EMG based pattern classification has gain the utmost consideration especially in the commercial prostheses. Developing an intuitive hand control with fast response both in time and space are the major challenges. These challenges are due to the lack of information gathered from adjacent muscles. The study of adjacent muscles is crucially needed as it will allow to provide optimised hand grip and motion pattern classification without redundancy in the use of muscle information. The main aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of two adjacent flexor muscles; flexor digitorum superficial (FDS) and flexor carpi radialis (FCR), two adjacent extensor muscles: extensor carpi radialis longus (ECRL) and extensor digitorum communis (EDC) providing the perspective view of individual muscle performance compared to their adjacent muscle with respect to finger pinch and hand grip force. Practical classification results prove the significance of the study, both adjacent muscles perform almost similar with approximately >95% of similarities across different subjects. The results achieved lead to the conclusion, that the use of adjacent muscles can be reduced to only single muscle channel providing an optimised data for pattern recognition or classification.","PeriodicalId":128011,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124662279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Capacity planning is essential for meeting current and future levels of the minimal wastage requirements. Capacity planning can be applied to a company's computer network, storage and security appliances. Security appliances typically accompany most cloud-based deployments. They can be deployed in cloud either by the cloud service provider or the organization itself. This paper intends to evaluate the network overhead caused by client-deployed security mechanisms in cloud services in a fluctuating workload environment. We present in this paper several simulations performed to evaluate firewall architectures with OPNET simulator on a growing number of clients. Finally, we provide recommendations for organizations to assure proper capacity planning for deployment of security mechanisms.","PeriodicalId":128011,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121332322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A VS provides new information to the network by aggregating, elaborating and processing of existing and available electromobility data. By using Simulink software, the control systems are designed in form of three block diagrams with progressive complexity and programmed into a three-channel joystick. The first block diagram shows the translational movement according to the joystick behavior to move forward, backward, left, right, and throttle. The second block diagram is combined with the first diagram and added the rotational movement with maximum angle alteration of 57 degrees in each attitude movement. Continuous movement on circular trajectory was also analyzed to comprehend the correlation between the heading angle with the position vector. The third block diagram is the culmination of all diagrams and added the PID control to improve the stability in maneuver. The results show that the movement of quadcopter in virtual reality facilitate user to perceive the dynamic visualization of translational and rotational movement, thus it can also be of advantage for educational purpose. The integration of virtual reality and control system also reveal the vector position and generated angle, thus any possible error in the algorithm used can be precisely solved.","PeriodicalId":128011,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114359604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wind system is considered as an isolate source of power and it is composed of a horizontal-axis wind-turbine with pitch variable blades connected to a synchronous generator: consistent mathematical models for the horizontal-axis wind-turbine and the synchronous generator will be introduced. The main strength of the One-Step-Ahead control technique is its adaptivity, thus it represents a suitable control strategy. Nevertheless its convergence rate is shown to reduce very quickly. This aspect shows the primary algorithm weakness and is the reason for the proposed enhancement that, whist it allows a good level of algorithm adaptivity, effectively eliminates the local instabilities. Finally, results of control problems will prove the reliability of the suggested enhanced control technique.","PeriodicalId":128011,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121021950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For example, changing faces position respect to the camera and varying intensity of the light source, among others. Trying to mitigate illumination variation effects have been studied using different approaches, but a comparison between them and their characteristics such as processing times using a classifier is still needed. This is important to try to find a properly algorithm that can fulfill the demanding requirements for some cognitive applications. In this work, an illumination invariant face feature recognition using dual-tree complex wavelet transform is presented. A validation and testing of the proposed approach is performed using Yale B faces dataset, showing that we can obtain 90.7% to 98.5% recognition rates on the dataset depending of the illumination level with the proposed method. Additionally, a comparison between 21 other illumination normalization methods using the same classification approach is presented. Finally, an online algorithm is implemented and tested on real environments under varying lighting conditions, which is capable to recognize subject faces, and their eyes and mouth status. In particular, the on-line results of the proposed approach show recognition rates for eye blink detection from 84.1% to 90.4% on 55[ms], which may be useful for time demanding applications such as sleepiness detection.","PeriodicalId":128011,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121221371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Estimating the influence spread is a preliminary step to determine a suitable or even optimal set of initial users to reach a given goal. In this paper, we focus on a stochastic model called the Independent Cascade model, and compare a few approaches to compute activation probabilities of nodes in a social network, i.e., the probability that a user adopts the innovation. In the paper, first we propose the Path Method which computes the exact value of the activation probabilities but it has high complexity. Second an approximated method, called SSS-Noself, is obtained by modification of the existing SteadyStateSpread algorithm, based on fixed-point computation, to achieve a better accuracy. Finally an efficient approach, also based on fixed-point computation, is proposed to compute the probability that a node is activated though a path of minimal length from the seed set. This algorithm, called SSS-Bound-t algorithm, can provide a lower-bound for the computation of activation probabilities.","PeriodicalId":128011,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT)","volume":"45 15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123461973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
