Yamakawa","doi":"10.1109/INDIN.2006.275714","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/INDIN.2006.275714","url":null,"abstract":"A phase diagram of error and its derivative is useful to illustrate the state of the control system, where a fixed point at origin stands for a stable state, a point leaving origin an unstable state, a point moving round the origin an oscillatory state, etc. Thus the state of the control system is estimated by the motion of the point in the diagram. When the control system is under a strong or periodic disturbance, the state point moves round the origin staggeringly or periodically. It is difficult to evaluate the state of the control system in such conditions and the appropriate control is hardly realized. The E-TOP (evaluation with trajectory on phase diagram) method, presented by the authors, facilitates extracting the feature parameters from the trajectory in the phase diagram. The feature parameters characterize the behaviour of the control system. The adaptive PID autopilot system employing the E-TOP method is very efficient to evaluate the behaviour of small ships, the attitude of which is easily varied by the waves. However, when the attitude of the ship body is strongly staggering, the adaptive autopilot system cannot work appropriately. To cope with this problem, we propose the advanced E-TOP adaptive PID autopilot system, which employs the self-organizing maps (SOM)[2]. Firstly, strapdown inertial attitude algorithm and bi-vector attitude algorithm are presented, which are widely used in small UAV autopilot systems now. However, there is a problem of long term drift with the former and heavy noise with the latter. Due to these shortcomings, accurate attitude control has not been achieved yet in small UAVs. In order to solve these problems, this paper gives out a Kalman filter model which fuses the two types of data into an optimal estimate of real attitude, and overcomes the shortages of both algorithms mentioned above. Simulation results show that this filter can be used to gain fairly good data for more accurate attitude control. Usually, the product quality is measured in the analytical laboratory and it involves resources and considerable time delay. On-line prediction of quality using frequent process measurements would be beneficial in terms of operation and quality control. In this article, a novel soft sensor technology based on partial least squares (PLS) regression between process variables and quality variable is developed and applied to a refinery process for quality prediction. The modeling process is described, with emphasis on data preprocessing, PLS regression, multi-outliers' detection and variables selection in regression. Enhancement of PLS is also discussed to take into account the dynamics in the process data. We model the system as a dynamic programming with the objective minimizing the total operational cost. The workstation is subject to breakdown and repair. We show the existence of a switching curve which is an increasing function. The switching curve forms an optimal policy for the decision on whether an arriving defective item should be repaired by the workstation or replaced by the available item in stock. A sensor node (SN) roaming across several access points (AP) will bring in new technical challenges. The current sensor network uses channel number, which is indicated by certain bits in sent datagram, to identify the source sensor node. Such mechanism can not fit well into the mobile applications. In order to solve this problem, we propose another approach, which changes the signal transmission style from the channel-based into IP-based, and the wireless link uses Bluetooth (BT). However, the IP-based sensor network technologies using PPP could create problems during handover, even though mobility support is at the IP layer. A new method to carry IP packets over Bluetooth, named middleware, is designed as a protocol layer between IP and L2CAP, and is implemented in a form of network driver in Linux. By dividing the product's whole manufacturing cycle into several relatively dependent modules and by way of information transferring technology, the dispersed networked manufacturing mode makes full use of distributed resources. By doing so, a virtual venture with no constraint of space could be setup rapidly, and products of high quality and low cost could be manufactured quickly. Dispersed networked manufacturing modes integrate human resources, machine tools and the engineer's experiences of different enterprises onto one platform validly, which is specially suitable for the middle and small sized manufacturing enterprises of China. A new model named 'expanded timed-state-chart' is used here for representing the behavior of a target system. The control system itself is realized as follows. First, various information that is needed to complete the control system is extracted by utilizing several 'templates' from the behavior model where all specifications for the control have been embedded. Then, it is input to the controller of interpreter type. Particularly in the automotive industry which is considering the possibility of replacing the major part of mechanical and/or hydraulic systems by electronic \"by-wire\" systems, the importance of ensuring predictable behavior while also presenting some degree of flexibility plays a key role.
