It is designed for a cooperative network consisting of one-source, one-destination and N-relay nodes that implement amplify-and-forward (AF) strategy. Deriving optimal relay amplifying matrix is the primary contribution of this paper. Due to cooperation role for relay nodes, new nondiagonal matrix has been observed. This matrix is minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion basis, and employs the difference between the original transmitted information message by the source and the received signal component at the destination. Effects of adverse wireless communication environments on wireless relay networks performance have been evaluated using Monte Carlo simulations. Bit error rate (BER) was used to validate the results.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115978503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A system consisting of one-source-one-destination pair and N-multihop relay nodes is studied. The system under investigation is suitable for a network of nodes with low power or widely spread nodes, where transmitted signal can reach its first tier nodes only. While signal degrades and doesn’t reach second tier neighbors. Therefore, unlike previous work in the literature, this paper studies a system where no direct link between the source and the destination node. A new proposed detection scheme using the maximum ratio combiner (MRC) is designed for such a network with uncertain channel links. It is applied at the destination to optimally detect the originally transmitted message from the source. Using the new proposed MRC detection scheme, Monte-Carlo simulation results are presented to evaluate the bit error rate (BER) for this system under study.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"42 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116504292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the supporting indicators of the food security level is the trend of the global agriculture output per capita. In this study, grain data from China between 1997 and 2007 is used as a means to indicate the level of grain security. The inputs for this study are based on 3 categories, productive indexes, consumptive indexes, disaster indexes, in total there are 11 input indexes to the system with 2 membership functions (MFs) for each input. The system output is the level of the grain security, where the target data is based on a previous study of China grain security level. We use an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) to predict the grain security level. In this case data pre-processing with the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique was used to reduce inputs to 6 to avoid too many rule parameters which would affect the optimization performance of the model. A Multi-Layer-Perceptron-Neural-Network (MLP-NN) model is used to compare with the performance of ANFIS. The result of this study shows that the resulting regression value in the case of ANFIS is around 0.99 which is better than that for the NN, which is around 0.60. Hence the ANFIS model is shown to offer better predictor of grain security level. It may also be an attractive method to explore further as a means for food security early warning monitoring systems.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133472997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A previous paper by the author relates an experience he had in Iran concerning a popular song title and its communication with the conscious mind. This paper explores some possibilities for exploration of the links between live public performance and the representation and storage of melodies, chord sequences and words in the minds of the musicians. Live performance implies real-time production of specific songs, previously developed, arranged and practised by the performers at a professional level, prior to being performed in public semi-professional situations. Success, or otherwise, leads to future bookings of the band if the quality is appropriate. From the authors' long experience, it is clear that the brain successively refines the structure of the data to optimise the storage requirements, particularly in respect of audience reaction, mistakes, needs of dancers, unexpected continuation, key change and other dynamic requirements. Such refinement of stored data and its representation presents an opportunity for study and understanding of the operation and dynamics of the human mind.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123600427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Power distribution in coupling region has been calculated by using Transfer Matrix Method (TMM) based on coupling mode theory. It has shown that if the three fibers are electro magnetically isolated, propagation constant, and separation between the fibers are maintained constant, power distribution among three fibers are periodically normalized. By launching 1mW input power to the fiber 1, it will be transferred gradually to the fiber two then fiber three. Although, the input power will be symmetrically distributed to the two others fiber by launching power to the center fiber 2. However, the power exchange between the fibers in coupling region significantly depends on the coupling length and coupling coefficient between them. It has been shown in 3D that the coupling coefficient describes how strong the coupling can transfer its power to the others. It is found, the higher coupling coefficient, the shorter coupling length is required to transfer power.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114067895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system under investigation employs amplify-and-forward (AF) tactic at relays, where N-relays forward their received signals from one-source to M-destination nodes. The new proposed optimal amplifying relay diagonal matrices, designed for single-input-multiple-output (SIMO) system, utilizes the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. It also considers power constraints at relay nodes. Impacts of jamming locations, jamming power levels and number of relays on SIMO system, were deeply examined. Evaluations of the system performance, using the derived optimal AF matrices, are presented in terms of bit error rate (BER). Comparisons between a system, that employs the amplifying matrix, and a system that does not are also presented.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128535948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to solve these problems in construction industry, simulation can be an acceptable solution. In this regard, graphical methods have become a useful tool for process simulation. To do construction process simulation with a suitable graphical display, many simulation software are developed such as PROMODEL, SDESA, and etc. This paper aims at comparing two simulation tools (software), ARENA 13 and WITNESS 2004 Manufacturing Edition, for making a construction process simulation model. It shows that both software produce almost the same results and outputs for a given construction process. Also, the paper shows different kinds of features and reports provided by ARENA 13 and WITNESS 2004 Manufacturing Edition.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124038993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The saturation of the loudspeaker-amplifier in the secondary path is considered as the dominant nonlinearity. This paper proposes a nonlinear multiple channel filtered-x least mean square algorithm (NMFXLMS) for nonlinear active noise control (ANC) applications. A Hammer stein structure is used to model the secondary path. The linear part of the model represents the secondary acoustical propagation path while the nonlinear part represents the saturation nonlinearity of the loudspeaker amplifier. An internal model control (IMC) based feedback MIMO ANC system is used for the control structure. In comparison to the conventional linear multiple channel FXLMS algorithm, simulation results show that the proposed NMFXLMS algorithm improves the noise reduction performance in ANC systems with saturation nonlinearities.","PeriodicalId":125671,"journal":{"name":"2011 Third International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Modelling & Simulation","volume":"163 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134506493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
