Instead of using catchment basin minima in order to define object regions, the technique developed throughout this work deploys RBF neural networks to predict the end boundaries of the segmentation clusters which are formed from the watersheds created in the image histogram topography. The RBF initial parameters, such as centers, and widths, are automatically set upon the histogram peaks and minima respectively. Experimental results of this leaning algorithm make it viable for different applications of gray scale image classifications.","PeriodicalId":128530,"journal":{"name":"2015 16th International Conference on Sciences and Techniques of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (STA)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123070463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In several industrial applications, the speed is controlled by a Proportional Integral (PI) regulator, because of its simplicity. However, because of the model uncertainties of the motor, the stator resistance variation, and the variation of the load torque as an external disturbance, the PI controller becomes unable to guarantee the desired control performances. To overcome the PI insufficiency the SMC is proposed. SMC is featured by its capability to cope with the disturbances. Therefore, developing the SMC of speed presents the first contribution in this manuscript. The second contribution consists to implement the proposed approach referred as DTC-SMC using an FPGA due to its ability to execute this algorithm with high processing speed by adopting a parallel processing. The FPGA is proposed to overcome the DSPs and microcontrollers limitations, like the calculation delay due to its sequential processing. The DTC-SMC algorithm has been validated by simulation utilizing the Xilinx System Generator (XSG). The obtained results of simulation verify the proposed controller relative to the PI controller under load torque disturbances.","PeriodicalId":128530,"journal":{"name":"2015 16th International Conference on Sciences and Techniques of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (STA)","volume":"19 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120814587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design is first proposed for a class of systems where the nonlinearities are triangular with respect to the state. Then, it is extended to another class of systems involving some unknown parameters that need to be estimated together with the state. Finally, the design is extended to a class of systems where the nonlinearities does not assume the usual triangular structure. Indeed, a more general triangular structure of the system is defined with respect to the state components which are reordered according to appropriate defined characteristic indices. The gain of the proposed EHGO is provided by a Lyapunov Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE). The observer convergence is guaranteed under an appropriate set of conditions given in terms of appropriate excitation. Simulation results are given for illustration purposes.","PeriodicalId":128530,"journal":{"name":"2015 16th International Conference on Sciences and Techniques of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (STA)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121636410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents a fast space vector modulation algorithm (SVPWM) implemented on a three-phase five-level neutral point clamped (5L-NPC) inverter. The novelty of the proposed algorithm deals with the identification method of the adequate two-level small hexagon. This method computes the distance between each small hexagon center and the tip point of the reference space vector to be synthesized by the modulation algorithm. Therefore, the selected small hexagon is the one which has its center closest to the reference vector tip point. The remaining procedures needed to obtain the switching sequences of the transistors' gates are quite similar to those utilized by previous SVPWM algorithms. Computer simulations performed on a numerical model of the converter showed the effectiveness of the proposed identification method.","PeriodicalId":128530,"journal":{"name":"2015 16th International Conference on Sciences and Techniques of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (STA)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115172095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most gearbox failures initiate in bearings. High-speed bearings and planetary bearings exhibit a high rate of premature failure. A critical work of bearing fault diagnosis is finding the optimum frequency band that covers faulty bearing signal, which is a challenging task in practice. The kurtogram is a high technic used to characterize non-stationarities hidden in a signal. Thus, allows responding to the given problem. It consists to determine the central frequency (resonance) and the appropriate bandwidth witch maximizes the kurtosis. This paper addresses a squared envelope based spectral kurtosis method diagnosis for skidding in high-speed shaft bearings. We have verified the potential of the spectral kurtosis diagnostic strategy in performance improvements for single-defect diagnosis using real measured data from a drive train wind turbine.","PeriodicalId":128530,"journal":{"name":"2015 16th International Conference on Sciences and Techniques of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (STA)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123603007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The base drive has a primary order effect on the switching speed during the turn-off phase of power bipolar junction transistors. Hence, we will focus in this paper, through numerical simulation using the finite element method, on the influence of the base negative drive, on the turn-off transient behavior of Silicon and Silicon Carbide power bipolar junction transistors. Consequently, one of benefits of using Silicon Carbide material instead of Silicon in designing of power bipolar junction transistors has been highlighted.","PeriodicalId":128530,"journal":{"name":"2015 16th International Conference on Sciences and Techniques of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (STA)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127701581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to overcome the problems caused by electromechanical oscillation, additional stabilizing signals are used. Automatic voltage regulators act on the exciters to reach the desired voltage, and turbine governors act on the admission servo-motor to rectify the speed of the generator. Nonetheless, the interaction between the power system components and these devices requires optimization.
