Therefore, they are experiencing more fatigue and stress with the increasing numbers of students who enroll in school with either acute or chronic health conditions where they require early detection and management during the school day. Aim: Assess the relationship between school health nurses' fatigue and their work engagement in school settings in Alexandria. Subjects: 200 school health nurses who represent available school nurses enrolled in all educational zones of Alexandria Methods: A descriptive correlational research design was adopted to carry out this study. Research question: What is the relationship between school health nurses fatigue and their work engagement in school settings at Alexandria?. Tools : Tool I: which includes two parts: Part One: The Socio-demographic characteristics of school health nurses and Part Two: Professional Quality of Life Scale Version 5 (ProQOL5). Tool II: The 9-Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES). Results: The results of this study showed that more than three quarters (78.0%) of the studied nurses had moderate vigor toward their work and the highest percent of them had moderate dedication and absorption (84.0 & 91.0%) respectively. Also, there were statistically significant differences between the school health nurses’ fatigue and mean scores of work engagement. Conclusion: The study concluded that school health nurses at more risk of being victims of the long-term stress they are suffering overwhelming needs of ill students and their families, which in turn lead to compassion fatigue and burnout. So, studying the relationships between school health nurses' fatigue and their work engagement plays an important role in health promotion of students and all school health personnel. school health nurses' fatigue should be incorporated in nursing theory and education to improve their levels of work engagement and decrease secondary traumatic stress.","PeriodicalId":117851,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117352922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Raising awareness of endometriosis in adolescence is receiving increasing attention now. Aim: The present research was aimed to evaluate the effect of self-instructional module on adolescent nursing students' awareness regarding endometriosis as challenge for prevention of future infertility. Design: A quasi-experimental research design was adopted to fulfill the aim of this study. Setting: The study was conducted at faculty of nursing, Benha University. Sample : A purposive sample of three hundred and sixty four adolescent female nursing students. Tools: Data were collected through three main tools: A Structured self-administered questionnaire, Student's awareness assessment sheet regarding endometriosis and Student’s satisfaction sheet. Results: Showed that, less than one fifth of studied sample had adequate awareness score regarding endometriosis at pre-intervention phase while, about four fifths of the studied sample had adequate awareness score at post-intervention and at follow up phases (P ≤ 0.001). Also, there was no statistical significant relation between total awareness score of studied sample and all personal data (age, mothers' education, mothers' occupation, residence and family history of endometriosis) at post intervention and follow up phases p>0.05. Conclusion: The research concluded that, hypotheses of research were supported and adolescent female exhibited improving awareness about endometriosis after implementation of self-instructional module. Objective: Assess physiological burdens of prolonged use of surgical face masks among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic era. Settings: The study was conducted at Alexandria University Hospitals and El-Hadra University Hospital. Subjects: A convenience sample of 160 healthcare workers from the above-mentioned settings. Method: A descriptive, research design was used to achieve this study. Tool of this study: Physiological burdens of the prolonged use of surgical face masks for healthcare workers interview questionnaire. It was used to assess the physiological burdens of the prolonged use of face masks for healthcare workers. Results: 70% of the studied healthcare workers were experienced blurred vision, two-thirds of them (66.7%) had a burning nose, more than two-thirds (70%) experienced dry mouth ,and two-thirds ( 66.7%) of them had a strong sensation of thirst, Also, nearly two third of them (60%) experienced pain behind the ears. nearly two-thirds (60%) noticed skin rashes/redness on the bridge of the nose. More than half (53.3%) experienced dizziness. The majority of the studied healthcare workers (86.7%) experienced headaches following prolonged use of face masks, and 76.7% experienced shortness of breath on exertion. Additionally; it was found that the prolonged use of face masks slightly interfered with food intake during work hours in more than half of them (53.3%). In addition, the need for drinking adequate fluids slightly interfered among nearly two-thirds of them (63%). There was a statistically significant relation between oxygen saturation after four hours of wearing surgical masks and health care workers' occupation with favor to physicians than nurses and paramedical over physicians. Furthermore; there was a statistically significant relation between oxygen saturation after eight hours of wearing surgical masks and health care workers' occupations with favor for physicians over nurses. Moreover; there was statistically significant relation between oxygen saturation after eight hours of wearing surgical masks and health care workers' area of practice in favor of the emergency room over than the operating room . Conclusion: The use of a facemask plays a crucial role in causing significant discomfort in all the participants during its prolonged usage including blurred vision, burning nose, hot nose, dry nose and mouth, pain behind the ears, rashes/redness on the bridge of the nose, dizziness, headaches, shortness of breath on exertion and decrease on oxygen saturation.","PeriodicalId":117851,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121732238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results : The majority (94%) of the studied staff nurses perceived high level of abusive supervision, only 2% of them perceived low level of abusive supervision from their supervisors. Also, less than two thirds of them (65%) had moderate level of counter productive work behavior, while only (15%) of the study participants had high level. Conclusion : There was strong positive relation between staff nurses' perceived abusive supervision and their counter productive work behavior. Recommendations : Hospitals have to take corrective disciplinary approaches, actions and strategies against supervisory abusive behavior and counter - productive behavior. Health care managers have to provide the employees with favorable healthy professional work environment, which helps to overcome any counterproductive work behaviors.
