In this way UEs in CRE region that associated to PBS with weak signal power may experience strong cross-tier interference from MBS. To manage this interference, almost blank subframe (ABS) is proposed which not allowed MBS to transmit data in ABS by coordinating MBS and PBS in time domain. In ABS, the number of ABS subframes is subject to constraints on the MBSs for intercell fairness. In addition, it significantly drops throughput of MBS by completely blank on the ABS. To overcome these drawbacks, an interference-aware autonomous resource allocation scheme for Heterogeneous Networks is proposed in this paper. Each PBS independently configure the Interference Aware Subframes (IASFs) based on the requirement of victim UEs in CRE region, while MBSs is not involved. In IASFs, a PBS subchannel and transmit power allocation algorithm is proposed to suppress interference for neighboring BSs and maximum total throughput. It is verified by simulation that the proposed strategy provides significant throughput gain compared with the existing interference avoidance schemes.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117118491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on data coming from a Smart City in Spain called Santander. The project in this city is called ”Smart Santander” and provides a platform for large-scale experiment based on realtime data. This paper demonstrates the possibility of predicting traffic jams and is a basis to integrate in projects to improve the quality of services. In this work, a cross validation method to ratify our training set is proposed. Data intelligence analysis techniques are used for the prediction with an implementation of Neural Network and Decision Tree algorithms. These algorithms are using different parameters coming from Smart Santander and other external sources. Furthermore, a cross validation process is also integrated to improve the final result. The traffic jam prediction for the next 15 minutes reached an accuracy of 99.95%.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"34 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125716011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An interference cancellation scheme employed at macro base station is first discussed based on the cancellation of cross-tier interference from macro base station to small cell users. Then, we derive the expressions of the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the received SNRs of both macro and small cell users, and provide the closedform expressions of average bit error rate (BER) and overall outage probability of the system, which shows that the overall performance of the HetNet network is improved with interference cancellation. The numerical results finally verify the accuracy of our analysis.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"156 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116605861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For capacity expansion, small cells of multiple wireless network are deployed densely in these systems. Because a number of the cells overlap, users must discover a lot of cells at once for cell selection. As a result, radio resources are much used for cell discovery in dense small cell environment. We have proposed the efficient network selection scheme using the positioning information and the map information. Using the map information, users can select the cell which has a better channel quality without cell discovery. In this paper, for further enhancement of system performance, new selection scheme considering the traffic load is evaluated. Using this load information, user select a network based on the expected throughput and their location. Consequently, users can avoid the congested network and select one which has a low traffic demand. We discuss the user throughput of the proposed scheme by comparing with the conventional one where users select by measured instantaneous signal strength. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the average user throughput by 52.8% in comparison with the conventional one. These performances can be achieved by feasible positioning accuracy.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121172257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The spectrum database is constructed from measurement radio environment information measured by secondary users (SUs) with mobility, and stores radio environment maps (REMs). This paper focuses on a database-aided communication parameter adaption method which can constraint harmful interference at an edge of communication coverage of a primary user (PU). The proposed method estimates a lower confidence limit of the average received power by using non-parametric bootstrap method. The estimated lower confidence limit is treated as the average value, and the allowed interference power is estimated with cumulative distribution function (CDF) of instantaneous signal-to-interference power ratio (SIR). Simulation results show that the probabilistic protection can be achieved by using the proposed method under the situation with no impact of shadowing in each separated grid. Moreover, the impact of correlated shadowing on the protection ability is evaluated.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"193 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114659124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are two common schemes proposed to achieve this: 1) geo-location database and 2) spectrum sensing. In geo-location database, calculating digital terrestrial television (DTT) location probability and maximum permitted power in each channel in an efficient way becomes important as the database is supposed to give a quick response once a request comes. Spectrum sensing is a scheme which can provide a more reliable and real-time results for spectrum occupancy. However, the high sampling rate is a big challenge in spectrum sensing for power limited WSDs. In this paper, we proposed to combine the location probability based geo-location database with compressive sensing (CS) based spectrum sensing to achieve sub-Nyquist sampling rates for WSDs. The history data from geo-location database is utilized to support the signal recovery for the spectrum sensing. In addition, a new method to calculate DTT location probability efficiently is proposed. Theoretical analysis of the proposed algorithm are tested in TVWS and it shows that performance of the proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional algorithm.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126783449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared with the traditional cellular networks with hexagon-based deployments, the amorphous cells support mobile base stations (MBS) to form dynamic cell topologies, which can adapt to the group-movement behaviors of network loads. These amorphous cells are required to be self-organized so as to facilitate distributed coordination between MBSs, whereby the operational costs can be effectively reduced. Moreover, the management of cochannel interferences needs to take MBSs' movement into account, which is the new challenge not encountered in traditional cellular networks. In this paper, we propose a distributed trajectory regulation algorithm aiming at enhancing the reliability of communications for multiple mobile-host (MH) groups, while not violating the required travel time budgets. For this purpose, we jointly consider the prediction of channel conflicts across MBSs', the channel collision costs, and cooperative channel allocation for trajectory control. Simulation evaluations show that our algorithm can well balance the reliability and travel time. The simulation results also demonstrate the reduction of failure rate for incoming calls compared with the conventional approach, especially when the network load is high.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132789166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

How to improve the channel utilization (CU) of the spectrum is a challenging topic in recent research. In network environment, the utilization of a channel is measured by the effective CU (ECU), ie., the effective time in transmission or being sensed busy over its total operation time. However, the existing work does not provide a valid model for ECU. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between ECU and interference. First, we propose a new concept of co-transmission ratio to describe the overlap time of a channel usage. Second, we find the issues of the existing models. Third, we propose a new model that is based on the channel occupations of the nodes in a network. The new model has been proved mathematically, and verified by extensive simulation results in WLANs. It significantly improves the precision of ECU modeling and can be widely used in network planning, routing protocol design, and channel allocations. We present some possible applications for the model.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130150972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These applications will support an enormous number of stations (STAs). To mitigate degradation of the throughput and delay performance in wireless local area networks (WLAN) that employ carrier sense multiple access collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol with request to send and clear to send (RTS/CTS) mechanism, we propose to reduce the overhead introduced by the hand shake mechanism. The medium access control (MAC) overhead caused by the RTS and CTS messages is high comparing to the total duration of successful transmission. In order to reduce the MAC overhead we propose in this work a new strategy to serve many users successively. This strategy consists on sending many RTS in parallel by different stations on different frequency sub-bands. Once the RTS messages do not collide with each other, there will be no need to resend the RTS and wait for a CTS to gain the channel access. In this paper, this proposed strategy is investigated and we demonstrate that it reaches better saturation throughput and delay especially in loaded networks.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133194831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, severe interference in the Hyper-Dense Networks imposes great difficulty on efficient discovery of small cells. This paper proposes an improved graph coloring based scheme to facilitate the discovery of multiple small cells in Hyper-Dense Networks. Our proposed scheme is to divide small cells that are near to each other into different groups and let each group take turns to transmit synchronization signals so that interference between small cells are reduced. Graph coloring theory is employed in the division of small cells to guarantee that small cells within a certain distance are divided into different groups. Simulation results shows that using the proposed scheme detection probability of top 10 small cells is greatly improved compared to conventional scheme.","PeriodicalId":123586,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115189664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
