This paper presents an audio-emotion recognition (AER) system using parallel classifiers and an audio feature analyzer. In the proposed system, audio features such as the pitch and fractional cepstral coefficient are first extracted from the audio signal for analysis. These extracted features are then used to train a radial basis function. Lastly, an audio feature analyzer is used to enhance the performance of the recognition rate. The latest simulation results show that the proposed AER system is able to achieve an emotion recognition rate of 81.67%.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127847222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper represents the result using by Matlab software. It is known that the important factor for photovoltaic system is cost of a system, and because of several kinds of the photovoltaic array we have the right to elect the best array with the best efficiency. The popular types of materials are crystalline and thin films, which have differences in terms of light absorption efficiency, energy conversion efficiency, manufacturing technology and cost of production. Different kinds of crystalline materials like a mono-crystalline, polycrystalline are available. In this paper, the generated current and generated power by the photovoltaic array is calculated according to daily solar irradiation when the case study is Malaysia. Think over generated power of each array's and also according to required energy for a typically building, the number of photovoltaic array is estimated then the cost of the solar array is calculated. System is simulated by Matlab software, and the results are discussed. The simulation is about sizing in order to select the best array for photovoltaic system to have a optimize system according to size of the system.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128667406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first has been fuzzy modeling of nonlinear dynamical systems, whereas the second was directed towards ∞ H fuzzy gain-scheduling control systems. Regarding fuzzy modeling, that was achieved by employing TakagiSugeno (T-S) fuzzy modeling technique. Employed (T-S) modeling technique was able to cluster an entire nonlinear global model into linear sub-models. With respect to the ∞ H fuzzy gain-scheduling, the paper first presented an approach for designing ∞ H fuzzy controller for disturbance rejection via defining a suitable Lyapunov potential function of the fuzzy model, hence designing a controller by reducing the problem to a standard Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI) formulation. ∞ H fuzzy gain-scheduling was achieved via treating the (T-S) fuzzy sub-models as a Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) system, hence synthesizing a scheduling controller for variation in parameters. A network consisting of one-source-one-destination pair and N-multibranch relay nodes without a direct link between the source and the destination is investigated. A new proposed detection scheme employs the maximum ratio combiner (MRC) principle. The new detection scheme is applied at both relay nodes and the destination node, to optimally detect the original transmitted message from the source node. TiAlN coated cutting tool is widely used in machining due to its excellent resistance to wear. The TiAlN coatings were formed using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) magnetron sputtering process. The substrate sputtering power, bias voltage and temperature were selected as the input parameters and the flank wear as an output of the process. A statistical design of experiment called Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used in collecting optimized data. The ANFIS model was trained using the limited experimental data. The triangular, trapezoidal, bell and Gaussian shapes of membership functions were used for inputs as well as output. The results of ANFIS model were validated with the testing data and compared with fuzzy rule-based and RSM flank wear models in terms of the root mean square error (RMSE), co-efficient determination (R2) and model accuracy (A). The result indicated that the ANFIS model using three bell shapes membership function obtained better result compared to the fuzzy and RSM flank wear models. The result also indicated that the ANFIS model could predict the output response in high prediction accuracy even using limited training data.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125019752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mathematical model of boost converter is derived using state-space averaging technique and perturbation technique presented in this paper to linearize the small AC components. The calculations have been done to ensure the converter is operates in continuous conduction mode (CCM). The open-loop system of boost converter is developed using MATLAB/Simulink software along with the simulation results. The changing of load parameter has been studied so that the stable design of boost converter can be carried out by following a systematic procedure. However the video tracking systems is still having many open problems. Thus, some of research activities in a video tracking system are still being explored. Generally, most of the researchers are used a static camera in order to track an object motion. However, the use of a static camera system for detecting and tracking the motion of an object is only capable for capturing a limited view. Therefore, to overcome the above mentioned problem in a large view space, researcher may use several cameras to capture images. Thus, the cost will increases with the number of cameras. To overcome the cost increment a mobile camera is employed with the ability to track the wide field of view in an environment. Conversely, mobile camera technologies for tracking applications have faced several problems; simultaneous motion (when an object and camera are concurrently movable), distinguishing objects in occlusion, and dynamic changes in the background during data capture. In this study we propose a new method of Global best Local Neighborhood Oriented Particle Swarm Optimization (GbLN-PSO) to address these problems. The advantages of tracking using GbLN-PSO are demonstrated in experiments for intelligent human and vehicle tracking systems in comparison to a conventional method. The comparative study of the method is provided to evaluate its capabilities at the end of this paper.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130423937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Keyence machine vision system was used to capture mango images in HSB color space. Meanwhile, Digital AR2008 Abbe refract meter was used to obtain the value of sweetness. The process was divided into two major stages, the training stage and the testing stage. One hundred and eighty Chokanan mango images were used in this research. Fifty percent of the images were used during training stage and the other 50% were used during testing stage. In the training stage, the hue, saturation and brightness bands were analysed by using linear regression analysis. Based on the result, it has been shown that hue gave the highest value of correlation (-0.92). It also gave the lowest value of standard deviation when compared to the other bands. Therefore, it has been used as a model to determine the sweetness of Chokanan mango images. The results showed that the developed model can determine sweetness at Index 1 and Index 2 with 100% of accuracy and Index 3 with 87% of accuracy. In average, it can be used to determine the sweetness of Chokanan mango with 95.67% of accuracy.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130652597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is utilized as ANN learning mechanism for first step and second step. The fitness function for both steps is Geometric Mean (G-Mean). Firstly, the best weights on network are determined with a decision threshold is set to 0.5. After the first step learning is accomplished, the best weights will be used for second step learning. The best weights with the best value of decision threshold are obtained and can be used to predict an imbalanced dataset. Haberman's Survival datasets, which is available in UCI Machine Learning Repository, is chosen as a case study. G-Mean is chosen as the evaluation method to define the classifier's performance for a case study. Consequently, the proposed approach is able to overcome imbalanced dataset problems with better G-Mean value compared to the previously proposed ANN.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133956063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
