Accurate prediction of these simulations depends upon the fact that how closely actual conditions are incorporated in the analysis. Stiffness is a key property for parallel platforms as it dictates the positional accuracy of the system. Overall stiffness of the platforms is not only driven by the stiffness of the links but also by contact stiffness of joints. Heavily loaded platforms present a special case as these are more prone to system failure if not designed properly. In this work, the stiffness behavior of 6-DOF platform’s top plate subjected to various boundary conditions at joints have been analyzed. Different boundary conditions i.e. volume at joints, surface at joints and line at joints, has been used to depict real joint behavior. The stiffness of platform is analyzed for each of these cases independently and comparison of simulation results for every condition is presented both for static as well as dynamic conditions. This comparison presents a useful outcome for better prediction of static stiffness behavior and dynamic response thus aiding in more accurate design of such applications.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131515904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This situation alters the range of the projectile. Thus, before ignition of a SRE the initial temperature of the propellant should be known in order to have accurate range calibrations. Developing a theoretical model to determine the temperature of the propellant would be ordeal. Numerical methods such as finite element (FE) method can be used, but it would be impractical in the field due to relatively long run times and necessity for a solver. In this study, a novel methodology is presented to estimate the temperature of the propellant within a very short time before the ignition. System identification method has been used to derive a mathematical model between the volume averaged temperature of the solid propellant, and ambient temperature and solar radiation. Ambient temperature and solar radiation, which depend on time and location, are the main factors influencing the temperature of the propellant, after the SRE has been taken out of a depot. The derived model has been validated by comparing the results with those obtained from the FE analyses.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116940997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiments were carried out to obtain the critical buckling loads of I-shape stiffeners stiffened composite panels. A finite element model (FEM) was developed and validated by the experiments. The developed FEM was further used to study the effect of the key stiffener dimensions on the buckling loads and buckling modes of stiffened composite panels, including the width of upper and lower flange, as well as the height of the I-shape stiffeners. The analysis results showed that the width of the lower flange of I-shape stiffeners was the dominant parameter for the buckling resistance of stiffened composite panels comparing to the width of the upper flange and the height of I-shape stiffeners. The stiffened composite panels buckled locally on the skin among stiffeners with the proper design of stiffeners. Otherwise, the buckling loads of the stiffened composite panels decreased due to the global buckling of the stiffened panel when the width of the bottom edge and the height of the I-shape stiffener were excessively large. The developed FEM can be further used to optimize the geometry of I-shape stiffeners in order to obtain the maximum buckling resistance of stiffened composite panel.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123802283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Integrated with deterministic sampling and rewiring strategies, the enhanced sweeping Rapidly-Exploring Dense Trees (sweep-RDT*) are lazily extracted from the graph-based roadmaps for generating an asymptotically optimal trajectory, which is then smoothed using linearly homotopic superposition. The input-output of the mechanism are the main criteria to define its characteristics and hence its capabilities to achieve specific application requirements. The tolerance analysis for the mechanism components are a key element for studying and improving mechanism characteristics and its transmission quality. In this paper kinematics contact approach models for small scale slider crank mechanism are presented. The models consider the mechanism characteristic range, sensitivity and input-output relations. The effect of mechanism manufacturing and assembly errors such as; components tolerances, revolute joints clearances and assembly deviations were investigated. The investigations are applied for the inline and offset types mechanisms. The study elaborates the effect of these errors on the mechanism characteristic, position errors and uncertainty. The effect of revolute joints clearances and offset on the mechanism hysteresis errors, position uncertainty, and dead zones are presented. The results of the proposed contact models are compared with those applying Ting rotatability method. The study is further condensed to define the most appropriate design parameters and manufacturing tolerance according to the permissible system errors.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114568566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the dynamic load identification technology of the one-dimensional structure of continuous beam based on the modal coordinate transformation theory is deduced in detail. For the one-dimensional distribution of the dynamic load, we decompose it with the mode functions in the modal coordinate space. The liner relationship between the time function coefficients of the distributed load and the modal excitations is established. Then the modal excitations can be identified from the known response data of the measuring points based on the modal theory to rebuild the distributed dynamic load. In conclusion, the simulation examples of distributed dynamic load identification show that the proposed is reliable and practical, and can be flexibly used in engineering.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127379538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
