The resonant frequency and low frequency regions of operation of PT for voltage sensing are discussed and experimental results are presented. Results from the numerical analysis are compared with these established results. This paper describes the main factors by which wind energy companies choose their turbine manufacturers in a selected case region in Finland. The study was conducted using semi-structured interviews, for which the experts and decision makers of selected wind energy companies formed the focus group. During the analysis of the results it became clear that it was not possible to form a detailed and prioritized list of selection criteria, but still some general themes emerged. The main theme was the manufacturer and product reliability, and then the production volume, cost factors, availability factors, and the organization of maintenance in this order. This increasing trend coupled with the introduction of renewable energy sources, which require energy storage devices, poses significant problems to fault current levels. To improve network availability and grid resilience, superconducting saturated core Fault Current Limiters (FCL) are a suitable solution to reduce high fault currents in distribution level electricity grids. These devices have the characteristic of low impedance to the network during normal operation and high impedance during a fault event. However, this change in impedance is nonlinear and can lead to an imbalance in a three phase saturated core FCL. In this paper, the effects on fault current limiting performance due to the unbalanced instantaneous impedance between the 3 phases are investigated. The FCL fault transients of a grounded fault and a floating fault are simulated and compared using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques. Considering the wide range of applications, effective ways of storing and retrieving electrical energy remains a challenge. In addition to load variations, the ever-increasing penetration of intermittent renewable energies into the power system has presented the system with difficulties. Frequency regulation, voltage support, load leveling, peak shaving, economic dispatch, and production leveling represent the main power system applications, where ES can play an important role. In off-grid applications, ES can be used to balance the generation and consumption, to prevent frequency and voltage deviations. Industrial customers need to understand their energy consumption for the purpose of reducing energy costs, improving company ecological profile, and suggestive feedback scheduling. In this study, an industrial facility was used to demonstrate the importance of managing the energy consumption. To address this issue, an energy monitoring and management system is developed. First, the energy consumption of individual machines is identified. Second, a graphical user interface and operation scheduling are developed and the feedback is provided to the operator through fuzzy inference system. However, the long distance between the nearest main grid and the rural system as well as the costs of transmission line expansion rapidly increasing makes grid extension difficult, costly and economically unviable. Therefore, using microgrid technology with renewable energy options to meet electricity demand in remote locations becomes more attractive. In this paper the break-even distance which makes electricity from microgrid cost effective over the one form main grid is calculated. Moreover, the Net Present Costs (NPC) of both providing electricity through the microgrid and the main grid are calculated and compared. Five different cases including a diesel-only, a fully renewable-based, a diesel-renewable mixed, a solar-only, and a wind-only microgrid configurations are designed, to compare and evaluate their economics with the main grid. This feeder interconnects several solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays as well as two shunt capacitor banks. Harmonic measurements were acquired over one week at critical locations in the feeder. The analysis highlights higher than expected harmonic distortion levels, though still within limits established in IEEE 519-1992. Harmonics injected by the solar systems are partially additive, contributing approximately 0.1% to the total harmonic distortion (THD) at the feeder terminal. Significant 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, and 13th harmonic levels are discovered. In our previous work, we proposed an approach that used web services to remotely interact with smart home elements in a smart grid environment. These interactions include adjusting the temperature or reading energy consumption. We assumed a smart home with a wireless sensor network based on Zigbee. There was a central computer that could access all home elements. Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) was used to implement the web service on central computer. In this paper, we enhance the system by including new features. The algorithm to sell energy back to the grid has been further developed. Furthermore, a function to optimize energy using dynamic programming is added to the system.
