In the Daidalos pervasive system this is achieved primarily through the use of virtual identities, which are used to conceal the real identity of the user. One problem with this lies in determining to what extent the user should be engaged in the decisions relating to the selection of virtual identities, and what can be done automatically. The solution lies in creating a set of user preferences to assist in taking these decisions, refining them through the use of machine learning techniques. This paper outlines the approach being investigated and describes how this will be achieved when the processes involved in building up user preferences are not trusted.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130216315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This new formalism is very suitable to specify time requirements (both time consumption due to the performance of tasks and timeouts) as well as to represent data communication among different components of a system. In addition to provide the theoretical framework, we show how this formalism, based on finite state machines, has been used as the basis to develop a real information system. This exercise convinced us that a formal approach to develop complex systems can facilitate some of the development phases. In particular, the testing phase, more precisely, how to choose which tests to apply, is simplified since tests are automatically extracted from the specification.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"21 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113975518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Voltage conveyors (VCs) and transadmittance amplifiers (OTAs) are used as active elements. The use of the current-controlled OTAs enables modifying simply the parameters of the synthetic element designed. A further advantage of the synthetic element presented is that all the passive elements used are grounded. The application of the controlled synthetic elements is shown on a realization of tunable 4th-order frequency filters, where the cut-off frequency can be changed in a range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz. The symbolic- analysis conclusions are supplemented by PSpice simulation results.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133290551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a characterization of virus replication. Two detection models are developed, one using operation sequence matching and the other using frequency measures. The research shows virus replication can be characterized and used to detect known and unknown viruses with minimal false negatives. In our testing using operation sequence matching, over 250 viruses were detected with 43 subsequences. Detection of 130 viruses, 45% of all tested viruses, occured with the replication sequence of just one virus. Our testing using frequency measures detected all test viruses with no false negatives.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"84 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133380256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additionally, the ability to let a mobile device determine its location in an indoor environment supports the creation of a new range of mobile control system applications. Main area of interest is in model of radio-frequency based system enhancement for locating and tracking users of our control system inside buildings. The developed framework described here joins the concepts of location and user tracking as an extension for new control system. The experimental framework prototype uses a WiFi network infrastructure to let a mobile device determine its indoor position. User location is used to data pre-buffering and pushing information from server to user's PDA. All the server data are saved as artefacts with their position info in building.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116101243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The security services they offer protect online service providers as well as consumers. These tokens are small embedded systems that typically have little or no human interface themselves. They work with software on the host computer for human interface and for interaction with programs on the computer or over the Internet. Since these security tokens typically provide cryptographic services and secure storage, the security of communication between the token and the host computer is a critical piece of the overall security framework. The design of this piece is a challenging task. It requires solving multiple problems, such as ensuring that the hardware token only talks with a legitimate host application; exchanging encryption keys; and minimizing the impact on communication performance. This paper presents our solutions to these problems. These solutions are applicable in a variety of hardware security tokens.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125042930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These methods are well suited for transactions where the concern is to secure the data during and after a collaboration. In the situation where the concern is to release the data without any security control after the release, these methods are unproductive. In such an environment the initial disclosure of data is crucial. In this paper we present the Optimal Data Security Module that addresses the need for an individual to select a minimal data set for a single collaboration transaction that results in the greatest return when collaborating with other entities within an information system. Therefore an individual could minimize the risk of sharing his/her data and maximize the reward when collaborating with other parties.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122555481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
