At the lower frequency, the array is dual-polarized and the elements are cavity-backed crossed slots. The height of the cavity is reduced by adopting an “inverted T” configuration. For the higher frequency, single-polarized slot subarrays are fitted between the crossed slots, and use ridged waveguide for high aperture efficiency. The all-metal design is inherently robust and its sandwich-like structure suits different fabrication techniques. The applications for this kind of antenna include both terrestrial and space-borne missions, particularly synthetic aperture arrays.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130257521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The implemented antenna is designed, and excited by aperture coupled feeding technique. The DD patch is used as a radiated element. An array of frequency selective surface FSS is used to enhance the gain of the antenna. The antenna gain is enhanced by 10 dBi. The implemented antenna obtained a gain of about 17.78 dBi at 28 GHz with radiation efficiency of 90 %. Furthermore, it has a bandwidth of about 9 %. It has a good radiation performance. For some attractive advantages such as low profile, low cost, light weight, small size, and ease of implementation, the proposed antenna is a good candidate for millimeter wave wireless communications.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129321936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then, by placing two spiral elements side-by-side, the mutual coupling effect was investigated in a two-element CB-ASA array, in which one element was excited while the other was passive with a matched load. The results show little effect on the performance of the active element due to the mutual coupling with the adjacent element, with less than 3dB axial ratio, less than 2 dB VSWR and consistent radiation pattern.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126885250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study is performed by analyzing measured time-domain radiated field and the frequency-domain antenna current Green’s function (ACGF) of a thin-wire antenna, respectively. The objective here is to compare the complex poles of the two approaches using simulation and measurement verification. Also, we anticipate that this preliminary study will facilitate developing a general mathematical formulation of the relation between spatial and transient SEMs, which remains an open problem.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127818385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
