In this paper, analytical and finite element methods (FEM) have been introduced for electromagnetic modeling of traction transformers with four pancake split windings. Using these models, the leakage inductances between the split windings are calculated and the models have been validated with the help of experimental data gathered from a typical 4000kVA cast-resin dry-type transformer. Some reformations are employed to improve the FEM results and effects of these reformations on accuracy of the model are studied. Employing the validated models, the effects of middle yoke on the leakage inductances of split winding traction transformers are discussed in this paper.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123951011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The influence of BT addition on the crystal structure, phase transition and dielectric properties was investigated. The crystal structure and ferroelectric phase transition were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and dielectric measurements. The complete solid solution of BKT - BT was observed for all compositions. In XRD results, all compositions showed a single phase perovskite structure with tetragonal symmetry at room temperature. With increasing BT content, the separation between diffraction peaks corresponded to increasing tetragonality. The phase transition temperature of ferroelectric tetragonal - paraelectric cubic (TC) decreased with increasing BT content. As the amount of BT concentration increased, the ceramic became denser, and almost no porosity was finally obtained.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132954951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed solution based on the general 3D UTD solution for a smooth convex perfect electric conductor (PEC) scattering problem. Here, the Pekeris-integral function in the 3D UTD PEC solution is modified by using the impedance surface Pekeris-integral function and it is evalulated by using a numerical integration method without tabulated value. The modified UTD solution result shows good agreement when comparing with the exact solution and a commercial software. It is noted that this modified 3D UTD solution for a impedance cylinder surface will be very useful for predicting the field strength in the scenario modeling of the radio wave propagation","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131845893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, it is assumed that an independent system operator (ISO) controls all transactions occurring in the system. It can curtail some transactions in case there exists a congestion problem in the power system, either voltage level violation or line overload. In the bilateral market, there is a special characteristic that is different from typical other power systems. When ISO curtails load, at the same time, it must consider reducing the generation of that transaction at the same amount. The proposed transmission congestion management method is based on the linearization and the quadratic programming techniques. It has been tested with the IEEE-RTS79 system. Satisfactory results were obtained.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126632667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The leakage currents of MOV arresters are measured over a period of time against 1.0 – 2.0 p.u. of system voltage. For the experimental study, the thermal runaway property of MOV is closely related to the temperature limit which depends on the heat generation and dissipation. As the leakage current is 0.16 mA, heat generation is lower than heat dissipation. In the other hand, as the leakage current is 0.31, 0.6, and 0.8 mA, heat generation is greater than heat dissipation. The appearing of temperature distribution is observed by thermal image from thermography camera. The correlations between the electrical and thermal characteristics of MOV from the thermal image are analyzed using image processing. The developed image processing model could be used to estimate leakage current and maximum temperature of the MOV arresters.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126703708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed state of charge is divided to three states: superimposed pulse frequency charge (SPF), Constant current charge (CC) and Constant voltage charge (CV). SPF is charging state for rejuvenating a deteriorated battery due to sulfation at the plates. In this state, the pulse frequency of voltage output will vary from 10 kHz to 20 kHz to scan for mechanical resonance. A dc to dc multilevel converter is applied to generate the superimposed pulse frequency. The mechanical resonance at the plates and the sulfation reasons are also studied. The simulation and experiment are also validated the proposed charging technique. The simulation and experimental results suggest that the proposed multilevel converter charger can rejuvenate the voltage terminal of the battery even though the voltage terminal falling under 10% of SOC which is normally considering as a worn-out battery. Also, the charging efficiency would improve by using proposed charging technique with a combination of three states of charge.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122218523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
