The proposed antenna has a diameter of 20 mm and height of 4.56 mm operating between 2.723–5.032 GHz. The antenna structure consists of a triple slotted square patch with hexagonal shape that is matched to a human head phantom. The SAR analysis shows that the antenna is capable of receiving microwave energy from deep brain and as an enabling component, it is suitable for a wearable brain temperature sensing system.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121569641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The unit-cell is designed to provide 1-bit phase quantization at 12 GHz according to ON/OFF state of switches. The unit-cell is based on a multi-layer structure with a combination of a C-patch and a ring slot loaded by a rectangular gap. The simulation results show that the unit-cell can provide two values of transmission phase with a step of 180° at 12 GHz. A transmitarray antenna is also simulated to verify the performance of the unit cells. Simulated results show a good radiation pattern and validate the beam-switching capability.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124316423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Parameters from models of diversity action are often used by designers without full regard to the inherent assumptions of the models behind the parameters. This paper presents diversity evaluation of a generic dual patch diversity antenna in terms of one widely used parameter, the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC). The calculation of the ECC is undertaken via the inner product of the antenna embedded far-field radiation patterns and circuit coupling parameters (s-parameters). These results can be used to benchmark simulations used in diversity antenna design.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"161 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131460057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The impedance approach is well suited to a lab-on-chip based analysis platform as it is label-free and does not require complicated sample preparation. We describe a microfluidic device capable of detecting single biological cells while in flow. The device has a $40zF/sqrt{HZ}$ sensitivity. The simulations show that polarization conversion ratio (PCR) is completely efficient and higher than 95% for both polarizations (x and y) normally incident EM waves so that the bandwidth is ranged from 19 GHz to 49 GHz, equivalent to 88% relative bandwidth. The mechanism for linearly polarization rotation is described by decomposed electric field components that couple with different resonance modes of the structure. Besides, the surfaces are approximately robust under the incident oblique angles. The suggested structure with the excellent efficiency of polarization conversion has various potential applications in different areas such as imaging, modern communications, and new polarization-control devices.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"549 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123918641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed idea is to combine the radiation patterns of three co-centric dipoles with 60° inter-element angle to cover the entire angular space and increase the harvested energy compared to a single dipole. A realistic design is presented consisting of three offset-fed full-wavelength dipoles printed on a low-cost FR4 substrate. By wounding the dipole arms, the antennas are miniaturized, resulting in an overall small size of the receiver which fits in a circle with a 0.3λ0 diameter at 900 MHz. The performance of the proposed antenna is analyzed by a statistical Monte Carlo approach. It is shown that the proposed antenna, despite having a much smaller form factor compared to a spatial diversity configuration with three dipoles half a wavelength apart, provides the same energy harvesting enhancement.","PeriodicalId":128207,"journal":{"name":"2018 18th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128358259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
