graphene oxide, paraffin wax, and soy-based nanofluids, as well as MoS2 nanoparticles and hybrid nanofluids, such as multi-layer aluminum carbon nanotubes and alumina graphene, provide effective lubricating and cooling effects in MQL processing. However, to optimize their application in machining operations, the thermophysical and wettability features of hybrid nanofluids during aging, as well as difficulties associated to nanoparticle clustering at greater concentrations, must be explored. This paper finally lists several types of nanoparticles that can be used for further machining studies to achieve collaborative effects on MQL processing performance.","PeriodicalId":130801,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Instrumentation and Measurement (NanofIM)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114569460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed system is intended to support the decision-making process regarding technical condition assessment of power transformers. The primal objective of this study is to share the idea with the academia and industry in order to find potential partners interested in practical realization of such a solution. Moreover, this paper analyzes state of the art in the field of expert systems for PD, introduces experience and competences of the research team involved in this project, and presents the results of surveys among industrial entities representing the point of view and needs of the transformer market in this matter. Results show that in most cases, contemporary PD analysis systems do not meet all the needs of their end users, and proposed expert system is sought by the industry, and would be willingly used in their practice.","PeriodicalId":130801,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Instrumentation and Measurement (NanofIM)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125894179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
