Explicit expressions are derived for the output power, the FM-and the AM-noise. An overall 3 dB SSB noise figure and 12 % RF bandwidth has been achieved. The RF preamplifier, using a bipolar transistor, exhibits a noise figure of 2.2 dB and has about 15 dB gain. An expression for the far-field has been derived, from which the lengths and bending angle of the conductors can be calculated for circular polarization. A useful application would be printed circuit microwave antenna for different purposes. Antennas have been made and work well over reasonable large bandwidths. These mixers, exhibiting the lowest commercially available noise figures, have been designed specifically for millimeter wave systems requirements. They utilize advanced beam lead diode technology, making possible cost-effective and reliable receiver components for use at millimeter wavelengths. 4.5 dB DSB noise figure including the IF contribution has been achieved in production mixer-preamplifiers at 94 GHz using beam lead suspended strip line technology. This leads to determining the representative points in the complex plane of the vector-ratios as intersections of three or more circles. A simple conformal mapping may be used to visualize the resolution of this method and its sensitivity to errors in the magnitude readings. This mapping transforms families of constant-magnitude-ratio circles in straight parallel lines. The coordinates in the transformed plane are the measured magnitude ratio in dB and the angle between the tangents to the intersecting circles at the intersection points. A mode matching technique is used to calculate the reactive behaviour of each junction and taper in the feed and the results are compared to those obtained using static approximations. The spurious radiation generated at the triplate to microstrip interface is also estimated and methods of reduction are considered. The measured phase and amplitude characteristics at 17GHz, of feeds manufactured using computer graphic production incorporating the phase corrections obtained from the mode matching method are given. This is intended for application in short range radar and phased array systems. The new antenna can replace the conventional MIC dipole and resonator antennas with its distinct advantages of a sharper beam for the same order of gain. The antenna is light, compact, easily reproducible and could be integrated with rest of the MIC circuitry. The antenna operates in the X-band with a gain of 6 dB and a side lobe level of 10 dB.
