The MIASCE learning model consists of six processes: 1) Motivation 2) Information 3) Assignment 4) Solution 5) Conclusion and 6) Evaluation. The research procedure was as follows; first, to study problems referring to electromagnetic wave education, next to analyze the learning theory and to develop and create research tools for electromagnetic wave courses. The developed instructional tool consisted of a MIASCE instruction's manual, teacher manual, power point presentation, simulation program and achievement test. Finally, quality of the developed MIASCE instructional model was evaluated by 5 instructors. The result showed that the quality of the model was at a highly appropriate level. After implementing the developed model using a sampling group from Rajamangala University of Technology PhraNakhon, faculty of Industrial Education, the student's satisfaction was found to be at a high level. From the results, the developed MIASCE instructional model can be applied to learning and teaching of electromagnetic waves effectively.","PeriodicalId":117659,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Teaching, Assessment, and Learning for Engineering (TALE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133043645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However due to the increasing student intakes in each year for a degree program, it is a difficult task to identify those students who require the guidance and monitoring from the beginning. Manual observation and data collections, which require additional workload, are time consuming and a challenge to practice. Therefore efficient and usable tool support is essential to assist academics to identify the less-able students during the early stages of a course module. In this paper we introduce such a tool with the use of business intelligence helping the academics to decide student capability levels based on graph analysis on Moodle user log data. Moodle dataset of MSc in Business Management students of University of Moratuwa was used for this research. The XML formatted data were extracted from Moodle logs and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) were used to enhance the extraction, transformation and loading process. Data cubes were analyzed with multidimensional queries. Graph visualization was used and a number of patterns were realized to identify the less-able students using following data of student activities: assignment submission, usage scenarios, and number of occasions the course pages and other resources were accessed.","PeriodicalId":117659,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Teaching, Assessment, and Learning for Engineering (TALE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130612022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We also aim at fostering self-motivating ability for professional engineers in education and training curriculums. However, fostering and evaluating the motivation are difficult. This paper proposes a learning model and its evaluation method of a motivational education curriculum for professional engineers. We structured the learning model based on a model for motivational design, and applied the model to prototype courses. To improve self-training ability of trainees, we introduced a pre-learning program. We conducted a survey to the trainees, and evaluated the improvement of their learning motivation during the education and training course.","PeriodicalId":117659,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Teaching, Assessment, and Learning for Engineering (TALE)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124961115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This new method enables users to customize and print their own answer sheets and uses ordinary document scanner and computer to perform the marking as opposed to relying on expensive, specialized and restrictive answer sheets and optical mark recognition scanners. It can also annotate the scanned answer sheet images with feedback and send back to students via email, while compiling the assessment results for the assessor. Experiments show the proposed method can mark as fast as 1.4 seconds per sheet with 100% accuracy.","PeriodicalId":117659,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Teaching, Assessment, and Learning for Engineering (TALE)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115529912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because the one model has become dominant in the established networks throughout the world. There is evidence this domination is lessening. Software Defined Networking (SDN) has been in use in datacentres and private networks for over 10 years and is slowly emerging from the datacentre towards becoming an option for any TCP/IP network. There are numerous potential advantages to an organisation that chooses to adopt SDN. It is a key part of securing our future in the changing world of network infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":117659,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Teaching, Assessment, and Learning for Engineering (TALE)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122523028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
