Diarrhea can cause severe illness and even can lead to death in under five children. As per World Health organization diarrhea is defined as the loose, watery stools that occur more frequently than usual. Diarrhea is usually caused by virus, or sometimes, contaminated food. Less frequently, it can be a sign of another disorder, such as inflammatory bowel disease or irritable bowel syndrome. 40 under five mothers were selected from Sub district hospital Bijbehara, Anantnag Kashmir. Purposive sampling technique was used for selecting the sample. A structured interview questionnaire was used to collect data. The findings revealed that among demographic variables most of the subjects were in the age of 25-35 years (60%), (22.5%) of them were in the age group of 18-25 years, and (17.5%) were in the age group of above 35, that pretest knowledge score shows that 5 (12.5%) of the participants had inadequate knowledge. 31 (77.5%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 4(10%) had adequate knowledge. Similarly, post test knowledge score shows that (0%) of the participants had inadequate knowledge, 13(32.5%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 27(67.5%) had adequate knowledge this indicates that mean post test knowledge score 15.25 is higher than the mean pretest 10.93 the obtained t value is 13.557 is significant at p<0.05. The pre test practice score shows that 295%) had of the participants had inadequate knowledge, 28(70%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 10(25%) had adequate knowledge, similarly post test practice shows that none of the participant had inadequate knowledge, 8(20%) had moderately adequate knowledge, and 32(80%) had adequate knowledge. This, indicates that mean post test knowledge score 16.1 is higher than mean pretest practice score 12.23. Of the obtained t value 14.839 is significant at p <0.05.The findings of the study revealed that educational intervention is helpful for the mothers of under five children to manage diarrhea in early stage and its prevention for further complications.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117200151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the microleakage properties of different restorative materials. A total of 30 specimen blocks were prepared with 10 samples of each type of restorative material, namely GIC Fuji IX, Filtek Z-350 Composite, and Cention-N. Class I cavities were prepared with dimensions 1.5 x 2 x 2 mm (l x b x h) of cavity size of orthodontically extracted premolars followed by restoration of each test material. We found thatCention-N has shown the least microleakage as compared to other groups. Mean microleakage was the least for Cention-N. It’s a newer restorative material having higher mechanical properties with lesser microleakage. Cention-N is a newer restorative material having promising properties. This material can be used as an alternative restorative material.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129287554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Seizures are common in pediatrics age group and occur in 10% of children. Less than 1/3of seizures in children are caused by epilepsy. The objective of the study was to determine the clinical and etiological profile of new onset unprovoked seizure in children aged between 2 month to 18 years. A hospital based prospective single centre study at RNT Medical College, Udaipur. 111 patients admitted in Balchikitsalya with new onset unprovoked seizures during one year. Out of 111 patients with new onset unprovoked seizures, majority of patients were between 1-5 years of age with male predominance. In which most common diagnosis was seizure disorder in 78 pts (70.2%) [Generalised 76 pts (97.4%) > Focal 2 pts (2.6%)] followed by 13.5% hypocalcemic seizure, 8.1% hypoglycemic seizure. Other diagnosis was tuberous sclerosis (2.7%), white matter changes (1.8%), adrenoleukodystrophy (0.9%), arachnoid cyst (0.9%), tuberculoma (0.9%) and HIE changes (0.9%). EEG abnormality was seen in 46% of patients. Hyponatremia (36%) was significantly associated with abnormal EEG changes. MRI was done in 38.7% of the patients, out of which, abnormality was seen in only 8.6% of the children. Seizure is mainly diagnosed clinically and EEG can be normal in many patients. First episode of unprovoked seizure was common in age group of 1-5 years. EEG and Neuroimaging is useful for better diagnosis, treatment can be started on clinical diagnosis.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131730524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Body temperature is generally measured whenever there is suspicion of fever, but in neonates’ hypothermia is considered even more serious than fever. There are studies in pediatric intensive care units comparing various invasive methods of temperature measurement.This was a cross sectional comparative study conducted in postnatal wards and outpatient department of a teaching hospital. All consecutive 348 healthy term neonates between 0-28 days of life whose parents consented for participation in the study were included. The axillary temp was taken with digital thermometer and forehead temperature were measured by temporal scanner device simultaneously. Doctor and caretaker both took the temperature measurement. Out of total 348 patients 114 (32.7%) were males and 234(67.2%) were females. Mean birth weight was 2800±400 grams. Mean axillary temperature was 98.34±0.81°F, and forehead temperature was 97.81±0.89°F (p=0.44). There was a positive correlation between temperature measured using digital and infrared thermometer (r=0.914, p=0.00). The mean difference was −0.07 with limits of agreement −0.71 to 0.57.Digital axillary temperature was higher and closer to normal than infrared forehead temperature. Temperature readings by forehead infrared thermometry agree well with those by axillary digital thermometry in neonates. Hence both methods of temperature measurement can be used in neonates although Infra-red temporal touch is much easier technique than digital axilla temperature measurement","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130834729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TEF presents usually in a neonate on day 1 of life with respiratory distress, copious secretions, cyanosis, difficulty in passing Nasogastric tube along with antenatal history of polyhydramnios. A high index of suspicion is required for early diagnosis and management, to decrease the severity and morbidity and thereby preventing long term implications on neurological development. Currently, Survival rates surpassed 90% due to surgical advances, specialized anesthetic care, NICU care. However, there is a rise in TEF morbidity, partly secondary to the surgical repair or intrinsic to anatomical anomaly. Here, we described a case of a neonate admitted to Kamineni academy of medical sciences with a atypical presentation of Tracheosophageal fistula who responded well to treatment.","PeriodicalId":128335,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Medical Paediatrics and Oncology","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116430537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
