The proposed automatic system aims to help reduce the effort and cost required by the conventional human listening test. We developed a phone-based ASR system which outputs the best matched word out of a set of target words given a patient's recorded speech. To enhance the performance of the ASR system, an acoustic model is adapted toward the characteristics of each patient's voice. With an unsupervised speaker adaptation technique, the correlation between speech intelligibility scores given by the ASR system and the ones given by human judges was improved by 57% relatively. Although the overall correlation is still not sufficient for practical use at this state of the research, there is a possibility to apply the system for some specific types of patients such as fracture which the system achieved the correlation as high as 0.91.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133496407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It used an 8-bit fixed-point arithmetic representation for the adaptive filter system based on FPGA. The design has been synthesized and simulated in Xilinx ISE. LMS algorithm is widely used in the adaptive filter for noise cancellation system or hearing aid system. We verified the parameter step size u, through simulated the LMS algorithm on MATLAB. And then, we implemented and simulated the original LMS circuit and the proposed LMS circuit which use the scheduling & resources sharing technique design in Xilinx ISE. We found that the proposed circuit uses resources less than the original circuit. Based on the XPower Analyzer tool, the power consumption is estimated. The results showed that the proposed circuit dissipates less power than the original circuit. It nearly economizes 36.4% power consumption compared with the original one.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133554596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interruption capability of SF6 self blast circuit breakers depends on the pressure inside the switching chamber at current zero. During each fault current interruption, the arc radiation induces contact and nozzle ablation. The nozzle widening causes reduction of the pressure build-up and thus results in the reduction of the interruption capability. The objective of this work is to use a non-invasive method to assess the degree of nozzle ablation without opening the interrupter and to estimate the degradation of the interruption capability. In this work, the frequency response analysis is applied to detect the change in capacitance due to the change of the geometry inside the circuit breaker interrupter.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"135 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133352643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mathematical method used in the analysis is on the basis of a state space technique. The dynamic arc equation and effects of soil resistivities on pole impedances are incorporated into the state space model. The system under the investigation is a distribution system of a Thailand electricity utility with concrete poles. The computer simulation using Scilab, an open source mathematical tool, is developed. It is found that the relationship between the arc current and the variation of the soil resistivities is in a nonlinear function.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133137765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed EBG filter will be utilized as diplexers. The characteristics of this diplexer have been studied by using CST software that was found that it can provide the very good performance. The maximum isolation and minimum insertion loss at the Rx-port when the diplexer operates in Tx-mode are around −40.22 dB and −1.38 dB, respectively. The maximum isolation and minimum insertion loss at the Tx-port in Rx-mode is around −38.42 dB and −0.85 dB, respectively. The bandwidth of Tx-mode and Rx-mode are in the range of 3.646 to 3.715 GHz and 3.141 to 3.214 GHz. This work is the feasibility study of the diplexer design by using EBG technology which can be modified to the other desired frequency bands.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127387196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The number of piecewise linear functions for estimating the static nonlinear and the maximum lag of the linear dynamic part of the Wiener model are selected by cross-validation based approach. The maximum lag and the number of partitions are selected in two subsequence steps. Three popular model selection criteria, i.e. FPE, PRESS, and CP, are considered and compared in the selection process. With the ultimate aim of compensation for nonlinearities in sensors, we have illustrated the feasibility of using the proposed method to compensate hard nonlinearities, such as discontinuous nonlinear and saturation. The results from this work can be used as a guideline of model selection for Wiener model identification and nonlinear compensations of sensor.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115514452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application of photovoltaic cell normally faces the shading problem of solar light: this will lead to inconsistent power generation and low system efficiency; therefore, the z-source circuit is applied in grid connected inverter application to improve the boosted dc bus voltage capability. The operation of a z-source grid-connected inverter is explained. The 1-kW prototype the z-source grid connected inverter is demonstrated including simulation and experimental results. The simulation and experimental results illustrate that a z-source inverter is a promising technique to apply in a grid-connected inverter in order to improve the overall grid-connected inverter efficiency and solve the shading problems.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115664507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper covers the analyzing performance problems found in service network gateways (AS), to maximize the admitted traffic flows. We present a hybrid genetic algorithm approach to optimize the summary of admitted traffic where a hybrid GA approach is combined with an order-based genetic algorithm and the greedy algorithm. We then, implement two certain algorithms which are K-center and Greedy to compare the results. In conclusion, the hybrid genetic algorithms show the best performance and yield significant improvements over techniques that only tried to minimize the length of the traffic routes or minimize bandwidth through the gateways.","PeriodicalId":123701,"journal":{"name":"The 8th Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Association of Thailand - Conference 2011","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114734730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
