A web application was developed, receiving data from a hardware interface, installed in each photovoltaic array allowing online power monitoring, fault detection, and configuration of remote power plant installations. The designed system is based on open-source / hardware technologies. Reports for variable periods of time of power generation at PV array, PV string, and at PV cell level are available to the system operator. The benefits, and drawbacks of the developed system are compared along with other systems presented in the literature using criteria in order to evaluate the performance of the designed system. The developed system was tested and compared to the other implementations provides many advantages, such as fault detection per PV cell, power monitoring on all components of the PV array (PV array, string and cell), and the use of open-source / hardware that significantly reduces costs, making the system ideal for small and medium enterprises.","PeriodicalId":122414,"journal":{"name":"2022 11th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121035587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the currently deployed systems, sensing and computing occur in separate physical locations, imposing a vast amount of data shuttling between the sensor module and the cloud-computing platforms. Regarding the acceleration of image processing at the edge, in this work, a memristive computing circuit has been designed. By exploiting the non-linear behavior and memory capabilities of memristor devices, a memristive circuit, capable of tracking the shifting of an image is proposed. The presented circuit design can be also combined with an array of sensors, aiming to implement a discrete image tracking module.","PeriodicalId":122414,"journal":{"name":"2022 11th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116546610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Special focus is given in compact sensors implementations, and in particular in the bulk driven MOSFET sensor, in the source follower – transconductor (SF+Gm) and in the DC coupled one. The sensors gain-bandwidth performance trade-off is addressed and all three are designed in an RFCMOS process. Their performance is demonstrated by advanced simulations results, taking into account temperature and process variations, and providing all related metrics from gain/bandwidth to linearity, power consumption and silicon active area. Selection criteria are extracted since each of these sensors is optimum to be used in different applications versus specific performance metrics.","PeriodicalId":122414,"journal":{"name":"2022 11th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114736238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As recently proposed, an all-memristive neural network can be designed using volatile diffusion memristors as part of the LIF neuron, and non-volatile drift memristors as synaptic elements. The cognitive performances of our MSNN are demonstrated by the implementation of the spike timing dependent plasticity (STDP) learning rule. Starting from a circuit-level memristive neuron model which incorporates volatility, and a synaptic memristive array, a simple MSNN circuit simulator is designed and its performances are discussed.","PeriodicalId":122414,"journal":{"name":"2022 11th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127441819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed design provides solutions for the trade-offs between the frequency resolution and locking range as well as between design complexity, area, and power consumption of the ADPLL system. As example, a system with reference frequency of 125 MHz and a locking frequency range from 5.375 GHz to 6.25 GHz is designed. The simulated phase-noise performance is -95 dBc/Hz at 1.25 MHz offset employing a division factor between 43 and 50.","PeriodicalId":122414,"journal":{"name":"2022 11th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127002935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Special attention has been paid in the cost-effectiveness of the proposed solution, in order to become sustainable. In this context, the use of a popular and low-cost high-performance microcontroller has been employed. Moreover, by means of a touchscreen, a friendly user interface is established, along with the interconnection with the smart city waste management infrastructure; therefore, the optimal route planning for municipality vehicles becomes possible, reducing so the associated costs whereas improving the environmental footprint. In addition, temperature, gas/fire, weight and ultrasonic sensors are also incorporated in the proposed solution, so as to prevent hazards, as well as to provide useful data to the citizens/users. Last but not least, the smart bin is equipped with an energy harvesting system, becoming so a zero-energy solution.","PeriodicalId":122414,"journal":{"name":"2022 11th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125844345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a novel power line communication (PLC) system design fabricated in an integrated circuit using the XFAB XH018 0.18μm CMOS technology to enable the data linking capabilities in such decentralized units. The proposed on-chip PLC system can be used in cascaded H-bridge power converters connected on a common DC or AC bus without requiring additional circuitry for transmitting the information. Also, its operation does not depend on the scale or type of the supplied load. An experimental prototype system for the power and data transmission, including the fabricated PLC chip and a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) device for the data reception, has been developed and tested. The experimental results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed on-chip PLC system.","PeriodicalId":122414,"journal":{"name":"2022 11th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125150743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Decentralized Energy Resources (DER), such as residential prosumers, can sufficiently provide ancillary services to the network. In this paper, the optimal power management of a smart residence during frequency support mode of operation is proposed. The residence comprises an electric vehicle, a battery pack, RES and loads with demand response capabilities. A Multiport Power Converter (MPC) interfaces the aforementioned modules and the power grid. An optimization algorithm is used to calculate the optimal power setpoints of the MPC ports in order to maximize flexibility of the system while satisfying all goals and constraints.","PeriodicalId":122414,"journal":{"name":"2022 11th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121909542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
