The filter operates in current mode and offers low-pass and band-pass transfer functions simultaneously. Current operational amplifiers are used as main active building blocks. An analysis of the influence of amplifier real properties on the filter characteristics is presented. The shifts of filter poles and appearance of new parasitic zeros is observed. Computer simulation with a bipolar model of current operational amplifier was used for verification of the filter functionality.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116074742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the main computational task is the evaluation of the bilinear pairings over elliptic curves, known to be prohibitively expensive, efficient implementations are required to render them applicable in real life scenarios. We present an efficient accelerator for computing the Tate Pairing in characteristic 3, using the Modified- Duursma-Lee algorithm. Our accelerator shows that it is possible to improve the area-time product by 12 times on FPGA, compared to estimated values from one of the best known hardware architecture [6] implemented on the same type of FPGA. Also the computation time is improved upto 16 times compared to software applications reported in [17]. In addition, we present the result of an ASIC implementation of the algorithm, which is the first hitherto.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127929472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The procedure of universal circuit design that can realize low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-rejection and all-pass frequency filters working in the current mode as well in the voltage mode is shown. The cut-off frequency and quality factor of the frequency filters can be controlled independently. Controlling the circuit is realized by changing the transconductance of the OTA amplifiers used.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124825802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The way to manage this challenge is exploiting application-specific gateways known as financial gateways. However, the complexities of switch protocols as well as the variety of internal and external systems make the design of financial gateways quite complicated. This paper briefly summarizes the challenges of building family of financial gateway systems and introduces a systematic approach to design and implement them with \"domain specific kit\" abstraction. This abstraction can separate system design concerns properly, isolate them in discrete building blocks, and finally compose them by means of a structured choreography model. The approach has been implemented within the context of OCTOPODA project and experimented in real life cases. The paper also presents and discusses the results of this experimentation.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"61 Suppl 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130029119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The introduction of mobility to a technology originally intended for fixed communications links introduces several interesting challenges. Two of those challenges are the variation in receiver beam profile of the FSO link and variation in received optical power due to the constantly changing transmitter-receiver separation. This paper investigates how the provision of mobile communications using FSO technology is challenged by beam divergence and optical power levels. An analytical model of the receiver beam profile of a mobile FSO link is presented, along with simulation results of both beam profile and optical power levels for a temporary mobile FSO communications link.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130929175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal is to deliver higher levels of Quality of Service. However, in practice, the support for advance reservations in Grids has been restricted to processor reservations on clusters or bandwidth reservation on high speed LANs. This is a shortcoming in current Grid architectures. In this paper, we present an analysis of current resource reservation strategies and propose a new approach to extend advance reservations to almost any Grid node. We validate our approach through the implementation of a resource scheduler and two highly scalable scheduling algorithms. We also verify the algorithms performance through simulation. The results show that the resource utilization rate can be over 90% depending on the number of reservations.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114395565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Decoupling in general and decoupling via state feedback in particular offer obvious advantages in the design and synthesis of controllers for MIMO systems. Introduction of a wireless interface can significantly simplify the maintenance operations of a DMI since no physical detaching and cabling of the component is required. However, since wireless support is becoming a part of the DMI, it shall exhibits the same safety characteristics as DMI. It implies challenges in the design of the wireless communication protocol stack and requires a special-purpose Safety Layer. The paper presents a proposed network architecture, together with the description of the protocols, where the special attention is on wireless security, session control and fault management.","PeriodicalId":127732,"journal":{"name":"Third International Conference on Systems (icons 2008)","volume":"157 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117109861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
