However, the participation of contractors to get involved in the IBS project is currently poor. The fewer acceptances are generally caused of the financial issues perception that they will encounter while handling over the IBS project. Concern with the issues, a financial model using financial ratios to predict business performance of IBS construction company are developed. In this paper, the financial model is functioning as to estimate the company's performance using selected financial ratios specifically for IBS construction contractor in Selangor. Financial statements of 30 IBS firms around Selangor in the form of income statements and balance sheet spanning for four years (from 2006 to 2009) were used as source of data to calculate company's financial ratios. By developing this kind of model, it is further contribute to assisting the construction stakeholders, such as the conventional contractor which they can used this model to make an assessment and predict their future performance of IBS project based on previous financial data. Moreover, the development of this kind of financial model will be benefited much to the upcoming researchers especially those who get involved in this kind of study area.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125988219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a numerical simulation tool that is able to perform the calculation in order to investigate and simulate the performance of the processes that involve fluid, heat and mass transfer. In this study, a direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) experiment will be studied using hollow fiber membrane module. A three dimensional (3D) CFD simulation will be examined for its viability in the investigation of the DCMD. Furthermore, various CFD multiphase models will be studied for its suitability in predicting heat and mass behavior within the membrane.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126981040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Aachen Quality Management Model brings a new approach of quality philosophy putting quality in the field of corporate orientation, corporate skills and customer requirements. Entrepreneurial quality as a stabilization problem requires control engineering methods and structures applied to business processes in order to treat the dynamic behavior. Using cybernetic metrics and terms the paper shows how to build up architecture for Quality Control Loops and discusses the assignability of the field of control theory for the analysis and design of organizational processes. Furthermore it provides an approach for mapping the reference model to business process systems and simulating their structure and behavior which will facilitate the setup of required control loops and the configuration of stable and robust process systems.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121999303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A random sampling method was used to collect 232 finalized audited corporate tax cases in 2010 by the Inland Revenue Board Malaysia's headquarter. Of these, 12 cases with zero sales revenue and 26 cases with zero tax adjustment were discarded. The final samples consisted of 194 cases with tax audit adjustment amounted to RM 114.35 million. Multiple regression results revealed that financial liquidity; foreign ownership and company size were found to be significant determinants of tax non-compliance. The results also show that manufacturing companies commit less tax non-compliance as compared to other industries. Notably, penalty rate and financial performance have no significant association with tax non-compliance. This study has merit as it analyzed the actual finalized audited corporate tax data retrieved from the archive of the Inland Revenue Board Malaysia, which are not available publicly. The findings provide some insights to the tax authorities in tax audits selection, prevention and detection of corporate tax non-compliance.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124637089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, majority of young adults today are burdened by credit card debts. Hence, this study investigates the factors that affect credit card debt among young adults in Malaysia. This research details a conceptual framework, sheds light on the reasons why young Malaysians fall into credit card debt trap, and provides strategies for helping them to use credit cards appropriately. Six independent variables will be used to develop arguments, and hypotheses for the specific effects of credit card debt. The six independent variables are compulsive buying, impulse buying, social support, interest rate, education, and beliefs on credit card. This framework would be helpful for assessing the key factors affecting credit card debts in Malaysia and could provide some bases for further investigation involving larger stakeholders.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124644246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
