It can have desired numerical properties, such as unconditional stability, second-order accuracy, explicit formulation and controllable numerical damping. In general, it is a one-step method and thus it will involve no distinct starting procedure in conducting time integration. In addition, it has no overshoot in a high frequency forced vibration response, which is often found in a structure-dependent integration method. As a result, it can possess a comparable performance as that of a conventional dissipative implicit method such as the well-known WBZ-alpha method while its computational efficiency is much better than for implicit methods due to the integration of unconditional stability and explicit formulation together.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115510588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is an expensive process due to the proportionally large amount of material that is purchased compared to the amount that remains after machining. For example, buy-to-fly (BTF) ratios of 20:1 are not uncommon. Linear Friction Welding (LFW), owing to its economic and environmental benefits, has been identified as a disruptive technology for producing these parts. This paper provides an overview of the ground-breaking work on LFW undertaken by TWI Ltd. The microstructure and mechanical properties of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V welds are analysed; the results show that the weld microstructure is refined and the mechanical properties are often superior to the parent material. Moreover, examples of the types of components that can be produced, along with the achievable cost savings, are presented. The purpose of this paper is to inform the manufacturing and aerospace industries of the benefits of LFW, so that this innovative manufacturing process may be better exploited.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"299 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124275184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The distribution of plasma concentration is calculated by plasma concentration model. On the basis, the plasma characteristic parameters (including Debye radius, plasma frequency and plasma effective collision frequency) in the exhaust plume are solved and analyzed, afterward the variation of plasma characteristic parameters with the axis direction of the exhaust plume is obtained. The analysis shows that the plasma characteristics of exhaust plume are highly dependent on the temperature, only in the high temperature zone of the rocket plume, the exhaust plume has the properties of plasma.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127148330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The organizational layout of a maintenance hangar normally includes a tool dispensing store, or tool crib, from which aircraft technicians sign out special tools to carry out specific tasks. Efficient operation of the tool crib ensures that the non-value-adding time spent by technical personnel queuing to be served, and while being served, is kept as low as possible, therefore increasing productivity and minimizing the risk of delay. In this work, a detailed study of the operation of a tool crib in an aircraft maintenance facility is carried out. A detailed and versatile simulation of the operations is developed, based on real data collected at the facility with the aid of a new software tool to facilitate event synchronization. The simulation is then used to investigate quantitatively the effects on the overall waiting time of varying the stock levels of critical tools, of reorganizing the tool storage locations, and of changing the number of human servers. In the context of the case study, it is found that relatively minor changes in tool crib organization can result in substantial savings both in the overall waiting time and in unsatisfied tool requests.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126126520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is mandatory to design a PI controller in a system to obtain a fast and effective response, taking time delay into account, as well as the parameters of the process. A proposed tuning method is presented in the article that gives directly accurate PI parameters for a fast operation, the universal formulas are also proposed as the result. This method is also tested by using simulation tool and the experimental setup, which prove that the new method can be applied for several cases, but especially in inductor current control. The method can provide the parameters of PI control for stable response even in some cases where the inductance may change significantly.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125301868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to improve the accuracy of Heat Flux Simulation, IHTA has to cover the whole surface of Spacecraft and the structure design margin of IHTA is within 50 mm. To confirm the structure of IHTA is compatible with Spacecraft, a set of digital structure matching verification method has been established. This method digitizes the structure of Spacecraft and IHTA into 3D models by Laser 3D Scanning then Structure Matching Verification of them can be done in software. The verification error of this method is better than 20 mm in the case of the structure size is not more than 10m. Based on exposed area, height, speed and other factors, as well as actual combat factors such as UAVs maneuver, a corresponding analysis model is established through the analysis of operational tasks, environmental threats and threat characteristics of ground light weapons. The damage probability of UAVs is analyzed, and the methods of improving survivability from two aspects: design and application, are given through sensitivity analysis.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115535650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As standard, this thickness value is half of pitch. Actually, it could be changed provided that total pitch value is constant. To evaluate effect of tooth thickness change on stress, finite element analyses were conducted. As an expected result with increasing thickness on pitch circle, the stress decreases. Specific thickness values which make maximum stress equal was determined. Besides, the total mechanism weight was reduced with this design change.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"30 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114059402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because the angular measurement accuracy of space-based sensor is very sensitive to orbit determination, it’s necessary to analyze the factors of angular measurement error, which can provide references for optimal design of space-based sensor. In this paper, a space image synthesis system is developed to provide the image source for resident space object detection and extraction. Then image extraction error and pose error of observation platform are analyzed, with which that the angle measurement error decreases as the focal length and size of pixel increase under same image extraction error can be concluded. Compared with position and velocity error of satellite, attitude angle error has greater impact on angle measurement error of RSOs. By using Otsu method and mathematical morphology method, the angle measurement error of RSOs can be controlled within 7 arcseconds.","PeriodicalId":118501,"journal":{"name":"2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127928660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
