Unlike conventional six-port based phase discriminators, the proposed architecture uses only three couplers in combination with three receiving antennas. The modeling and analysis of the DoA detection scheme prove that it is possible to improve the measurement accuracy by increasing the inter-element distance between the receiving antennas. The proposed scheme is suitable for use at 5G millimeter wave frequencies as the wavelength is less than one centimeter and many antennas could be easily integrated within the receiver.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128697200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The employed multi-port waveguide structure is manufactured using brass material to achieve an excellent electrical conductivity and high corrosion resistance. The performances of direct conversion receiver based on the fabricated multi-port structure are experimentally demonstrated in terms of various M-ary PSK modulated signals (BPSK, QPSK, 8PSK, and 16 PSK) through a reliable test bench setup. The obtained results demonstrate the ability of the proposed multi-port receiver to accurately handle low-power input signals, while performing various direct M-ary PSK demodulation at 60 GHz millimeter-wave band. Moreover, the robustness, the higher corrosion and wear resistance of the fabricated multi-port structure make it a highly suitable for use in challenging outdoor environments, such as future V-band inter-building wireless links.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132319320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically, the deposition of a $VO_{2}$ switch utilizes complex fabrication processes which result in higher costs. The ideal approach would be to use low-cost additive manufacturing techniques, such as screen printing. This work presents a novel fully screen-printed frequency reconfigurable PIFA / T-shaped monopole antenna with a printed $VO_{2}$ switch. The switch operates through thermal activation and reconfigures the frequency band. The antenna operates at 2.7 GHz band or at 3.5 GHz band for two different operational modes of the $VO_{2}$ switch. The antenna achieved 2.14 dBi gain at 3.5GHz.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"61 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130949651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We reconstruct the current distribution on an array of $lambda/2$ dipole antenna from the known far-field pattern by employing TCM. The main goal of this work is accurate faults detection and calibration of large phased array antennas with low computational cost by using their far-field data. The proposed technique is based on decomposing the total radiating field into the orthogonal characteristic far-fields that are Linearly related to characteristic currents of the array antenna. By applying this method, the total current distribution on the antenna can be retrieved with an acceptable accuracy.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126670983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The designed FSS unit-cell is composed of a Jerusalem cross shape strip at the top and a square ring strip at the bottom and holds a size of 0.46 $lambda$ $times$ 0.46 $lambda$ (at 28 GHz). The performance of the structure is optimized using CST microwave studio. In this structure, an FSS layer is employed with an array of 3 $times$ 4 of unit cells and is located in the vicinity of an omnidirectional colinear antenna array as a radiating source, which is designed to resonate at 28 GHz. Recent works have worked to quantify the nonlinear index of refraction in graphene under various experimental conditions to only produce contradictory results. A laser source producing 100 fs pulses is tuned from 800–1050 nm and the n2 is measured. Then the pulse is temporally expanded up to 500 fs using a prism pair stretcher at 900 nm and the n2 is measured. The use of graphene in integrated nonlinear photonic devices such as alloptical modulators, warrants the characterisation of the nonlinear behaviour in graphene for device design. In addition to that, the study gave us insight into the physics of the ultrafast and large nonlinear response in graphene, showing agreement with our theoretical model","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"196 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134462597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
