Yet this shift to digital publication does not guarantee that outputs, results or methods are reusable.  Data quality is absolutely vital for the dissemination, reuse and sharing of digital resources. Manual metadata quality control is practically impossible and as a result, many quality criteria, both semantically and structurally get overlooked and digital objects may become problematic. The aim of the research reported on this paper was to identify the data quality problems associated with the Dryad research data repository. In particular, three metadata elements (Creator, Date and Resource Type) were analysed and quality issues associated to these elements were identified. The paper concludes with some recommendations for improving the quality of metadata in research data repositories.","PeriodicalId":130180,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Electronic Publishing","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114946224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This brings about new ways of engagement with information and knowledge and the need to rethink skills and competency profiles – which enable librarians to support e-research all along the research cycle. This roadmap is based on the work of the Open Science and Research Initiative (ATT), a cross-administrative initiative established by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The goal of this initiative is to promote open science and availability of information. Exploration of recent developments of open access in the EU shows that Finland is not among the leading countries in the EU. This paper focuses on the practical action plan of this roadmap and describes how the weakest part of Finnish open science, green open access is to be lifted at international top level.","PeriodicalId":130180,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Electronic Publishing","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131946191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, a growing number of services are created to analyze, store and share research data. This has induced the Research Data Working Group of the Digital Scientific Library (BSN10) to launch an inventory of French research data management services, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The inventory covers all services that are managed by French institutions and infrastructures and dedicated to public research teams from all fields. Sixty services, provided by forty-five structures, have already been identified and analyzed. The paper describes the methodology used to carry out the inventory and analyzes these first results by service type, scope and research field. It also emphasizes the heterogeneous and emergent nature of the inventoried services.","PeriodicalId":130180,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Electronic Publishing","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133370530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Insufficient funds, lack of organization, danger of overlapping information resources, create a slow growth rate and obstacles in the provision of information material by Academic Libraries to their users. Realizing these problems and trying to avoid them CALC was created – comprised of seven members, with its main action limited only to subscriptions to Electronic Resources. Furthermore, criteria are outlined describing reasons for choosing services and electronic resources from Publishers. Also, the dissemination of cost per member institution for each deal is described through a formula created by the library directors and agreed to by the senate of each member institution. Although there are benefits of academic libraries joining the CALC consortium, the fact that there are practical and financial problems as well as challenges is not ignored. Methods, such as an evaluation on the usage of the resources and promotion of the same, must be applied by the librarians of each university consortium member. Qualitative methods are discussed and quantitative methods are presented as essential, to better evaluate the impact of resources in the research area (Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) and Return on Investment (ROI) formulas). With attention to situations like the overcoming of the Swets (CALC’s main supplier) bankruptcy, the paper continues to show that success can be achieved through proper record keeping, hard work and good relations – which is how CALC managed to continue its subscriptions to the Publishers and avoided any interruption of access to the electronic journals. Although setting up a consortium can provide many benefits, CALC is also in the process of acquiring its Legal Entity in order to be better able to process its administrative and cost actions. Further development and future actions are mentioned, including discovering how researchers are using the library’s resources to help with their teaching and research.","PeriodicalId":130180,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Electronic Publishing","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126614962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
