Channel estimation and equalisation for OFDM system become challenging when the mobile terminal is moving at high speed as the OFDM subcarriers lose their orthogonality in such situations. In this paper we present a novel channel estimation algorithm based on the hyperbolic modelling of rapidly varying channels. The hyperbolic model is based on the observation of the OFDM frequency domain channel matrix provided by rapid channel simulator, and on mathematical analysis of the off-diagonal elements of the channel matrix. The hyperbolic model can be combined with an FFT interpolation technique and then used to perform an iterative least square estimation of the channel matrix even when sparse pilot distribution is used. Furthermore, a sliding window discrete optimisation procedure is introduced to improve the performance of the suboptimal Linear Minimum Mean Square (LMMSE) channel equalisation technique. Numerical results for a mobile moving at 280 km/h and under the Wide Sense Stationary Uncorrelated Scattering (WSSUS) channel assumption are reported. The provided results prove the efficiency and effectiveness of the suggested algorithms.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129850922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using multiple radars, the radar network systems can achieve reliable detection and wide observation area. The forward-looking system by cameras is famous, but not all-around system. So the system had better be used with other sensing devices such as the radar network. The system will become more reliability. In the radar network, it is important to process the data derived from the multiple receivers. We have proposed some position estimation algorithms. In our past works, we used a single point model as one target. In this paper, we will introduce our data processing and estimation algorithm with 3D target model. Finally, the estimation performance and remaining problems will be presented.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128344960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accurate traffic prediction is one of the critical steps in the operation of an ITS. While techniques for traffic prediction have existed for many years, the research effort has mainly been focused on highway networks. Due to the fundamental difference between the traffic flow pattern on highways and that on city roads, much of the existing models cannot be effectively applied to city traffic prediction. In this paper, we propose two city traffic prediction models using different modeling approaches. Model-1 is based on the traffic flow propagation in the network, while Model-2 is based on the time-varied spare flow capacity on the concerned road link. The proposed models are implemented to predict the traffic volume in Cologne in Germany, and the real data are collected through simulations in the traffic simulator SUMO. The results show that both of the proposed models reduce the prediction error up to 52% and 30% in the best cases compared to the existing Shift Model. In addition, we found that Model-1 is suitable for short prediction interval that is in the same magnitude as the link travel time, while Model-2 demonstrates superiority when the prediction interval is larger than one minute.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133575440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach extends such systems as ERA-GLONASS and eCall via service network composition enabling not only transmitting additional information but also information fusion for defining required emergency means as well as planning for a whole emergency response operation. The main idea of the approach is to model the cyber physical human system components by sets of services representing them. The services are provided with the capability of self-contextualisation to autonomously adapt their behaviours to the context of the car-driver system. The approach is illustrated via an accident emergency situation response scenario.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115738004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, how to monitoring the distribution of fuel consumption dynamically in the urban road network is still a thorny problem to be solved. This paper developed a fuel consumption model based on combination of multiple meso driving characteristics (e.g. average speed, average acceleration). The combination of driving characteristics is represented in the form of feature vector in this paper. Feature vectors with same fuel consumption correspond to a driving pattern. Fuel consumption is calculated based on the distribution of driving patterns. The experimental results show that this method can achieve a high accuracy rate. Considering that typical road environment can centralize the distribution of driving patterns to improve the accuracy, this paper takes the intersection with traffic lights as the example to analyse the effects of its special traffic characteristics on fuel consumption.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127823792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Assuming a common control channel (CCC) simplifies the establishment of a link, but the dynamically changing availability of the spectrum makes it difficult to relay on a CCC. This letter presents CHS, Channel Hopping sequences, to establish a link in cognitive radio networks. We proposed synchronous CHS under the assumption of global clock synchronization and asynchronous CHS without assuming global clock synchronization. Our schemes provide successful communication rendezvous within a bounded time interval. Asynchronous CHS also achieves smaller time-to-rendezvous (TTR) which is governed linearly.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129355126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

V2V and V2I communication requires fast, reliable and lossless data transmission for a large set of services. To improve bandwidth usage and avoid packet collisions, dual radio solution or channel switching scheme to separate control and service messages in a single radio approach is introduced by European and American technologies, respectively. This study presents realistic modeling of V2V communication and compares the performance metrics of channel switching and dual radio scheme. The impact of GNSS clock corrections to attenuate the drift of a clock from its nominal frequency and channel degradation due to time misalignment is presented via different scenarios. Simulation scenario of highway and intersection is implemented in the vehicular network simulator (ns-3) and mobility (SUMO) simulator platforms. As a proof-of-concept, the effectiveness of using GNSS corrections to attenuate the individual clock drift of the low cost On-board Units (OBUs) of the vehicular nodes is demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129392788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, the key design issue is how to organize nodes effectively such that the topology can be stabilized quickly. In order to balance the load among the nodes and govern the topology change, a group formation scheme using localized criterions is implemented. The proposed distributed topology control method focuses on reducing the rate of group member change and avoiding the unnecessary information exchange. Two phases are sequentially applied to choose the group members of each node using hybrid angle-of-arrival (AOA) and time-of-arrival (TOA) information. The operation of Phase I is based on the concept of the cone-based method, which can exclude a lot of nodes quickly. Afterwards, the proposed time-slot method is further applied to stabilize the network topology. Given the network structure in Phase I, the routing group member is determined by Phase II operation. The proposed scheme is simulated and analyzed to abstract the network behaviors in a number of settings. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides efficient network topology management and achieves high scalability in VANETs.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133199520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, trajectory data sampled by GPS devices contains notable direction errors. We cannot determine the travelling direction of the bus through trajectory data. To address this problem, we utilize k-nearest neighbor algorithm (K-NN) to determine the direction of the bus trajectory. Meanwhile, the voluminous bus trajectory data accumulated daily need to be process efficiently for further data mining. To meet the scalability and performance requirements, in this paper, we use Map-Reduce programming model for trajectory data direction correcting and projecting the bus GPS point to the road link. Particularly, we compare execution time through setting different amount of reduce to express the extent of running time can be affected. Experimental results indicate that the K-NN algorithm improves the accuracy of the direction field in raw bus trajectory data significantly. It is, therefore, essential that drivers are aware of their actions when they are in control of the wheel responsible for not only their own lives but also passengers and bystanders on the road. Driver monitoring and advanced driver assistance systems have already been utilized in fleet and logistic domain as well as built into high end vehicles. However, the majority of drivers on the road today do not have access to such systems. This paper proposes a novel methodology of driving events detection using a time series approximation algorithm known as SAX on data collected from smartphone sensors. The use of smartphone allows the system to be easily accessible, widely available and implemented at low cost. Preliminary results from our experiments revealed that the precision of the proposed detection algorithm of aggressive driving events is fairly good as the precision values range from 50% to 66.67%. Further improvements can be made as our future work on the detection rate of the proposed algorithm as the detection rates reported range from 25% to 37.5%.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125098080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
