On the real-time operation stage, users contact with the virtual scene and implement the operation by manipulating the haptic interaction device. Obviously, haptic related computation is the most important part for a virtual surgery system. This paper studied the haptic related computation of the virtual liver surgery, including the mechanism of haptic computation in liver virtual surgery, liver cutting area delineation and liver parenchyma splitting simulation. We developed two novel methods to simulate the delineation and splitting on the virtual liver surface. Results show our techniques can not only provide a realistic effect in our virtual surgery system, but also can be used in other simulation and geometry fields.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133908743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of the complexity of cardiovascular system, it is difficult to research the internal principle completely. Consequently, it is usual to study by modeling and simulation. In this article, the cardiovascular system model was established by using Matlab/Simulink. According to the functional test and the evaluation, the results of the model are highly similar to the clinical data, so it can be used widely to simulate various diseases and accidents. Based on the results, we mainly use the model to analyze the effective factors on pressure-volume loop of left ventricle, including preload, after-load and myocardial contractility. In a cardiac cycle, the pressure-volume (P-V) loop of left ventricle will always be in a series of dynamic changes. The pressure-volume relationship of left ventricle is a closed loop that could be used to evaluate the left ventricle's function. Preload, after-load and myocardial contractility always influence the cardiac outputs; the P-V loop will be changed as these factors change. The research focuses on the changes of these three factors and the corresponding changes of the P-V loop.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116798304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an SU-8/silicon(100)/SU-8 flexible composite sandwich structure is studied. Besides preventing corrosion to the underneath thin silicon membrane, SU-8 photoresist coated on the silicon membrane improves its flexibility as shown by a finite element (FE) simulation utilizing ANSYS software. Using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposited SiO2/Si3N4 composite film as an etching mask, a 4\" silicon(100) wafer was thinned to 26μm without rupture in a 30 wt.% KOH solution. The thinned wafer was coated on both sides with 20μm of SU-8 photoresist and cut into strips. And then the strips were bent by a caliper to measure its radius of curvature. A sector model of bending deformation was adopted to estimate the radius of curvature. The determined minimal bending radius of the polymer-sandwiched ultra-thin silicon layer is no more than 3.3mm. The polymer-sandwiched ultra-thin silicon(100) layer can be used as a flexible substrate. And the fabrication of this sandwich structure is compatible with conventional microelectronic fabrication processing. It can be used as a post-fabrication process for high performance flexible electronics.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121783723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present an affordable way to localize the ultrasound probe using a Kinect sensor. The proposed localization procedure is coupled with an existing force acquisition schema to affordably associate each ultrasound image to its probe location and the applied force. The collected information is used to build a learning database which is exploited to set up a virtual environment. This virtual ultrasound environment will encourage technology diffusion and will improve the student's accuracy in the ultrasound exam.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121842049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application and the data analysis of the MIT system are difficult because of the uneven distribution of intracranial electrical characteristics. To study the effect of the intracranial main ingredients on the MIT signal, a four layers craniocerebral model was put forward in this paper, which was established according to the human physiological structure. First of all, a skull model was established according to the anatomic structure. Structures of the skull model including eyes, occipital bone and frontal bone were revised. And brain parenchyma, cerebral spinal and head cortex were added on that basis. Finally, we analyzed the conductivity characteristics of each part of the organizational structure. The model was put into the MIT system. And the induced current data of the model was gained. It provides a reference for the design of the MIT system.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128801837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Diatrizoate meglumine-loaded chitosan microspheres were prepared by crosslink emulsification process, to use chitosan acetic acid solution as aqueous phase, liquid paraffin as oil phase, Span80 and n-butyl alcohol as surfactant, glutaraldehyde solution as crosslink agent. The effect of ratio of diatrizoate meglumine (ratio of W), the ratio of aqueous to organic phase (W/O ratio), the ratio of Span80 to liquid paraffin and the time of crosslink process were optimized by the single factor experiment and response surface experiment. And the optimum prepared microspheres' appearance, distribution, diameter, zeta potential, thermal performance and release properties were measured and their swelling and development properties were observed. The diatrizoate meglumine-loaded chitosan microspheres had a good shape and uniform distribution by light microscope and transmission electron microscope, with average diameters of 1.53 μm and average zeta potential of -19.7 mV; the microspheres had a good sustained release property. And the swelling property of the diatrizoate megiumine-loaded chitosan microspheres varied in different conditions and developed clearly under the ultrasonic imaging technique. This study prepares a kind of diatrizoate meglumine-loaded chitosan microspheres, who can make the microspheres, develop and dredge the obstruction at the same time.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130435301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Membrane mechanics is considered and is incorporated with fluid dynamics. The model has been used to evaluate the effect of different biophysical parameters. The simulation results demonstrate that erythrocytes in microvessels blunt velocity profiles in both straight section and daughter branches. Moreover, the deformation and motion of erythrocytes is strongly influenced by the initial position of the cells, cell stiffness, and shape of the cells. These results may provide fundamental knowledge for a better understanding of hemodynamic behavior of microscale blood flow.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123703280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we explore fair-exchange techniques to encourage honest reporting of item receipt in RFID-tagged supply chains and present a fair ownership transfer system for RFID-tagged supply chains. In our system, a receiver can only access the data and/or functions of the RFID tag by providing the sender with a cryptographic attestation of successful receipt; cheating results in a defunct tag. Conversely, the sender can only obtain the receiver's attestation by providing the secret keys required to access the tag.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116911782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is vital to ensure adequate quantities of Ebola treatment drugs supply to meet the timely and effective elimination of the Ebola epidemic. Ebola treating drug manufacturing and logistics transportation are particularly important and indispensable processes for preventing Ebola's spread. The paper established the control model of Ebola disease and completed the combination of the treatment drug delivery path optimal algorithm. The improved Mathematical Model structure of virus prevalence based on SEIQR is successfully built to eradicate Ebola spread. By Case simulation of Mathematical Model of probability statistics is used to predict the spread of the disease and support the selection of the most efficient transportation path. The improved optimization algorithm of pharmaceutical logistics path based on classical Dijkstra's algorithm is put forward and developed, which finds the fastest and most efficient path recursively by comparing medicine transportation time among transit points. Through the path analysis, we can also know the best locations of medicine delivery. The model with theoretical support and practical significance will be of great help to provide reliable data support and reference for the Health Control Organization to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124068605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the meantime, the information visualization technology based on big data has a substantial development. Considering the common based on big data, this paper discussed the connections of graph visualization and recommendation system from a new perspective. We propose three combinative points: Firstly, the Visual Analytics of social network can be combined with the recommendation computing; secondly, the graph drawing algorithms can be combined with the terminal presentation of recommended results. On the account of the evolutional nature of recommendation, the dynamic graphs would be the key area; thirdly, user interaction with the recommendation system can use the graph interaction strategies to achieve a more accurate and understandable result. In this paper, we discuss the visual techniques which can applied to recommendation system from a more general perspective. We also discuss some research challenges in the future.","PeriodicalId":119361,"journal":{"name":"2015 8th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124316648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
