Caregivers play a central role in the rehabilitation of these children. This was a hospital based cross sectional study in the Department of Pediatrics in the year 2021-22 in a tertiary care government hospital in Kerala.Caregiver burden was assessed using Zarit Burden Interview and the clinical profile was assessed using a self made proforma. This was done for 86 children and their caregivers.A total of 86 children and caregivers were included in the study and the Zarit burden scores were compared between the categories. 55.8% of the caregivers fell into the category of severe burden. Amongst these, in caregivers of children with cerebral palsy, 68% had a burden score of >60 or categorized as severe burden. In cerebral palsy, the burden score of those caregivers of children with spastic quadriparesis showed 81% falling into the category of severe burden.Caregiver burden continues to be a big concern in our setting where the families are plagued not only by factors affecting the health of their child but also with social and financial burden. Burnout of the caregivers can in turn affect the well being of their children and families.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133201011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sometimes, mothers cannot breast feed their babies due to various causes related to mother and newborn. Human breast milk can be stored and can be used for feeding these newborns and this may help in decreasing neonatal mortality rate. Therefore, nursing officers should have up to date information regarding the human milk banking along with doctors. The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge of nursing officers regarding importance of human milk banking. This quantitative, descriptive research study was used to assess the knowledge of nursing officers regarding the human milk banking and to identify service-related factors associated with the level of knowledge. Two hundred and six participants were enrolled who fulfilled the inclusion criteria of the study. A structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge level among the nursing officers. Both descriptive and inferential statistical methods were used for the analysis of data. Study findings revealed that out of total 206 participants, maximum were in the age group of 31-40 years (63.6%). 57.8% nursing officers have adequate knowledge regarding importance of human milk banking. Knowledge of nursing officers was significantly associated with working department. Study concluded that knowledge of nursing officers regarding importance of human milk banking is satisfactory. Conduction of regular in-service programs and periodic rotation of nursing officers in each department may also help in upgrading the knowledge about human milk banking.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116940687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has a reported incidence of 4-5% and is usually the result of a palatal malposition of the maxillary incisors resulting from a lingual eruption path. Three male patients reported to the department of pediatric and preventive dentistry, Sri Aurobindo College of Dentistry with the chief finding of anterior cross bite were treated with different fixed and removable treatment modalities. It usually occurs in peri and post-menopausal women. Herein, we report a rare case of a 14 year girl, known case of recurrent Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) presenting with periductal stromal sarcoma of breast. To the best of our knowledge, this is a first of its kind to be reported in literature. A 14year girl, known case of Recurrent Pleomorphic Rhabdomyosarcoma of retroperitoneum, presented with an abdominal mass and lump in right breast after 10 years. On chemotherapy, abdominal mass regressed and breast lump progressed in size. On further evaluation by histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry, the breast lump turned out to be a periductal stromal sarcoma. Periductal stromal tumors have histological similarities to phyllodes tumors, with the biphasic presence of hypercellular and variably atypical, mitotically active stroma hugging benign epithelium. There are very few case reports on periductal stromal tumors and thus a rare entity. PSS as a metachronous presentation with recurrent RMS is even more rare with the prevalence of multiple soft tissue sarcomas being 0.08%. A clinically suspected metastatic lesion, if accessible for biopsy, warrants a meticulous histopathological examination to ascertain the cell of origin. The therapeutic strategy and prognosis of PSS is unclear, thus a longer follow up is imperative to determine its prognosis and clinical outcome. 2 case reported so far in younger individuals. 1st case of PSS in a Recurrent RMS.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128991638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pregnant women continued to be vulnerable to COVID‐19. Infant protection from covid-19 infection is primarily dependent on neonatal innate immune responses and maternally derived, transplacentally acquired antibodies. Our aim was to study trans placental passage of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody and the magnitude of natural passive immunity in infants born to mothers with covid 19. Prospective observational study was conducted at Balchikitsalay of MBGH, RNT medical college, Udaipur, Rajasthan from June 2021 to December 2022. Mothers with history of covid-19 positive in past at time of delivery in our hospital[MBGH] and all infants [0 days to 12 months] delivered from covid positive mothers who fulfill inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled in study. Measurement of SARS Cov2 antibody titre (serum IgG) in mothers and infants at our central lab where this sample was analysed by electrochemiluminescence. Total 100 covid-19 positive mothers and their infants who fulfill inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled in study. Out of 100 infants, 59% were males and 41% were females. Out of 100 infants, 12 (12%) were found in age group of <=3 months, followed by 32 (32%) in 4-6 months age group, 32 (32%) in 7-9 months and 24 (24%) in 10 -12 months age group. In our study 100 infants had different antibody titre level at different age. In Age group <= 3 months had maximum mean value of Antibody titre 135 AU/ml , followed by 26.5 AU/ml in Age group 4-6months ,then 2.5 AU/ml in age group 7-9 months, and 0.5 AU/ml in age group 10-12 months. Antibody titre value sharply fall after birth and antibody titre remain almost one tenth of birth, after age of 3 month. After 6 month of age, it fall below protective level (10 Au/ml). In our study protective value of antibody titre remain till 6th month of age, after that antibody titre decline below protective value. So we recommended that vaccination against covid-19 should be started after 6th month of life like other influenza virus","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"142 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125262637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The management of acute diarrhoea consists of the replacement of lost fluid with glucose-electrolyte oral rehydration solution. Probiotics have been used as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of acute diarrhoea. In this study we evaluated the efficacy of Bacillus clausii (TIL 19T, TIL 21C, TIL 28S, TIL 30R) in management of Acute diarrhoea in children. 48 children aged between 6 months and 15 years with acute bacterial gastroenteritis or acute viral gastroenteritis were included in the study. The study group received poly antibiotic resistant B. clausii strains (TIL 19T, TIL 21C, TIL 28S, TIL 30R)as a probiotic along with standard treatment for diarrhoea and the control group received standard treatment for diarrhoea without B. clausii. The results at the end of 48 hours showed a significant improvement in very severe and high grade diarrhoea category in the children belonging to the study group. That is, all patients had recovered to low grade or normal grade (P < 0.01). Analysis of diarrhoeal stool group showed 64% of children in the control group continued to have loose stools as compared to just 24% in the study group (P < 0.01). No serious adverse events were recorded in both the groups. The use of B. clausii strains(TIL 19T, TIL 21C, TIL 28S, TIL 30R)in Acute Diarrhoea in children has shown to improve the recovery time from the illness and improvement in stool consistency due to its probiotic effect.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128811992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Imaging and preoperative biopsy are fruitful ways to diagnose renal cell lymphoma. We report a rare case of primary renal cell lymphoma with bilateral renal involvement in a 52-year-old woman based on imaging findings, histopathology, and immunohistochemical markers. The patient is being treated with Rituximab, cyclophosphamide, adriamycin, vincristine, prednisolone, and intrathecal methotrexate. Furthermore, the present study also reviewed 22 cases of bilateral PRL that have been reported in this century to date. Typically, a higher parasite count is associated with a more severe infection and increased mortality. Delay in diagnosis and treatment also contributes to the mortality. In India, transmission of malaria is low and seasonal.Due to this unstable endemicity of the disease, we hypothesized that in our patients with malaria, morbidity and mortality will occur at lower parasitaemia levels compared to highly endemic areas. Therefore, we conducted this study at our tertiary care centre to find out correlation between parasite density and clinical profile of malaria. This observational, hospital based, cross- sectional study was carried out to find the correlation between parasite density and clinical profile of malaria in department of Pediatrics, Maharana Bhupal Government hospital, Udaipur for one year (April 21 to March 2022) duration. A total of 96 children aged 1 month to 18 years of age were enrolled. The most common presenting feature was fever (100%) followed by nausea and vomiting (68.8%) followed by headache (43.7%), jaundice (31.3%) and pain abdomen (29.2%). 60.4% patients had parasite density of less than 50,000 followed by 20.8% with below 1 lakh parasite density, 14.6% with density between 1 to 2 lakhs and remaining with higher parasite density. Maximum parasite density (more than 1 lakh/µl) was observed among P. falciparum patients, followed by mixed infection (1-2 lakhs/µl) patients. Correlation of clinical profile and parasite density revealed that as the parasite density increased there was increased in number of patients with headache, impaired consciousness, convulsions, and oliguria. High parasite density was associated with severe clinical illness and deranged laboratory parameters. As parasite density is very sensitive index, preparation of good quality peripheral blood film and proper assessment (parasite density) can help to assess the disease severity and outcome. High parasitaemia can be prevented by general measures in the form of proper education, good sanitation, and good awareness about the use of anti-larval activity.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131832277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
