Often software development faces serious problems of meeting key constraints of cost and time. Big projects which are well planned and analyzed, can end up in a disaster because of mismanagement in cost estimation and time allocation. Program slicing has unique importance in addressing the issues of cost and time. It is broadly applicable static program analysis technique which provides mechanism to analyze and understand the program behavior for further restructuring and refinement. In this paper, authors investigate the relationship between program slicing and software development phases on the basis of empirical studies conducted in the past and also establish the fact that how program slicing can be helpful in making software system cost and time effective.","PeriodicalId":122831,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116705306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ubiquitous sensor network give new possibilities for monitoring of human biomedical signal using wearable sensors node and allow patients the freedom to move around but still under continuously monitoring. In this paper, a new concept for wearable patch-type ECG sensor node transmitting signal via an ultra low power consumption wireless data communications unit to personal computer using Zigbee-compatible wireless sensor node. The measured ECG signals carry a lot of clinical information for a cardiologist especially R-peak detection in ECG signals. R-peak detection generally uses the threshold value which is fixed. There will be error in peak detection when the baseline changes due to motion artifacts and signal size changes. Therefore, variable threshold method is used to detect the R-peak which is more accurate and efficient. In order to evaluate the performance analysis, R-peak detection using MIT-BIH databases and Long Term Real-Time ECG is performed in this research.","PeriodicalId":122831,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116988484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a sample of 154 Chinese firms, we found that firms with effective internal control over compliance as well as over reporting are, on average, larger, financially stronger and older (it only in reporting case) than those with ineffective internal control. We also found that firms with effective internal control over compliance as well as over reporting as are more likely with more decentralized ownership, with more centralized management mode, with stronger enterprise culture and better management philosophy and at maturity state (it only in compliance case). Firms with effective internal control over operation are, on average, larger, older and financially stronger. They are more likely with more centralized management mode, with weaker control power of largest shareholder, with stronger enterprise culture and better management philosophy.","PeriodicalId":122831,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124943688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Testability Maturity Model (TMM) and Test Process Improvement (TPI) are often applied to improve the test activities. However, in the domain of embedded software, there are many different concerns from that of other software domains to achieve the high quality. This paper deals with the characteristics of embedded software and industrial corporate challenges based on the referential models suggesting the TPI-EI (Test Process Improvement for Embedded software and Industrial characteristics) model. The TPI-EI model reflects the practical improvement strategies and focuses on the evaluation procedures with cost-effectiveness. In order to check if this model is valid, the result of applying this model is explained. The proposed model provides the foundation to find out the insufficient parts of test activities, ultimately improving the test capabilities upon the self-evaluation.","PeriodicalId":122831,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116035680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Against the backdrop of technology evolution, research on human computer interaction (HCI) has begun to explore dimensions of human value derived from the aesthetics of interaction. This desire for beauty aligns to the Maslow's hierarchy of human needs which acknowledge that humans needs aesthetic satisfaction to realize self-actualization. However in the past, the main focus of aesthetics in HCI research was on visual beauty of the user interface. To further explore new forms and perspective of aesthetics of interaction, we present the notion of graceful interaction. In this paper, we present the theoretical understanding derived from the multidisciplinary areas of human basic movement, aesthetics and interaction design into a graceful interaction phenomenon of interactive interface as an attempt to build the foundations for the graceful interaction framework. We also argue that the aesthetics of human movement can be applied to the online environment and illustrates how the movement paradigm and can be aligned and mapped into user experience interaction design. Based on these theoretical understandings, several theoretical propositions are formed to describe the aesthetics dimensions of graceful interaction.","PeriodicalId":122831,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116088589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, mining association rules from them is a challenging issue since XML data is usually poorly supported by the current database systems due to its tree structure. Several encouraging attempts at developing methods for mining rules in tree dataset have been proposed, but simplicity and efficiency still remain significant impediments for further development. What is needed is a clear and simple methodology for finding the rules that are hidden in the heterogeneous tree data. In this paper, we adjust and fine-tune the label projection method which has been recently published to compute association rules from trees. The suggested approach avoids the computationally intractable problem caused by the number of nodes contained in the tree dataset.","PeriodicalId":122831,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116155042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The performance is further enhanced by adopting two policies: prefix caching and variable-sized caching. Simulations using traces from a real VOD server confirm that our proposed method considerably outperforms existing techniques based on uniform segmentation, exponential segmentation, LRU exponential segmentation and adaptive and lazy segmentation algorithm. Under VCR operations, our proposed method achieves a 35% disk load reduction by caching 2.4% of the video' total size.","PeriodicalId":122831,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122020168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
