An effective possibility for tracking people is based on the use of RFIDs, in such a way to have logs reporting people localization at any time. This way, the (a-posteriori) analysis of logs can provide decisive information in case of a security/safety incident. Unfortunately, in most cases, a similar solution is intolerable for privacy reasons, so that finding a good solution of the trade-off between people privacy and security/safety requirements assumes a very important role. This paper proposes an RFID-based technique to trace people but introducing a certain degree of uncertainty, in such a way that their privacy is fully preserved. This approach implements the k-anonymity property for which we are able to guess who accessed a place, at a given time, with probability k-1. An important aspect of our technique is that it is implementable via very cheap RFID tags, thus making our proposal really concrete and attractive. The experimental evaluation shows the capability of the proposed method to reach the aimed results.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116458780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They allow a provider to either share its unused resources with providers of other clouds or request resources from them when its own resources are not enough to respond to customer demand. Thus, access control is required to manage access to those shared resources. The service provider determines who can access cloud resources by delegating permissions for that purpose. Breakdown in accountability can occur in delegation of permissions among multiple clouds because of ambiguity regarding the interpretation of permission specifications. This paper discusses the breakdown in accountability for delegated permissions in cloud federations, and then demonstrates a trust model to achieve breakdown-robust accountability.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125264788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Correctness and completeness of these models determine the effectiveness of the generated test cases. Critical faults can be missed due to omissions in the models, which are primarily created manually. In practice, these faults are usually detected with exploratory testing performed manually by experienced test engineers. In this paper, we propose an approach for refining system models based on the experience and domain knowledge of these test engineers. Our toolset analyzes the execution traces that are recorded during exploratory testing activities and identifies the omissions in system models. The identified omissions guide the refinement of models to be able to generate more effective test cases. We applied our approach in the context of an industrial case study to improve the models for model-based testing of a Digital TV system. After applying our approach, three critical faults were detected. These faults were not detected by the initial set of test cases and they were also missed during the exploratory testing activities.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126416375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A number of people do not like to iron. Based on a questionnaire survey with fifteen housewives, we found that the lack of skills and knowledge in beginners were the reason for dislikes. To lower the barrier, we investigated a system to support beginners of ironing shirts. The system recognizes the position of shirts on an ironing board and the user's operational states. Then, supportive information is presented by a video projector in a way that the information is projected on an appropriate position on the working surface. The result of a preliminary user study showed successful reduction of winkles and eye gaze movements compared with a traditional method, i.e. Displayed in a separate display and initiated by a manual input from a user. This suggests the effectiveness of the proposed approach. At the same time, we found issues in the recognition of ironing activities as well as in the completeness of wrinkle reduction.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126429568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agent's anticipations of prices depend on the past performance of investment strategies. The interactions between these two trader types may generate cyclical dynamics. An alternative dominance of both trader types is observed in the market according to the relative success of the strategies. The magnitude of this dynamics is affected by the noise included in these rules. The population of the competing forecasting strategies also depends on the confidence of fundamentalists in the return to fundamentals and on the amount of trust in past price movement for chartists. Moreover such dynamics generate wide price fluctuations.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127360134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, such diagrams are widely used in domains that require a certain degree of confidence. To enhance confidence level of UML AD, we provide a formal definition of their syntax and semantics in Event B. The main interest of our approach is that we chose UML AD, which are recognized to be more tractable by engineers. We outline the translation of UML AD into Event B in order to verify functional properties of workflow models (such as deadlock-inexistence, liveness, fairness) automatically, using the B powerful support tools like RODIN. We propose a meta-model based transformation from UML activity diagrams to Event B Models. To ensure the correctness and the completion of the transformation, we propose a graph homomorphic mapping between the activity diagram and Event B models elements.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116881069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In-person interaction with an applicant is the basis of identity proofing, but that is only effective when all applicants are located near a registration authority (RA) which is responsible for verifying some or all of the applicant's identity information. Since that requirement can be hard to fulfill, especially in distributed organizations, the RA has two conventional types: local and remote. A quantitative evaluation model of system operation costs for RAs would allow an organization to determine the most appropriate RA type or combination of types for the topology of their situation. In this paper, we propose a cost structure model for various different cost factors, such as the access cost to an authoritative source, and the number of RA operators. Our model provides two major contributions: a tool for optimizing the cost-performance of a system that is determined by the choice of RA type and a quantitative method for evaluating and comparing existing systems.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126965058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is capable of providing a technology-driven approach to alleviate the healthcare needs by allowing healthcare to move from hospital-centered care to self-care, mobile care, and at-home care. When pervasive computing is used to provide technology-driven assistive healthcare, there is a need for the system to be as intelligent and sophisticated as possible, while also being as transparent and accountable as possible for both subject and caregivers. The CARA (Context Aware Real-time Assistant) healthcare system implements a sophisticated hybrid reasoning framework that incorporates both rule-based and case-based reasoning mechanisms. This provides a novel solution that combines context awareness, general domain knowledge, and automated intelligence for pervasive healthcare. The use of a sophisticated reasoning engine in healthcare demands accountability of the system. To improve the accountability of the reasoning system, we explored the use of case provenance to provide better understanding of the reasoning outcome to the user, and increase transparency. We developed a semantic-based mechanism to check the correctness and coherence of the fuzzy rules by detecting possible conflicts, this aims to eliminate inconsistency.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131439113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Software industries use many testing methodologies to assure the high-quality of their software. Code coverage is one of these methodologies usually applied to test the expected (normal) behavior of software. Exception handling structures mainly appear in software code to deal with problems caused by unexpected behavior. Because of this, they are not completely covered with the techniques for testing programs normal behavior. To overcome this limit, we present the Verify Ex, a Java class prototype, together with a Java source code instrumentation technique to exercise exception handling structures. The result is an increase of code coverage rate due to the inclusion of programs exceptional behavior in the testing execution and code coverage analysis.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129548289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach transforms a contract-based test model into an operational model, which makes it feasible to analyze correctness of the test model and generate integration tests to meet coverage criteria of the test model. This approach has been implemented in MISTA, a tool for automated generation of executable tests. MISTA allows executable test code to be generated in a rich variety of programming languages (e.g., Java, C, C++, C#, and PHP) and test execution environments. We have evaluated the fault-detection capability of contract-based test models through fault injection. The results show that contract-based tests can be highly effective in fault detection and that robustness tests targeting the situations of broken contracts are critical to finding faults related to component interactions.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123596560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
