An experimental investigation was conducted to investigate the jute and glass fiberlaminated composite for cylindricalconcrete repair.Jute and glass fiberwere used as reinforcement, and vinyl ester (VE) served as the matrix.The vacuum bagging technique was used to wrap the cylindrical concrete columns with a diameter of 50 mm and a height of 150 mm.Compression and Brazilian tests were performed on the specimen.It was discovered that the four (4) layers of jute fiberreinforced thermoset (JFRT) composite had the highest mechanical properties, with an improvement of 72.62%when compared to glass fibrereinforced thermoset (GFRT) composite. The sensor consists of four Au/Cr piezoresistors in a Wheatstone bridge configuration on a wet oxidized silicon diaphragm. To fabricate the sensor, three lithographic steps were conducted: the first one is to define the resistors and Au/Cr lines/pads, the second and the third ones are to determine the width and the thickness of the square SiO2/Si diaphragm, respectively. The sensor diaphragm shape and thickness were defined by the anisotropic etching of Si in tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH) solution, and the resistors array are formed by sputtering and wet etching method. The sensor size is 6000 μm by 6000 μm. The sensor output voltage was measured for various applied pressure levels from -0.9to 1.2 bar with 5V voltage supply. The main digit of the finger in differentiating the hand gesture is the thumb and its main muscles are intrinsic muscles. However, for transradial amputees, despite the loss of access to the intrinsic muscles, any information from the extrinsic muscles would be paramount and non-negotiablein creating a perfect hand prosthesis. As such, the research is dedicated to study the relationship between extrinsic muscles located athuman’sforearm to characterize the actual thumb attitudes.A 64-channel HD-sEMGrecording device together with a thumb force measuring platform wasutilizedtocollect the required signals from 17 participants at several thumb angle positions namely zero-degrees, thirty-degree, sixty-degrees, and ninety-degree. For each position, the participants were required to place their thumbs on top of a load cell at relax (no force at all) and contact (30% of their individual Maximum VoluntaryContraction or known as MVC) conditions repetitively by following a designated trajectory. Feature extraction was performed by calculating the Root Mean Square (RMS) values of the HD-sEMG data collected from each channel. Six different classifiers have been used to classify the relationship between the forearm HD-sEMG and the corresponding thumb positions.As a result, LazyIBK obtained the highest correctly classified instances with 81.05%. A number of recognition methods have been applied in recent years to recognize human emotion. The motivation for this study is therefore to discover a combination of emotion features and recognition method that will produce the best result in building an efficient emotion recognizer in an affective system. We introduced a shifted tanh normalization scheme to realize the inverse Fisher transformation applied to the DEAP physiological dataset and consequently performed series of experiments using the Radial Basis Function Artificial Neural Networks (RBFANN). In our experiments, we have compared the performances of digital image based feature extraction techniques such as the Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG), Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and the Histogram of Images (HIM). These feature extraction techniques were utilized to extract discriminatory features from the multimodal DEAP dataset of physiological signals. Experimental results obtained indicate that the best recognition accuracy was achieved with the EEG modality data using the HIM features extraction technique and classification done along the dominance emotion dimension. They has a role as a mechanical support and on electrical insulation that isolate the live line and dead part of the electrical poles. Environmental factors will affect the performance of the insulator. Every area where the isolator was installed has a unique characteristics, therefore the electrical characteristics of each insulator will be differ from an area to others area. This study investigated the electrical characteristics of the 20 kV insulator for some feeder that representing all regions in coastal area. Coastal area has four types of areas, namely industrial, household, city, and rural areas. The leakage current of sample of these four area were measured and the Non-Soluble Deposite Density (NSDD) of each sample were also measured. The results show that the industrial area had the highest leakage current value of 1.22 mA while the lowest leakage current was observed in the household area of 0.44 mA. These were also confirmed that the industrial area had the highest NSDD value of 0.2412 mg/cm2 and the lowest NSDD in household areas of 0.0228 mg/cm2 were observed. By varying the sodium hydroxide concentration from 5% to 25%, tree pruning waste papers with different tear resistance and surface morphology were fabricated. The tree pruning waste papers with the optimum tear resistance (73049.68 mN) was produced when the pulping medium was prepared at 20% sodium hydroxide concentration. As confirmed by the morphology study, the pulp fibres with improved interlocking surface morphology was produced at 20% sodium hydroxide concentration. Beyond that, fibre fibrillation had took place and exerted negative impact on the tear resistance of the papers. The present study confirms the use of tree pruning waste as an alternative in papermaking. However, the conversion efficiency of the conventional single-rotor wind turbine (SRWT) is still far from satisfactory. The dual-rotor counter-rotating concept is among the reliable techniques used to enhance the efficiency of a wind energy conversion device for its renowned effectiveness. This study aims to investigate the performance of a Savonius dual/twin-rotor system, particularly in low-speed wind conditions while employing the counter-rotating technique. The evaluation of this technique is presented in terms of aerodynamic characteristics, including the power and torque coefficients. The results have shown that the new concept was able to improve the performance of the system extensively and was capable of operating in a lower wind speed condition. Compared to a single-rotor system, an additional 42% more torque was possible owing to the existence of a second rotor in the new system. The results have also revealed that the conversion efficiency of the system has been enhanced substantially. A corresponding average power coefficient of up to 28% was achieved. BLDC motors are generally controlled by artificial controls such as Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). However, the performance of the BLDC control system in previous studies was compared separately with their respective parameters, making it difficult to evaluate comprehensively. Therefore, in order to investigate the characteristic performance of Fuzzy, ANN, and ANFIS, this article provides a comparison of these artificial controls. Two scenarios of the dynamic tests are conducted to investigate control performance under constant torque-various speed and constant speed-various torque. By dynamic testing, characteristics of Fuzzy, ANN, and ANFIS can be observed as real applications. The testing parameters are: Settling Time, Overshoot and Overdamp (in the graph and average value), and then statistic performance are: Integral Square Error (ISE), Integral Absolute Error (IAE), Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE), and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). The test result in scenario 1 showed that the ANN has a better performance compared to other controllers with the MAE, IAE, ITAE, and ISE value of 31.3003; 105.6280; 208.0630; and 5,7289 e4, respectively. However, in scenario 2, ANN only has a better performance compared to other controllers on just a few parameters. In scenario 2, ANN is indeed able to maintain speed but it has a more ripple value than ANFIS. Even so, the ripple that occurs in ANN does not have too much value compared to the setpoint. Existing methods try distinctive approaches to accomplish this task. Nowadays, Convolution Neural Networks (CNN) are widely used for such application which achieves higher accuracy. However, CNN's are computationally expensive and require extensive dataset for training. Other existing methods are far less resource expensive but they also have their shortcomings for example, some features cannot be processed accurately with automation, some necessary differentiators are left out. To overcome this, we have proposed a simple Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for automatic classification of plants based on their leaf features. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm able to achieve an accuracy of 96% by incorporating only a single hidden layer of ANN. The work involves of agarwood chips sample preparation starting from drying to soaking process, extraction method using MAHD and compound analysis using GC-FID and GC-MS for compounds identification. During the extraction time, four hours were varied; 2-hours, 3-hours, 4-hours The result showed that the agarwood chips in this study, extracted by MAHD are made up of three major groups; oxygenated sesquiterpenes, monoterpene hydrocarbons, and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons.
